Chapter 8: Chapter 8- Home
Damon~
I crouched down onto a knee and looked into his eyes, His amber shade stared right back at me like he had seen me before, like he recognized me. It felt like I was looking at a younger me, stripped away of all the pain and confusion, Innocent with an unsullied mind, I smiled as I stood up and stretched my hand forward, he hesitated for a second before letting go of her palm and holding unto mine, a smile curved my lips as I felt his soft tiny hands in my mine.
"Thank you," I said to the receptionist as I turned around and walked out of the building, he followed me in silence but stopped when we got to the SUV, he turned to look at me.
"Where are you taking me mister" He asked his tiny squeaky voice a pleasant delight to my ears, I leaned down to his level before I answered.
"Home Elliott, I'm taking you home".
"My mom said I shouldn't go anywhere with strangers" he replied, I raised a brow at his unexpected words.
"Really, then why did you follow me outside" I asked the smile on my lips growing.
"Because he trusts you" Elliott answered happily.
"Who is he?" I asked, slightly confused by his choice of words.
"My friend"
"Your imaginary friend?" I asked with a chuckle.
"No, he's not imaginary, he's real, he lives in my head, my mom said I'm special" Puzzled I moved back a little before I said.
"Describe him"
"Well, when I try to picture him all I can really see is a doggy" Elliott answered, as I heard the words my eyes widened with disbelief, I rose to my feet and stepped back.
"Daniel" I called out and Daniel poked his head through the window of the car.
"Yes"
"What's the youngest age a wolf can manifest" I asked, my eyes still fixed on Elliott.
"The earliest manifest recorded was you at age ten" Daniel answered then slipped back into the car, I leaned down to his level and gently held his shoulders.
"You are more than special," I said joyfully "Trust me, before we leave we gonna see your mom," I said in a comforting tone and opened up the door for him, he smiled and walked to the door but was too little to enter himself, he looked back at me with puppy eyes that made me feel something warm in my chest.
"Need a lift" I asked an obvious question, he nodded in response so I lifted him from his shoulder and sat him comfortably on the seat.
"Settled in?"
"Yes".
"Good," I said with a smile as I closed the door turned to the other side, and entered into the back seat so I could sit beside him.
"Change of plans, we're going to make a stop" I Announced.
"Can I ask where?" Daniel asked as he turned the key and the engine of the car came alive with a roar.
"somewhere you won't like" I answered him calmly as I relaxed into my seat and gently patted Elliot's head.

By the time they got to the detour Elliott had already fallen asleep, Daniel parked the car in the street in front of the house and they all stepped out.
"This is nice" Tom commented "Why are we here".
"To avoid problems" I explained as I walked down the path to the front door with Elliott in my arms still fast asleep, it was locked as expected so I stepped back and Kendra stepped forward, she leaned down to the keyhole and one of her fingernails began to extend till it became up to 6 inches longer, she stuck her long nail into the key and after a bit, I heard a click, she stood and pushed the now unlocked door.
"Tom," I said and Tom slipped into the house, it took him a few seconds before he came back out.
"It's empty," he said and we all walked in, I gently placed him on the longest chair I could find and made sure he was comfortable before I left him.
"Who owns this place" Tom asked as he looked around inspecting the furniture and ornaments that had been used to decorate the room.
"Her" Daniel answered before I could with his finger pointed at a portrait on the wall.
"Awwwwwwn that little filth," Kendra said with a mischievous smile, I remained quiet as I continued to look around the house, I walked into the passage and there were three rooms, I walked into the first one and it was empty, containing only with cardboard boxes and dust, I left the room and went into the next one, this one belonged to Elliott, The walls were painted a bright blue with various sketches on the walls, I walked further to his room and reached the small wooden drawer beside his bed, there was a note on top with the words 'I am Elliott" inscribed with truly terrible handwriting, I chuckled as I picked it up and began to flip through, sketch after sketch, each one better than the last, all of her.
"Wow," I thought as I flipped through it, How could a six-year-old do this, I was about to put the book down when the last page of the book caught my eye, I turned to it and my eyes widened with amazement, a wolf cub had been sketched, even though it was only its head the details were explicit and there was something that stood out the most, the wolf's eyes were the exact same color with his, I smiled and put the note down, I was about to reach for a stuffed bunny when I Daniel walked in.
"You wanna tell your advisor why this detour was necessary" He said, I turned to him and looked at him before turning back and picking up the bunny.
"Why do you think, there are sectors separating humans and werewolves" I asked.
"Cause humans and wolves don't get along"
"True" I admitted "There's a treaty designed to keep the peace between the two races and in that treaty it specifies that unprovoked wolves aren't allowed to do anything to harm humans".
"I know that"
"So what do you think would happen when a model citizen reports that her child has been kidnapped and it's traced back to wolves?" I asked.
"Still—" He was about to say but I cut him off
"Even though I want to live it won't be at the cost of the pack's safety, Humans aren't as weak as they once were, they outnumber us 10 to 1 if we want to stop her from reporting to the police, we have to make her know it is us so she realizes that doing so could as well expose her and ruin the perfect life she had tried to build" I explained and as if on cue I heard the screech of tires from outside the house.
"Guess she's here," I said and walked past Daniel, I entered back into the parlor and sat on the couch where Elliott slept, and unconsciously he shifted and rested his head on my lap, I smiled and gently stroked his hair as she pushed the door open and walked in.
"Dina Meyers" I greeted my voice cold and my stare even colder.
