Chapter 71: The One Lying on the Ground
Chapter 71: The One Lying on the Ground
“Mmmph!”
Wang Man tried to say something, but with Ye Shu’s foot pressing down on his face, his features were completely distorted. He couldn’t even manage a coherent word, let alone a plea for mercy.
Everyone watched in stunned silence, their hearts pounding. This Demon Prince was truly ferocious. In just a few moves, he had crushed the genius of Ghost Mountain Sect beneath his feet. Such ruthlessness was beyond what an ordinary person could accomplish.
“Stop! What do you think you’re doing? Is this how you treat exchange students? Where’s the justice in this? Where’s the fairness?”
Suddenly, someone leapt out from behind Wang Man, pointing at Ye Shu and shouting indignantly.
The other exchange students snapped out of their shock and glared at Ye Shu, their anger burning as though they wanted to devour him alive.
Ye Shu met the gaze of the newcomer, a faint smile playing on his lips. “Good. You all saw that, right? Another challenger stepping forward. Don’t accuse me of attacking without cause!”
“What?! What are you talking about?!” Before the man who had stepped forward could process what was happening, a foot came flying toward him, slamming into his face with brutal force.
Crack!
The world spun violently as he was sent tumbling, rolling uncontrollably across the ground before crashing into the group of exchange students behind him, knocking two of them over.
“Damn! Is he really going to act this recklessly?”
“Shh! Keep your voice down! If he hears you, he’ll claim you’re challenging him and take you out next.”
“Right, I’m too scared to even speak loudly.”
The exchange students immediately lowered their voices, watching Ye Shu with lingering fear.
In the blink of an eye, two people had been taken down. It was utterly terrifying—some didn’t even know what hit them before it was over.
Ye Shu swept his gaze over the exchange students and asked, “Any more of you want to challenge me? Speak up now—I’ll gladly take you all on!”
The exchange students promptly clammed up, their mouths sealed shut like mutes, responding only with wide, innocent eyes.
“I heard there’s a Nascent Soul cultivator among you. Why is everyone so quiet?” Ye Shu frowned, puzzled. Earlier, he had overheard whispers that one of the exchange students causing trouble was at the Nascent Soul stage.
He had been curious to test his own abilities after breaking through to the Nascent Soul stage—to see if he could hold his own in a fight.
But after effortlessly taking down two opponents, it felt disappointingly anticlimactic. They crumbled like overripe fruit at the slightest touch, utterly unimpressive.
At that moment, Lan Caidie stepped forward and tapped Ye Shu on the shoulder. “The one lying on the ground—that’s the Nascent Soul cultivator.”
“Huh?”
Ye Shu turned back to look at Wang Man, who was lying on the ground, his face a bloody mess, clutching his head and letting out pitiful cries.
So this was the Nascent Soul cultivator among the exchange students! Ye Shu could sense a similar level of power emanating from him. Who would have thought it’d be this guy?
“How dare you do this to me!” Wang Man covered his bloodied face, glaring at Ye Shu through the gaps between his fingers.
“So what if I did?”
Without hesitation, Ye Shu swung his leg again, delivering a kick as swift and merciless as a streaking meteor. It slammed into Wang Man’s chest with devastating force.
Puff!
A geyser of blood erupted into the air. Wang Man’s body went limp, flopping around like a dead fish before finally collapsing onto the ground, motionless.
The crowd gasped in horror at the sight.
Ye Shu’s decisiveness and cruelty left them speechless. Was there no limit to what he would do?
Lan Caidie, witnessing the scene, looked at Ye Shu with shocked, wide eyes. She leaned in close and glared at him reproachfully. “Are you really this reckless? That was an exchange student! His humiliation reflects poorly on the sects he represents. If we kill him, other sects will accuse the Heavenly Fiend Sect of being lawless and bring shame upon us!”
Ye Shu merely smiled faintly at her admonishment. “Precisely because of that, I acted so harshly. If other sects find out that someone could run rampant in our Heavenly Fiend Sect without consequence, that would truly bring shame upon us.”
Hearing his reasoning, Lan Caidie was momentarily at a loss for words. She sighed deeply. “While this may resolve the immediate issue, it’s not a long-term solution. Once you provoke them, they won’t stop until they’ve exacted their revenge. The disciple tournament is just days away, and now this has happened. During the tournament, they’ll undoubtedly target you with everything they’ve got.”
Seeing Lan Caidie’s worried expression, Ye Shu chuckled. “Senior Sister Lan, are you concerned about me?”
At those words, Lan Caidie’s cheeks flushed red, and she shot him a coy glare. “Concerned about you? Don’t be ridiculous! As the Demon Prince, your every action reflects on the sect. I’m simply reminding you of what’s appropriate and what’s not.”
“Mm-hmm, I understand,” Ye Shu nodded, deciding not to push the matter further.
His gaze shifted to Wang Man, who lay unconscious in a pool of blood. A quick inspection confirmed that he was still alive, though many of his meridians had been shattered by Ye Shu’s earlier kick.
“Damn it! With Wang Man like this, how can he possibly participate in the disciple tournament in two days?”
“This is such bad timing. To stir up trouble like this… how infuriating!”
The exchange students grumbled angrily among themselves. Wang Man was one of their strongest, part of the top tier of their group. Among the exchange students, there were only a handful of Nascent Soul cultivators, and now that Wang Man was incapacitated, they would be short a major powerhouse during the tournament.
As these thoughts crossed their minds, they all turned their gazes toward the tall, imposing figure standing nearby. Beneath that handsome face lay a terrifying strength.
There had been rumors circulating that the Heavenly Fiend Sect’s Demon Prince had reached the Nascent Soul stage, but no one had believed it.
How could it be possible? At just eighteen years old, reaching the Foundation Establishment stage was already remarkable enough to shock people. The Nascent Soul stage? That was an unimaginable level of power!
But after witnessing Ye Shu’s display today, they began to believe the rumors.
Those few strikes had utterly dominated Wang Man, a Nascent Soul cultivator in the early stage. Clearly, Ye Shu possessed at least mid-Nascent Soul level strength.
Terrifying indeed!
“Since no one else is challenging me, feel free to go about your business,” Ye Shu waved dismissively, unwilling to dwell on the matter further.
Whether Wang Man was beaten to a pulp or the exchange students were seething with rage, none of it mattered to him. Did any of this affect his upcoming battles with these riffraff? Not in the slightest. Ye Shu hadn’t come to the Treasure Pavilion to fight; he had come to purchase a puppet body—a new home for Mei Mo.
“What? You mean the high-quality Earth Spirit puppet body has already been sold? Who bought it?”
Upon arriving at the Treasure Pavilion, Ye Shu had learned of a particularly fine puppet body, but it had already been purchased by someone else. Annoyed, he regretted not handling this sooner and securing the item first.
He turned to scan the crowd, searching for the person who had beaten him to it.
Suddenly, a shifty-looking man caught his eye. Trembling under Ye Shu’s gaze, the man hurriedly stepped forward.
“Demon Prince, this belongs to you—it’s my offering to you!”
