Chapter 159: Untitled
"Stay in a straight line, done blame me if you lose a hand standing here" A city official said moving down a long line inside the city walls.
Even now, the horded was getting more vicious outside with the battle field painted in blood and mush. However, the stark opposite was the case inside the city.
It felt like nothing was happening as the denizens went around their own businesses.
Unfortunately for the outsiders this wasn't the case.
"Means of identitfication and gate fee" a lady seemingly in her thirties said stretching her palm out.
The horde was no excuse to ease the immigration process. They wouldn't accept nobodies not now, nor even when the city was ablaze.
"Here"
A metallic card was placed on the wooden desk infront of the line and passed forward followed by a bag of coins.
The official behind the desk quickly grabbed both and scrutinized the bag of coins first.
"Seems about right" he smirked placing the bag of coins into the hands of a young man beside him with ragged clothes.
"You're a slayer?" The official after picking up the license asked.
"Yes" the young man in strange military uniform responded with a lazy look on his face. He just wanted to get it over with and head into the stronghold.
This wasn't his final stop after all.
"Guilliman Naldir….this is from the blacksteel shelter right?" The female offical smirked coyly an expression of contempt hidden in her eyes.
The Blacksteel shelters people had been flooding into the kong stronghold a lot in the past few months. The war against the nightmare desert was a major trial for them and the few that couldn't take it anymore were running away.
It was a disgusting show of cowardice, but also understandable. The rumors of the horrors of that gate had gotten into their cities too, they could only sigh and hope the clearing army would be enough.
"Yes" Guilliman responded with a nod, no emotion apparent in his face.
"Your license is expired, you need to get a new one before entering" the lady said calmly using the strength in her fingers to break the card in two.
"But seeing your predicament…I am sympathetic. I'll let you in for 20 yellow stones" she smiled in greed.
Guillimans uniform was from the nightmare clearing army, clearly he was running from something. Going back was really not an option. This was one of the many benefits of the war for them.
"I only have gold coins. Or will you accept a red stone?" Guilliman said calmly.
Bribery was well and alive in the alliance, in fact it had sort of become a culture. He wasn't In support of it but had to admit that it made things easier.
"Red stone please" the lady quickly raised her hand forward.
Gold coins were important, but only to massive organizations. She was a lone officer, stones were much better in the short term.
Moment later, Guilliman and the old devil were given entry into kong shi as they made their way forward, away from the slaughter happening outside the city.
"I must thank you sir for saving my life, such a benefactor only comes once in a life time. Please is there anything I can do?"
Existing through and alleyway, Guilliman, the old devil and the merchant appeared on one of the streets of kong stronghold.
"There's a lot you can do" The old devil responded instead of Guilliman.
The kid was strong, but also a bit wet behind the ears. He wanted to move to king shi because of his friends, but didn't think of where to stay, how to make a living and how to stay alive.
Kongshi wasn't your run of the mill stronghold, it was a crime infested cesspool of corruption and filth. Not only that, most of the people committing these crimes were quite powerful themselves.
He would hate to hear one day that guilliman was killed in his sleep because of some random mugger.
"We need a place to lay our heads for a few days, and maybe some information on public smithies" the old devil continued as they walked down the street.
They had savings, a lot of it. But kong shi was an expensive place to live in. They would sooner need to convert their currency talk less of finding a place.
The streets of kongshi were dangerous however…so they had to make due.
"A place? I graciously welcome you to my home great sirs!!" The merchant immediately beamed bowing his head in their direction.
Forget that kid at the gate, this one looked like the real deal, that creature he road in on was monsterous and that meant he himself was powerful.
Pulse that uniform….nightmare desert clearing.
This kid was a former member of those crazies. They dared to go against the ancient fiends that destroy ravenskeep and were still fighting.
Having someone like that around was a sure way to get complete protection.
"Thank you" Guilliman bowed casually then his mind drifted away once again into the distance.
Somewhere in the king shi stronghold there were people he hadn't seen in years. People he had to see one more time, they would be very helpful for what was to come.

"Hmm, 1 hour for a blue horde, that's an improvement"
Back on the wall, a man in knighted padding stood with a ticking clock in his hand. Far in the distance, the army of slayers that initially flooded out of the city to destroy the horde had all but finished the beasts there.
"Thats good, we'll probably be able to qualify for the tornument," the knight added.
But there was a trance of disappointment in his eyes. His men had improved by a lot, but they could only go so far. Just qualifying.
"Heheh Brother, how do you hope to woo the burning witch with these weak men? So disappointing" right next to the padded knight a young girl with jaggered and sharp teeth commented in a mocking tone.
She looked rather vicious.
