Chapter 332: Preferring Suicide
[Apocalypse Skill Activated]
The sky above the palace turned blood-red, as if the world had been ripped open.
The ground trembled, and an aura of absolute darkness mixed with silver light swallowed the courtyard. Fallen shadows appeared—like an army of ghosts with hollow eyes.
A massive shockwave, woven from blood, death, and moonlight, formed in the sky. It erupted, reducing the palace to ashes and shattering its pillars.
Velkan defended with [Wall of Eternal Flames] and [Flaming Shadow], but it was useless.
He gave it everything he had to block the strike. Every cell in his body screamed that if that thing touched him, he would definitely die.
The apocalyptic wave shattered his shield, melted his molten metal armor, and dragged his body into a storm of death.
His arms and legs turned to ash, his eyes dimmed, and he came to the brink of death.
His body had nearly collapsed—he was inches away from dying.
Serys was horrified by the scene. It was even scarier than the moment she had fought Velkan.
Was this Daniel's true power? This level of strength was beyond anything she had ever seen. How could someone her age possess such terrifying might?
This attack could even bring a False Divine Climber to their knees, let alone someone like a Half Step Divine Climber.
"Lana said this boy lost to him… but the truth is Daniel completely held back." She swallowed nervously.
Rynor wasn't too surprised. After all, he had already tasted this skill—it was the same one that had destroyed his previous body.
Serys, remembering Daniel's broken body, became anxious and distressed, trying to get up.
She even considered that he might have sacrificed himself to unleash this attack.
But to her shock, Daniel's shattered body began to regenerate automatically—as if by miracle. Within seconds, a new Daniel was rebuilt.
"That's twice I've died in less than a week," he sighed, glancing around.
He took a quick look at the notifications from the Mother System:
[You have died] [An extra life has been used automatically] [Please choose one of your Fallen to die in your place]
Daniel didn't think much about it and picked one of the weaker ones. Then he turned to Serys and Rynor.
"Are you two alright?"
"You! How are you alive?" Serys rushed toward him, looking at him in shock and disbelief. She looked like she had just seen the most unbelievable thing in her life.
"It was an item that can save a life once. Someone important in my life gave it to me," Daniel explained with a smile.
Naturally, he didn't mention anything about his extra lives.
"I see," Serys nodded after a moment of thought. She had heard of such items, though she'd never seen one before.
This time, she looked at him with a hint of envy. How important must you be for someone to give you something like that?
"Anyway, he's still alive, right?" she then asked, looking toward Velkan.
Daniel didn't answer and walked over to check Velkan's vitals. Thankfully, he seemed to still be alive.
However, he was in terrible shape. His arms and legs had turned to ash, and his veins were pitch black, showing that his blood was dying.
If things continued like this, he would definitely die. But he should still be able to answer a few questions, right?
Daniel injected a small amount of Eternity Energy into him. The energy entered his body, gave him a slight shock, and stabilized his vital signs.
Velkan slowly opened his eyes and looked around in confusion. It didn't take long for him to realize what had happened.
"So I lost," he muttered to himself—shocked and almost in disbelief.
"Don't take it personally. It's not your fault. I'm just too strong," Daniel said with a smile, hoping to comfort him a bit.
Instead, it seemed to backfire. Velkan coughed up blood and stared at him with bloodshot eyes.
"In any case, I guess now you'll answer our questions," Serys stepped in and asked seriously, "That person you mentioned—who is it? The one who told you how to steal that weapon?"
"Hahaha, give it up. I already told you. Even if I die, I won't tell you anything," Velkan laughed mockingly.
"Really? There are many ways to make you talk," Daniel smirked and activated [Enchanter Of Hearts].
Suddenly, Velkan's emotions began to stir.
"How about you tell us who they are? We can even talk about sparing your life—maybe even saving you."
He felt like… maybe he should talk. Maybe revealing that person's identity wasn't such a bad idea.
If he did, maybe he could live. Isn't staying alive the most important thing? Besides, he felt like he could trust this masked man.
Surely, he'd protect him from that person… right?
But just as he opened his mouth to speak, he was overwhelmed with a sudden, indescribable terror, and his mouth clamped shut again.
What were those blasphemous thoughts he had just now? Was he really about to disobey that person? If she found out, she would definitely kill him!
"He's resisting?" Daniel noticed from Velkan's expression that he was going through some intense inner conflict.
Was that person really so important in his mind that he wouldn't betray her no matter what?
"Haha, I'm not telling you anything! Forget it! I don't care if I die today! She will definitely avenge me!" Velkan suddenly shouted, and his body began to inflate like a balloon.
"Maybe you won today, but every dawn comes with a dusk! Her reign will come soon enough!"
"Shit! Fall back!" Daniel shouted, sensing something was wrong. The three of them instantly flew dozens of meters back.
Velkan kept expanding until he exploded, sending his organs and blood flying in all directions—dead.
"Damn it," Daniel frowned. Clearly, he hadn't expected that bastard to pull something like that. Was he insane?
Still, his frown quickly faded. He had already considered the possibility that this idiot might try to kill himself.
But so what? That fool didn't know Daniel could easily turn him into a Fallen anyway.
