Chapter 70: No Martial Morality
Chapter 70: No Martial Morality
Everyone looked closely, and to their shock, the person who had attacked wasn’t just anyone—it was none other than the Demon Prince of the Heavenly Fiend Sect!
That he would lash out so furiously came as a complete surprise to everyone.
While the crowd stood there dumbfounded, Ye Shu stepped forward without the slightest hint of remorse for his surprise attack. Facing the remaining exchange students who had been siding with Wang Man, he said, “Did you all see that? Strength speaks louder than words—this is how we in the Heavenly Fiend Sect treat our guests!”
“Th-this…”
The exchange students’ faces turned pale. Some of them had never seen Demon Prince Ye Shu before and were immediately intimidated. Just how domineering was this Heavenly Fiend Sect Demon Prince? Why had they never heard of him before?
Meanwhile, Wang Man, who had been kicked into a wall, staggered back to his feet, his face contorted in pain. “Ye Shu, what’s your problem? How dare you ambush me like that! Do you have no martial morality? Do you even have a shred of shame? Are you even fit to be a Demon Prince?”
His teeth were clenched, and his hatred for Ye Shu’s sudden kick was palpable.
With those words, the floodgates of criticism from the exchange students opened.
“That’s right! As a Demon Prince, how could you stoop so low as to ambush someone? Have you no shame?”
“Haha, so this is the kind of person the Heavenly Fiend Sect lets become a Demon Prince? What a joke!”
But Ye Shu, hearing their mocking words, remained calm, his expression indifferent. “We’re all demonic cultivators here—why are you talking about martial morality? Are you hypocrites? You can’t have it both ways!”
His words left the exchange students speechless.
Right… they were all demonic cultivators. What was this talk of martial morality? That was something only righteous sects cared about.
But Wang Man, still seething from being kicked, retorted, “Then how do you explain attacking me like that? I never agreed to fight you. According to the rules of the Heavenly Fiend Sect, that counts as breaking the sect’s code!”
There was some logic to what he said. Outside, you could kill and maim as you pleased, but within the Heavenly Fiend Sect, even a Demon Prince had to follow the sect’s rules and set an example.
Faced with Wang Man’s pointed question, Ye Shu let out a faint smile. “You fool, weren’t you trying to buy treasures from our sect at the disciple’s discount price? That clearly violates the rules of the Heavenly Fiend Sect.”
The items sold in the Heavenly Fiend Sect’s Treasure Pavilion were divided into two categories. For disciples, prices were heavily discounted as a perk. For outsiders, however, market prices applied.
Naturally, Wang Man had hoped to take advantage of the disciple’s discount. But as an exchange student, the elder overseeing the Treasure Pavilion would never agree to such a thing.
So, Wang Man had resorted to making a scene, rallying his friends to stir up trouble in front of the Treasure Pavilion. Since the elders couldn’t directly intervene to handle these unruly disciples, the matter had to be resolved by other disciples. Lan Caidie, who happened to be nearby, had tried to mediate, but her efforts had failed to quell Wang Man’s obstinacy.
When Ye Shu saw this, he decided they’d been too lenient with Wang Man and took matters into his own hands.
“No! You must apologize to me today, or else you’ll regret it!” Wang Man growled through gritted teeth, glaring at Ye Shu with murderous intent.
It was clear that Wang Man wouldn’t rest until Ye Shu apologized.
Just as everyone assumed Ye Shu would refuse to apologize, he nodded. “I can apologize, but on one condition.”
“A condition? Hmph, go ahead and say it!” Wang Man sneered, surprised that the Demon Prince of the famed Heavenly Fiend Sect was so cowardly as to apologize after just a few words.
It seemed the legendary Heavenly Fiend Sect wasn’t as impressive as people claimed.
The crowd felt disappointed. What? You’re actually going to apologize to an outsider as a Demon Prince? If that’s the case, then you really don’t deserve to be the Demon Prince of the Heavenly Fiend Sect.
