Apocalypse: I Can See the HP Bar, Killing Monsters Drops Loot

Chapter 772: The Night Demon Appears (Part 2)

...

Unknowingly, night had fallen.

Wang Tao was currently resting in a village. If it weren't for the Golden Eagle, he would have returned by now, but with the Golden Eagle, he saved a lot of physical strength and could continue fighting.

"Let's go, to the next destination."

The next destination was a city, estimated to have quite a few zombies, but the most important thing was that there were survivors from a research facility here.

Changhe Base had long discovered the survivors here, but unfortunately, there were too many zombies, and the probability of safely bringing these survivors back was very low, so they had yet to take action. Instead, they occasionally airdropped some supplies to help them hang on.

Wang Tao had no airdrop supplies left, but he didn't plan to airdrop anything. He intended to directly bring these survivors back, on the premise that they were still alive.

The Golden Eagle quickly flew over the city, and from a distance, the howls of zombies in the city could be heard. When he got closer, he could truly experience the "Hundred Corpses Night Walk."

"Hmm?" Seeing the appearance of a few zombies, Wang Tao raised an eyebrow, "Night Demon Zombies, they finally appeared..."

This generation of zombies evolved much faster than the previous one. Wang Tao estimated that the timing of the Night Demons' appearance would also be earlier, and sure enough, they appeared now.

In the dark, Night Demons were stronger in combat than most zombies. At a minimum, Night Demons were Elite Level, and the combat power of the Night Fiend Elite was comparable to a Lord of the same level. Although the Night Demon Lord's combat power wasn't as strong as a Disaster Class of the same level, it still far exceeded an ordinary Lord!

Wang Tao wasn't afraid of these Night Demons; he was just a little worried about the safety of those research facility survivors. He was mainly here for these people. If they were all dead, wouldn't Wang Tao have come for nothing?

Fortunately, after Wang Tao carefully scouted, he found traces of those survivors. The good news was that they were still alive; the bad news was that their neighbor was the Night Demon's Nest, and they could be discovered at any moment.

Of course, since Wang Tao was here, there was no bad news anymore.

Swoosh—

Wang Tao landed on the rooftop of a building like a cannonball.

The Night Demon's Nest was in this building, and the survivors were in the adjacent building.

Wang Tao could sense a Level 4 Night Demon inside this building, so it was just right to eliminate these Night Demons before going to rescue the survivors.

"Roar—"

At the instant Wang Tao landed, the Night Demons noticed him and charged out from the stairwell. Facing these hideous, terrifying monsters, Wang Tao's expression remained unchanged, and he charged at them.

...

"Hey? That building next door seems like there's some noise? Did any of you hear it?"

"Uh, there's zombie cries everywhere outside; what noise are you talking about?"

"Maybe I heard it wrong..."

"..."

In a building, many survivors huddled together. Although they knew they had to sleep well at night because they had to search for food during the day, they still couldn't sleep. They were too hungry, so hungry that they couldn't fall asleep.

Earlier, someone with keen hearing thought they heard something from the building next door, but the others didn't hear anything. Besides, the apocalypse nights weren't quiet; there were zombie sounds everywhere. If there was noise, it was normal; if there wasn't, that would be unusual. So they didn't care much.

They just wanted to fall asleep quickly, but unfortunately, the hunger was too unbearable. It was a feeling worse than death; if it weren't for some lingering humanity, they might have already turned on their companions.

But even if they could hold on tonight, they didn't know how many nights they could endure, or if they would end up like other survivors they had encountered before, eating companions when there was no food, or even eating themselves…

Boom, boom, boom—

Suddenly, they felt like the ground was vibrating. At first, they thought it was a hunger-induced hallucination, but the tremors became bigger and more obvious!

"What's that noise!"

"Could it be an earthquake..."

"It's over..."

Everyone was startled. After mutual confirmation, they realized it wasn't a hallucination: the building was really shaking!

And they were on the top floor, the 15th floor. If it turned out to be an earthquake, it would be their grave!

But after a moment of panic, they all sighed in despair and stopped struggling.

There were zombies downstairs, and the zombies were extremely active at night. There was no way they could avoid the zombies' perception, going outside would mean death.

"Better to die in an earthquake than be eaten by zombies..."

This was the thought of many. They were too hungry to put up a fight. If they could be buried instantly by a building collapse and die without pain, that might even be a relief.

"Wait—what's that you're looking at!"

At that moment, someone exclaimed.

Following the voice, everyone looked and felt a chill run down their spines—

In the dim moonlight, a zombie like a giant emerged from the darkness, as tall as the 15-story building!

With each step, the ground thudded, and the building slightly trembled.

"It's not an earthquake..."

Their gazes were blank. Though it wasn't an earthquake, this was more terrifying.

Fortunately, the Giant Zombie was not heading toward them; its target was clearly the building next door.

No one dared to breathe, afraid to attract the Giant Zombie. While death would be a relief, who wanted to die if they could survive?

As they prayed for the Giant Zombie to leave, two red beams suddenly shot out from the rooftop of the next building, instantly hitting the Giant Zombie's head.

The colossal body of the Giant Zombie staggered for a moment, almost falling.

"What just happened?"

They were all bewildered until they saw a figure in a red cape fly out of the next building! Those two red beams came from that figure!

"A flying mutant zombie?"

Seeing that figure, they instinctively thought it wasn't human but a zombie, as they had never seen such a powerful human before. But with the clouds dispersing in the sky and moonlight shining down, they finally realized that it was not a zombie but a human!

"A superhero... from the comics?!"

While they pinched their companions to ensure they weren't dreaming, the figure was flipping back and forth, actually suppressing the Giant Zombie!

"Oh my..."

The Giant Zombie looked terrifying, but it was no match for this person, unable even to touch his cape!

Initially, they thought the Giant Zombie only looked scary but lacked real fighting ability. However, when they saw the Giant Zombie smash a small building with a single slap, they knew the Giant Zombie wasn't weak; the person was just too strong!

In just a moment, the Giant Zombie fell with a thud and didn't get up again.

Before they could react, that figure suddenly flew over, hovering outside the window in an instant. In the moonlight, they finally saw the person's face clearly.

"It's definitely a human..."

"So, are we... saved?"

"..."

Outside the window, Wang Tao glanced at the survivors, confirming they hadn't been infected by the zombie virus, and then called for the Golden Eagle.

"Coo—"

The now gigantic Golden Eagle flew a circle outside and landed on the rooftop. Seeing the still-dumbfounded people, Wang Tao promptly said:

"Hurry up and get on, I'll take you away!"

Wang Tao wasn't currently interested in these researchers; he just wanted to get back as soon as possible because, after destroying the Level 4 Night Demon's Nest, Wang Tao realized he seemed to have enough Crystal Cores for his ascension to Level 5!
