Chapter 34: Preparing for Infiltration
Just then, Gray raised an objection. "What about my training? I have to get stronger as fast as possible so I can defeat Deliora!"
An expression of extreme hatred filled Gray's eyes. Noah could see that the boy was completely consumed by revenge, in a state of extreme obsession. He then glanced at Lyon. When Ur's magic had flared earlier, the look in Lyon's eyes—an admiration for power that went far beyond normal—had not escaped Noah's notice.
With a sigh, Noah said helplessly to Ur, "It seems both of your disciples have some serious issues. They need to be treated."
Ur was a little confused. She understood why Gray was so full of hatred, given his family's fate, but why did Noah say both disciples? She didn't dwell on it, assuming Noah had misspoken. "It's because of what he's been through. This is a problem... how about you two just do some basic training on your own for a few days? We'll be back soon."
"No! I have to get stronger and defeat Deliora now!" Gray said stubbornly, his eyes burning with hatred.
Ur's face was a mask of conflict. Seeing this, Noah offered his own suggestion. "Since I was the one who proposed this, let me train them in your place for the next few days."
Before anyone else could speak, Lyon, who had been silent until now, spoke in a low voice. "Ur is the strongest wizard. What gives you the right to teach us in her place?"
Only then did Ur realize that this disciple of hers might indeed have a problem. But before she could say anything, Noah smiled.
"Then I suppose this gives me the right!"
As he spoke, he unleashed his magic power. An overwhelming pressure instantly slammed down on Gray and Lyon. The two of them collapsed into the snow, their bodies trembling and their teeth chattering. Noah held the pressure for two or three seconds before withdrawing it.
Gray and Lyon immediately began to gasp for air. Despite being in a snowy landscape, they were drenched in a cold sweat of pure terror.
Ur was also completely shocked. This is magic power on par with my own... no, it surpasses mine. He's incredible.
Noah smiled at Gray and Lyon. "So, what do you think? Am I qualified to train you?"
Neither of them said a word. They weren't stupid.
Ur then said to Noah, "That's an incredible amount of magic power. You're already stronger than I am. But aren't you planning to go with me to the Magic Development Bureau? How can you train them?"
Hearing Ur say that her magic was not as strong as Noah's, Lyon's expression changed slightly. Noah saw it but said nothing. He replied to Ur, "With this."
A figure emerged from Noah's body and stood beside him. A second, identical Noah was now standing there.
"A Thought Projection? But aren't Thought Projections unable to touch physical objects?" Ur asked, puzzled.
Noah explained, "My Thought Projection has been improved. It can now choose whether or not to interact with physical objects, and it can also cast magic. It's more than enough to train them."
"A Thought Projection that can use magic? The original spell already requires immense magic power just to activate, and now it can even cast spells... your strength is truly amazing."
"I'm still learning and training. I wouldn't say I'm that amazing yet. For now, let's go to your friend's place."
Ur didn't say anything more. She led them to a nearby town, where they first bought a new set of clothes for Ultear. Dressed in a pretty new outfit, Ultear looked incredibly cute, and everyone stared for a moment. Ultear then rushed to Ur, who swept her up in a hug.
"Mama, am I pretty?"
"Ultear is the cutest!"
Ur lifted her daughter and spun her in a circle, then set her down and led them to her friend's house. Her friend was surprised to see Ur arrive with so many children. "When did you take on so many disciples?" she asked curiously. But when she saw Ultear, she gasped and covered her mouth, whispering, "Isn't that your daughter? Didn't you say she was..."
"A lot has happened. I'll tell you the details later. I was hoping I could leave my disciples and my daughter with you for a couple of days. I have to go take care of some business, and it's not convenient to bring them along."
"Is it about your daughter?" Ur's friend guessed.
"Mhm. So I was hoping they could stay here for two days. Oh, and he will be here to watch them." Ur pointed at Noah.
"Isn't he one of your disciples?" her friend asked, confused.
"No. He is my benefactor. He's the one who brought Ultear back to me."
"Alright then. I'll take them to my house. You go do what you need to do."
Ur nodded gratefully. She knelt down and hugged Ultear. "Mama is going to go and get justice for you now. You be a good girl and stay with Mama's friend for two days, okay? I'll be back soon."
"You promise? Don't lie to me, Mama."
"Mama will never lie to Ultear."
Seeing that they were finished talking, Noah released a Thought Projection to stay with them. Ur's friend took Ultear's hand and led her, along with Gray and Lyon, towards her home. Ultear kept looking back every few steps, and Ur was also extremely reluctant to leave. But she knew she had to deal with the Magic Development Bureau as quickly as possible so she could live a good life with her daughter. No matter how much it hurt, they had to be separated for now.
Once Ultear was out of sight, Ur turned to Noah. "Alright, let's go now. I know there's a place to rent a magic-mobile nearby."
"We don't need that. We can go right now."
With that, Noah reached out and grabbed Ur's arm. A magic circle unfolded, and the two of them vanished.
When Ur came to her senses, she found they were at the edge of the desert, and she could already see the faint outline of the Magic Development Bureau in the distance.
"Is this Teleportation Magic?"
"Mhm. I didn't dare get too close, in case they detected us."
Noah then took out a variety of magic items for infiltration and cast numerous concealment spells, making them completely undetectable by sight, sound, smell, touch, and magic senses.
Ur looked at Noah with a completely different expression. "Why are you so well-prepared for this?"
"I was always afraid a situation might arise where I couldn't be detected, so I made a few preparations. And now, they're coming in handy."
Ur didn't even want to comment on Noah's definition of "a few preparations." She just silently watched him work.
After a final check to make sure there were no problems, Noah said to Ur, "Let's begin. Right, put on these glasses." He took out two pairs of glasses, putting one on himself and handing the other to Ur. "These glasses are the only way we'll be able to see each other. They've also been specially treated so they won't give us away."
Ur looked at the glasses curiously, then put them on. Together, they set off towards the Magic Development Bureau.