“My condition is this: kneel on the ground and bark like a dog twice,” Ye Shu said calmly, pointing straight at Wang Man.
“You—!”
Wang Man’s face turned beet red with humiliation, his anger reaching its peak.
What kind of condition was this? This was outright treating him like an animal!
At this moment, Wang Man wanted nothing more than to kill Ye Shu.
The crowd gasped in shock. They had thought Ye Shu would actually apologize to Wang Man, which would have been quite dramatic. But it seemed he still had some backbone after all.
Unperturbed by Wang Man’s fury, Ye Shu continued, “What’s wrong with what I said? You seem to enjoy barking like a dog, so I’m giving you the chance to do it properly. And as for kicking a dog by accident, it’s only polite for me to offer an apology, isn’t it?”
His words elicited laughter from some in the crowd.
“A dog?”
They pointed at Wang Man, finding the comparison rather fitting.
Hadn’t Wang Man been barking nonstop in front of the Treasure Pavilion earlier, refusing to listen to reason? Wasn’t he just like a rabid dog, deaf to human words?
This Demon Prince certainly knew how to make a metaphor.
“How amusing,” Lan Caidie murmured from the sidelines, her eyes sparkling with interest.
“Enough!”
Finally unable to contain his rage, Wang Man let out a roar, flames igniting in his eyes as he pointed at Ye Shu. “So what if you’re the Demon Prince of the Heavenly Fiend Sect? How dare you humiliate me! Do you think I, Wang Man, am afraid of you?”
The exchange students tensed. It seemed Wang Man had been pushed to his limit and was about to challenge Ye Shu.
Now things were getting interesting!
Ye Shu regarded him with curiosity. “And what do you plan to do?”
From the look on Wang Man’s face, it was obvious he intended to issue a challenge.
“If you’ve got the guts, let’s fight! Show me your true strength!” Wang Man shouted indignantly.
Before anyone could blink, a swift kick came flying toward Wang Man’s face, fast as a dragon’s strike, impossible to track.
“Ah!”
Wang Man let out a blood-curdling scream as he was sent flying three meters through the air. Blood gushed from his head as he collapsed to the ground, looking utterly pitiful.
“What… what just happened?” Everyone was stunned. Had they seen correctly? They hadn’t even discussed the rules or where to fight yet.
And yet, Ye Shu had already acted, kicking Wang Man flat on his back.
The move was so sudden that no one had time to react!
However, despite his injuries, Wang Man remained conscious. Lifting his head in fury, he spat, “You despicable coward! Who fights like that, ambushing people out of nowhere?”
The crowd couldn’t help but give Ye Shu a strange look. Earlier, he had ignored martial morality, and now he had done it again—completely unexpected.
“He already agreed to fight me, and I accepted. What’s the problem?” Ye Shu asked innocently, spreading his hands wide as if to ask, “What did I do wrong?”
“Well fought! Who cares about fighting fair with scum like him!”
“Demon Prince, we support you! Beat him to a pulp!”
The disciples of the Heavenly Fiend Sect didn’t resent Ye Shu’s actions. On the contrary, they thoroughly approved.
Why bother with martial morality when dealing with someone who had been barking like a dog in the Heavenly Fiend Sect? Teaching him a lesson and putting him in his place was far more satisfying.
Wang Man spat out a mouthful of bloody saliva. “Hmph, so this is the Demon Prince of the Heavenly Fiend Sect? Nothing but a sneak who relies on ambushes to win. Pathetic!”
“Pathetic?”
A voice laced with curiosity rang out.
A golden flash lit up the area, and suddenly, a tall figure appeared before Wang Man. He looked up to see a handsome face staring down at him with amusement.
“If I fight you face-to-face, do you think you stand a chance?”
Without waiting for an answer, Ye Shu lifted his leg and stomped down hard on Wang Man’s face.
