After Surviving the Apocalypse, I Built a City in Another World

Chapter 1473: Trade Concluded!

Similarly, Misha looked at the man. Although the couple didn't tell her a lot of things, just in case she'd be forced to spill anything, she could surmise a few things.

For example, this strong aborigine was one of them.

She wondered how they got him to help…

Hesso saw the two staring at each other and gritted his teeth. "She's mine!" he yelled, grabbing the woman's shoulder to pull her close to him.

Enok ignored them and looked at Mafo.

"I will report this to our lord," he said. "If they do end up helping with our war, we might talk about future business—but I recommend you lower the price."

Before he turned, he looked at Misha again. "You must keep the ones alive," he said. "I will not buy merchandise that are more damaged than they already are."

Of course, many men's greed knew no bounds, and Mafo was a prime example of this. "We will require you to pay half of that amount," he said. "What if better clients come along?"

"I clearly told you I do not have the money on me anymore," Otto said. "However, I can make an oath that, within the next three days, if the elementalists did prove useful to us regardless of their states, then I might buy them but for a lower cost."

Mafo showed off his teeth. "Then you better hurry back, then."

Where did Mafo get the confidence to be so arrogant despite selling 'spoiled goods'? Because if he were them, he'd really throw those infected to the orcs! Maybe those orcs could spread it amongst themselves!

In most aborigines' minds, Meat shields were meat shields! Regardless of their conditions, if they did what they were bought for, then there should be no issues.

In any case, Enok's team ushered the people into the carriages, with the weaker ones squeezing in as much as possible, while the stronger ones had the option of following on foot.

"As you can see, not everyone can fit," the Mercenary said, looking at the slaves in mixed expressions. He was laso disgusted—who wouldn't—though he didn't mean too much harm.

This was actually Senson from the Takoda Mercenary Team. Like Enok, they were hired here along with the team, though for obvious purposes, he didn't come with them to escort the carriage.

Seeing many people who were ill squeezed together like sardines, their dirt, grime, and pus rubbing together, a lot of the Terrans opted to just walk in the end.

Senson nodded. "Very good."

Raz, who was beside them smiled, making some ladies blush. "Don't worry, we'll protect you."

They gaped, unsure why these people were being so kind to them. Their cynical selves actually felt more afraid, as if they were pigs off to slaughter.

Otto ignored the interactions and went to the only closed carriage there. He opened the carriage door, but just wide enough for him to see what was inside.

Inside were Silvia and Rowan. "I only managed to secure 2000 for now," he said. "And that'd leave a little over a thousand more infected, yes?"

"From our information, yes." This did not include the few hundred 'healthy' ones who were placed in a different location. They could either be like Misha, who were women of high-ranking people in the territory, or they were strong enough to be directly part of the barracks.

"Hm… I'll figure something out," he said. He then gave them his map, and pinned a location on it.

"Obi and a few other guards are there," he said. "He has a messenger bird with him. Get them to send this to Alterra as soon as possible."

"We will get as many of those remaining slaves as we can within 3 days."

To the surprise of Mafo and the others, "Enok" did not enter the carriage and just watched it leave with them. They watched as he headed back to the gates, stopping just in front of them.

"I'll wait for a letter from my Lord in the post office," he said, looking at Mafo. "Can I trouble your people to alert me if a letter under Enok was sent?"

Mafo and the others smiled slyly. "Of course."

The most affected people were Yulia, Gina, including the people who had taken the baths earlier. Their states were visually a lot worse than those who took a bath when the soap was relatively diluted.

Except for the two girls, however, the rest had no idea this was part of a plan to rescue them. Rather, even Yulia and Gina had their doubts. What if everything was just a ploy to get them cheaper? What if they were still slaves to evil people in the end?

The two were conflicted, while the others were just scared. After all, all they knew was that they were ill and were being taken elsewhere. What if they were going to get sacrificed? Burned?

The only comfort was that the carriages didn't go too fast, so the ones on foot weren't too far left behind, and the ones inside the carts weren't too uncomfortable.

Of course, with two thousand people meant that they were extremely attractive to mobs. Fortunately, considering the number of beast carts they had, the fact that mercenaries were strong made things manageable.

The mercenaries did their best to protect them. The ones outside were also asked to help defend. And, unlike what they were used to, they were told to prioritize their lives!

They were really confused, but they didn't have the time to question too much because they were busy protecting themselves.

It was a bit chaotic, but the mercenaries were organized and made sure the slaves didn't worsen the chaos. No, there were also many cases where the mercenaries risked their own skins to save someone.

The slaves were confused as to why the mercenaries were fighting so hard to protect them, especially since they were ill. But they could only be confused and they could only wave the weapons handed to them by instinct.

Since the mercenaries didn't want them to die, they'd do their best, too!

It was just that the mob that attacked them wasn't small. A monster passed the mercenaries' defenses and headed straight to attack the cart!!

Gina and the others—who were all sitting in an open-air cart—gasped, looking at the terrifying monster as it opened its mouth to eat them.

What made everything worse was that they were all squeezed in and couldn't move at all!

"Ahhh!"

"Help us!"

"Nooo!!"

ROAAAARRR!

Unexpectedly, just before the monster's jaw closed, a sharp projectile wheezed through, bringing a strong gust of wind that threw the monster off its jump.

It slammed down to the ground, an arrow embedded in its body. The hit was critical, but it was still alive.

However, before it could jump back on its feet, the sharp slash of a wind blade sliced through the air, slicing through the monster's thick skin!!

Bang!

It finally fell down, lifeless.

The slaves gaped, and flinched when they felt something land lightly on the roof above them. They could feel a person walking over to the side of their roof, and they flinched when they saw the man's head look down at them.

It was a dark-skinned and dashing man, staring at them in concern.

"You alright?" he asked, his tone was sincere, as if he really cared.

However, what truly made them cry was something else.

He spoke in Terran language!!
