Chapter 364: A Dragon's Tear?
Golden Palace – Valenberg Family
Inside a magnificent hall, figures with faces hidden in mist sat silently. Their auras were completely suppressed; otherwise, the world itself would tremble from their presence.
Even though their faces were obscured, the suffocating and cold atmosphere made it clear that the situation was bad and that they were angry.
Everywhere was silent. None of them seemed willing to speak—until finally, one of them grew tired of the silence and opened his mouth.
"A dragon has appeared after seven hundred years, and it has even destroyed the spiritual body of one of our ancestors," said the one who spoke. Naturally, it was none other than the patriarch of the Valenberg family.
"Never thought I'd see a dragon in my lifetime," sighed one of the elders sitting a little further away.
"What should we do? Declare war?"
"War with who? With the dragons? Do you think we even have a chance to win?" another elder scoffed with mockery.
Although they were one of the strongest forces on the continent, they didn't stand even the slightest chance against dragons. In fact, that single dragon alone could destroy them.
And now declare war against such beings? That was nothing but suicide.
"Do you think I'm an idiot? I meant the House of Ten Thousand Treasures! Clearly, all of this was a trap!" the elder said angrily.
The hall went silent for a moment, and everyone adopted thoughtful expressions. Their ancestor had already told them what had happened, and indeed this had been a scheme by those bastards.
"But why would they plot against us? We have no issues with them." Kralis—the patriarch of the Valenberg family—sighed.
The House of Ten Thousand Treasures had always been neutral, never interfering in conflicts. And yet, suddenly, they decided to set up a scheme that slaughtered many Heavenly Kings.
It made no sense at all.
"Could it be they betrayed humanity and sided with the Corruption Beasts?" one of the elders asked after some thought.
His words sent a wave of shock among the gathered, but on second thought, it wasn't impossible either.
Even though Corruption Beasts seemed like mindless creatures only bent on destruction and killing, that wasn't the truth.
They also had ranks of power among themselves, and in fact, they had a central ruling authority that controlled them.
In the past, there had been individuals who betrayed the world and joined the realm of those corruption creatures, serving them.
Now, it was possible that the House of Ten Thousand Treasures had done the same. The death of the Heavenly Kings of the continent could lead to the fall of humanity, and the fall of humanity could mark the beginning of the world's collapse.
Everyone's faces darkened. While the House of Ten Thousand Treasures wasn't the most powerful in raw strength, they were undeniably among the richest.
With the vast equipment and treasures at their disposal, their betrayal could become a disaster.
"If that's the case, what should we do?" asked Telia, the patriarch's wife and his deputy, frowning as she looked at her husband.
"Request a meeting between all the powers of the continent. Notify those otherworldly climbers as well to attend. We must announce this to everyone and form a worldwide alliance against those bastards," Kralis said after some thought.
Everyone nodded, and the elder responsible for public and foreign relations stood up, bid farewell, and left the hall to carry out the task.
"Well then, let's put this matter aside for now. What's the current situation of the Elthanor Empire?" Kralis's tone turned more serious.
Although the issue of the House of Ten Thousand Treasures and taking revenge for their injured ancestor was important, the matter of the Elthanor Empire was of far greater importance.
"Duke William is advancing and taking over more territories. There's no sign of the ancestors or even the founding figure of the Empire, and it doesn't seem like they intend to intervene," said someone from the group as he rose and began explaining the situation.
"As expected. Those old things don't interfere in such matters. As far as they're concerned, as long as the one ruling has their bloodline, it's enough," Telia said mockingly.
"Speed up the plans. No matter what, William must seize power. If necessary, give him more financial support. Just be careful that their ancestors don't catch wind of anything," Kralis nodded and said after some thought.
"If only we could obtain that cursed scroll, we could have solved this issue within a month," sighed one of the elders.
Unfortunately, the House of Ten Thousand Treasures hadn't given up any of their items or treasures, and they couldn't find anything either. Clearly, those treasures had been hidden.
"Perhaps we should just go after the House of Ten Thousand Treasures and find that scroll ourselves," Telia said, glancing at her husband.
"We need to hold a council with the others and see what happens. One way or another, we must obtain that Dragon's Tear," the patriarch agreed with his wife.
With the current situation, resolving the Empire's issue could take decades, and they couldn't afford to wait. One way or another, they had to obtain the Mother Dragon's Tear.
By pure chance, they had discovered that there is a Dragon's Tear in the Elthanor Empire. But the royal family would never hand it to them, and moreover, they didn't want anyone else to know about its existence.
After all it wasn't a normal dragon's tear, but the tear of the mother of dragons
As long as they could get that Tear, they would finally be able to cultivate a Demigod. With a Demigod, they could become a transcendent power.
Too bad they didn't know that the Dragon's Tear had already been taken and used. They would never obtain it.
"In any case, have you found any trace or information about the ones who tied my daughter to a tree and used her identity?" Kralis then shifted the subject.
Naturally, they hadn't forgotten about this matter, yet there wasn't a single trace of those who had done it.
