Chapter 305: Seeing Wanderers Again
As Daniel's words echoed out, silence suddenly fell around them. The eyes of those seven people locked onto him, staring with a scowl.
Even Serys was stunned for a moment. The Wanderers? She knew them—after all, who didn't know one of the biggest intelligence and assassination organizations in the entire world?
But had such people really been hired to assassinate them? And more importantly—how did this boy know they were Wanderers?
Even she hadn't figured it out.
"Interesting. What made you think we're Wanderers?" One of the seven figures floating in the sky suddenly started laughing, then asked.
"I have a friend who's like you. You guys have a very specific aura... it's a lot like his," Daniel smiled as he answered.
He'd always been curious about what exactly connected the Wanderers, what marked someone as one of them.
And now he understood—it was a unique aura they had. An aura that no other living being in the world possessed, something exclusive to all Wanderers.
It's probably because of some technique they train in... that attack on the carriage must've been part of that technique too, he thought to himself.
The Wanderer who had spoken earlier started clapping for Daniel, a flicker of admiration flashing in his eyes.
"The aura of a Wanderer isn't something just anyone can remember," he said—though clearly, he didn't mean it so simply.
Daniel understood that too. Wanderers always hid that they were Wanderers. They concealed their identities to avoid any trouble during their missions.
After all, if everyone knew they were Wanderers, they'd attract too much attention, and even their target might sense something, launch a counterattack—or just flee.
That's why, despite the fact that they had a unique aura exclusive to them, very few could sense it. Even those who did, unconsciously forgot it after a while.
And that was exactly why all seven of them were now surprised—how did this young boy still remember their aura?
"What can I say—I've got a good memory," Daniel laughed and drew his sword.
"I really want to know—what's your friend's name?" the Wanderer asked. He still had doubts about how this boy could recognize the aura of the Wanderers.
Such a thing shouldn't be possible. No matter how strong a person is, something like this simply isn't doable—unless they were at least a Heavenly Climber. But the boy standing before him wasn't even close to that level.
So how had he managed to counter their technique? Was it because of some kind of item or treasure? He even considered the possibility that there might be a spy among the Wanderers.
What a joke. The Wanderers were a spy organization themselves—how could there be a spy within them? But then again, a spy from who? Maybe one of their rivals?
He had to find out this boy's friend's name so he could run the necessary checks and reports later.
"My friend's name was Kain," Daniel said casually. "Though honestly, he seemed more like a rookie to me."
Kain? That kid's a genius—personally favored by the organization's leader. There's no way he's a spy. Which means... this boy must have some kind of item, he thought with a frown.
Because the fact that this kid knew Kain could lead to even more trouble.
"I'm starting to get tired of this, tell me who hired you, and I'll let you live," Daniel said calmly—but there was a dark and deadly killing intent hidden within his words.
"Kid, don't get cocky. I don't know how the hell you still remember our aura, but that doesn't mean I'm scared of you," one of the Wanderers growled, and all their auras surged once more.
"Think we can take them?" Serys looked at Daniel and asked.
There was no worry or fear in her eyes. Even though their enemies looked much stronger on the surface, she didn't care one bit.
"Don't worry. Compared to the ones I've fought before, these seven are just trash."
Serys nodded and got ready to fight.
"Hmph. Two fools who have no idea what's waiting for them," one of the Wanderers let out a cold snort, then looked at the others.
"Kill the girl, but keep the boy alive. We need to find out how he still remembers our aura," he said, pointing to three others besides himself.
"The four of us will take the boy. The rest of you—go deal with the girl."
"But isn't the girl stronger? Shouldn't four go after her instead?" one of the Wanderers asked.
"No... I've got a bad feeling about that boy. We should play it safe."
The other six nodded and charged.
"Can you handle them?" Daniel asked the girl next to him as he saw them attacking.
"Yeah, no problem. Don't underestimate me," Serys replied proudly, then charged toward the three who were coming at her.
At the same time, the Wanderers formed a circle around Daniel.
One of them pulled out his daggers and attacked.
[Shadow Whip]
Venomous strands, like black snakes, surged toward Daniel.
He only laughed and activated one of his defensive skills. A blood-colored shield formed around him and blocked the attack.
With a mocking smile, he said, "That's the best you've got?"
Then he struck back with [Strike of Destruction].
The blade of Heavens Honor shone with a black-and-white aura of destruction, and with a single horizontal slash, shattered the venomous strands and flung the attacking Wanderer backward.
The attacker slammed into a large tree, and his daggers fell from his hands.
"Attack! Little Three's down! Little Two, you're up!" The other Wanderers didn't miss the chance and lunged with full force.
"'Little'? What kind of dumb codenames are these?" Daniel sighed.
Little Two attacked.
[Blade Tempest]
His chains created a storm of crystal blades that tore through the ground.
Daniel responded with [Aspect of the Law of Moonlight], releasing a silver light that dispersed the storm. Then, he counterattacked with [Eyes of Destruction].
Black and red beams shot from his eyes, slicing through Little Two's chains and slamming him to the ground.
"Playing with chains? Unfortunately, you chose the wrong opponent."
