After Completing Genocide, I Unlocked The Game System?!

Chapter 6: Is this a horror game?!

"Frisk," I murmured once again with a concerned expression, holding her tightly as her fingers clutched my shirt.

Her breathing had slowed a little, but she was still shaking like a leaf caught in a storm. My mind was racing.

Regression…

What a scary ability, I couldn't help but think.

Imagine happily chatting with a close friend, and the next second they randomly start having a mental breakdown.

If I didn't know what was going on with her, I'd likely just have a confused and concerned expression, not understanding the full gravity of the situation.

But before I could ask, Frisk shivered at the sudden noise in the distance.

I heard it too—a noise echoing from the corridor ahead.

The noise were of uneven footsteps. Wet and heavy, with the jarring sound of something being dragged along.

Frisk quickly wiped her tears with her hand. After realising what she was experiencing wasn't a dream, knowing we were in imminent danger, she swiftly tried to regain her composure.

With a resolute expression, she said quietly, "Kira, we have to hide..."

I nodded at her words, not doubting her.

She grabbed my hand and dragged me toward the nearest stone pillar. I followed without resistance, moving as silently as I could as we ducked behind it. The pillar was fortunately big enough to hide us both, with Frisk tightly clutching my arm.

The sound was getting closer.

Tap. Tap. Tap.

That squelching, dragging sound... it could send chills down anyone's spine.

Eventually… I saw it.

My breath caught.

A figure lurched into view from the shadows ahead, and for a moment I couldn't even process what I was looking at.

It was red.

A deep, ominous red of blood-drenched crimson. Its skin was shiny and damp like it had just been pulled from a vat of raw flesh. Its body was round and tall, with thin lanky legs that propped its body.

The creature's arms were disproportionately long, dragging across the stone floor, each one ending in clawed fingers. Two jagged black horns jutted from its round body.

And in the middle of this body…

A single, massive eye.

The iris was pitch black, like a bottomless pit, and a pupil that glowed eerily. A wide mouth hung slack, filled with rows of needle-like teeth that clicked together with every few steps.

This… this was a Loox?

It looked like Mike Wazowski if someone had skinned him alive and had become the embodiment of evil!

'What the hell kind of difficulty spike is this?!' I cursed internally. 'This isn't a Loox. This is a fucking abomination! What sick horror game have I found myself inside?!'

Although I chose the Genocide route, I found myself doubting whether or not I can even kill it!

Frisk was holding my arm tighter, not daring to even spare a glance at the creature, her eyes shut tight.

Naturally, I couldn't blame her.

It wasn't hard to guess that this was the creature that had killed us. And seeing those rows of sharp teeth... I could imagine it wasn't a pleasant death either...

The Loox paused.

Its enormous eye swung around, scanning the hallway like a searchlight.

My muscles tensed as its gaze swept dangerously close, but I hid myself completely before it could spot me.

I didn't move.

I didn't even breathe.

But then…

Silence.

I peeked again, just for a split second.

Its back was turned.

It had moved on, dragging it's arm along in the direction me and Frisk had come from.

I exhaled slowly, glancing down at Frisk.

We'd made it.

It hadn't notice us.

But just as I felt my heart rate begin to lower, a melodious sound suddenly appeared from my pocket.

Ring ring ring! Ring ring ring!

My soul nearly evacuated out of my body.

The cellphone!

I cursed inwardly!

Frisk's face went pale and I felt my body turn tense.

The Loox froze. Then, its head snapped to the side, its large eye locking onto the pillar we're hiding behind.

That massive eye glowed with an unholy focus.

Fuck my life!

I felt Frisk's grip tighten around my arm—at first subtle, then desperate. Her nails bit into my skin with a tremble that wasn't just fear, but memory.

She wasn't just scared.

She was remembering. The pain. The cold. The death. The helplessness.

I gritted my teeth and quickly realised I had to act or we'll both die once again!

"Frisk," I murmured quickly. "Run—"

"No!" she snapped, her voice sharp with panic. "I can't—I can't just leave you to die again!"

Before I could respond, the Loox lunged forward, crashing toward the pillar like a deranged beast. The air split apart with a high-pitched screech as its claws scythed through the air.

I shoved Frisk aside and rolled out of the way.

The Loox's claw smashed into the stone where we'd just been. An explosion of rock and debris burst outward. A chunk of the pillar was ripped off, fragments pelting my face as I hit the ground in a rough roll.

"Damn it—!" I hissed, barely able to recover before the monster's eye locked onto Frisk.

She was scrambling to her feet, but the Loox was faster.

Its claw lifted.

Time slowed.

No, no, no—!

Without thinking, I yanked the damn phone from my pocket and chucked it at the creature with every ounce of force I had.

It struck the side of its eye, making it recoil in rage. Just enough of an opening.

I then surged forward toward the monster, whilst simultaneously snatching up a jagged shard of the broken pillar off the ground. It was sharp and uneven, the perfect weapon!

With all the force I could muster, I drove it into the creature's side with both hands.

But—

"What the—!?" I gasped. The shard dug in… but barely!

Its skin was like stone. It resisted me, the shard trembling in my grip as I pushed.

I gritted my teeth and used all my strength. From sheer desperation, inch by inch, it pierced into the monster's flesh and had cracked through the surface!

The monster screeched, twisting its body violently.

It quickly swung one of its long arms.
