Chapter 33: ch. 33 Polar Bear
"Like I said for the third time sir, we don't sell raw ground meat to costumers." The waitress with the name tag of Shirley spoked in an annoyed tone, completely different from how she treated Nick.
This homeless looking man had a sadistic look on his face, something about the man unsettled Nick and everyone else. A mother moved seats and shielded her child's view with her body, instead pushing a coloring picture to distract them. Everyone had a look of concern on their faces as they watched the encounter.
Nick was just about to step in as the homeless man was raising his voice and causing a commotion, that's when the bell of the diner's door rang and the towns sheriff stepped in.
"Is there a problem, I could hear you from outside." The sheriff looked to be in his early thirties, his badge read Eben Oleson.
'The sheriff? I'm unofficially here to hunt and absorb a bear, it's best not to interact or alert the local officials of my presence here.' Nick knew small town sheriff didnt take too kindly to N.I.A agents.
"Ain't no problem here sheriff, just terrible customer service. This woman won't get me what I want to drink, or eat."
"Selling alcohol is illegal in this town, too many drunkards falling asleep in the snow and dying. This is besides the point, you've been causing a ruckus and I think me and you should step outside." The sheriff sized the homeless looking man up and down.
The entire diner when silent as they intently listened in on the conversation.
The homeless man simply smirked at the sheriff and continued sitting on the diner stool, his eyes locked directly into Shirley's, unsettling her.
"That wasn't a request, I'm taking you outside" The sheriff, Eben, grabbed the man's shoulders only for him to violent shrug his hand off and stand up.
"I'd like to see you try to take me outside..." The tension hit an all time high, Nick could see Eben's hands slowly creep over to his gun.

Nick watched as a beautiful blonde haired woman put the back of her pistol to the homeless man's head.
"Yeah I'd like to see that as well." The man immediately spun around in an attempt to attack her, only for Eben to grab his hands and slam him on to the counter.
"That's enough!" Even immediately handcuffed the homeless man who surprisingly didn't put up a fight.
Nick didn't like this, he didn't know why but this scene just felt... Cinematic? All of that build up and tension made him feel like it was straight out of a movie, and that scared Nick!
He watched as the sheriff took the homeless man out of the diner to the applaud of the onlookers, getting him into the car before driving off.
Nick didn't know if it was just his growing experience or the fact that his instincts have been sharpened from absorbing creatures, but he knew there was something up with that scene.
Nick secretly began loading up his large smith and Weston revolvers before tucking one into his chest holsters and the other into his side holster, he zipped up his winter coat to keep them concealed. These revolvers were huge compared to normal ones, its because they're capable of harming a Polar bear if needed.
'Lets just eat, chase after a bear, then find some secluded places to bunker down.' Thankfully while the commotion was going on the chef didn't bother paying attention, allowing Nick's food to come out without delay.
Without bothering to savor the flavor, he stuffed the steak and eggs into his stomach before leaving the diner. Nick looked up at the fading sun that just barely went under the horizon, his stomach tighted with anxiety

As the sun fell and the world turned inky black, a seemingly abandoned and dilapidated cargo ship creaked with movement.
Two dozen shadows raced out of the cracks of the ship in a blur, their figures moving at great speeds in a single direction.
As these figures rounded a snowy hill, they looked down to see the bright lights of a small town. A sadistic grin bloomed on all of their blood soaked faces!

The engine of Nick's snowmobile came to a stop as he looked down at the carcass of a seal, it's body had been completely eviscerated with chunks strung about.
His thermal vision allowed him to see some warmth from the body, meaning It could've only been an hour old.
"These bite wounds sure don't look like a bear, not to menton a bear would chomp right through the bones. If anything...these bite marks look similar to a human!" Nick felt all of his red flags going up, he didnt dare relax now.
'Of course my Curse luck acts up now! I take a vacation to absorb a bear and i somehow run into an anomaly!'
Nick looked at the bite wounds as his mind went through the images in the Hunting Journal he got from Dean Winchester and all of the books he copied from Bobby singer.
No matter what creature he thought up of, they didn't fit the description of anything he'd read about. They looked like a vampire and werewolf bite had taken place simultaneously!
'When comparing what I remembered from the snakes on a plane movie with the real life scenario, the real life people still roughly follow the plot and acted similar to their movie counterpart. With that tense scene from the diner, this means im probably in a movie or tv scenario, meaning that surely the story takes place in that town!'
Nick knew that the town would most likely be the main location this scenario took place, he wanted to drive away but he doubted he'd survive a month alone in the snow, with no food, warmth, or light.
"For all I know this is from some obscure TV show and it all took place in a few hours, it's best I don't just freak myself out speculating on this and just continue the hunt." Nick didn't know what was going on but he did know that whatever it was, having absorbed a powerful Polar bear would make it much easier to deal with.
Hopping on the snowmobile and starting it up, Nick began cruising through the Alaskan snow with his snakes thermal vision on.
His eyes showed him the occasional seal and bird but not a polar bear, he was just about to give up and head back to the motel he booked when he saw the beast.
It was a large white bear who's fur was painted pink with blood, it's large face was up in the air as it began sniffing heavily. It took just a few seconds of sniffing for the bears to do a 180 and glare directly down at him.
The bear looked to be hungry as it began running over in Nick's direction, it's speed fast and fully intent on eating Nick.
Despite the half a ton apex predator bearing down on him, Nick surprisingly didn't feel fear even without his snakes mindset active. He's fought ethereal ghosts and dozens of mutants, a normal polar bear wasn't something he's scared of, especially since he prepared for it.
With quick but calm speed, Nick had the shotgun in his hand and began firing at the bear while still on the snowmobile. Flashes of light bursted from his Remington as the loud echoes of his gun range out for miles.
The shotgun slugs whizzed through the air and landed on target, the first slug landing on its shoulder blades immediately disabling it and the rest kept coming. Normally when hunting for meat you'd want to kill the animal with least amounts of shots to not ruin ut, but Nick didn't have such a worry.
His shotgun cocked back and forth as he unloaded all of his loaded shells into the bear even when he knew it would've died from the injuries, he didn't want the animal to suffer seeing that it was a sacrifice that was going to make him grow stronger.
As the echoes of his gunfire stopped coming, he got off the snowmobile, took off his winter coat and rolled up his long sleeve shirt to reveal a rectangle made of five boxes on his left arm, three of which had been filled in with symbols.
Without delay he immediately stuck his thumb into one of the bears bullet holes, he didn't have time for theatrics or to properly honor the bear as he suspected he was in a movie scenario.
With a great deal of excitement, he placed his blood thumb into the four empty box.
