Being Overpowered in Akame ga Kill

Chapter 129: 129: The Annihilation of Wild Hunt (Part 2)

Everyone in the Wild Hunt knew things had reached a point of no return. From Haruki and Lina's reactions just now, it was clear that what Cartel had said was likely true. And having wiped out an entire noble clan, they knew such hatred wasn't something that could be easily brushed aside.

Backed into a corner, the survivors stopped holding back and unleashed the full extent of their power—desperation driving them to go all in.

Champ was the first to act. Hoping to create an opening for his teammates to strike, he threw the Storm Ball from his Teigu, Chaos Throw: Big Leaguer, toward Haruki's group. His goal was to obstruct any long-range counterattacks. Nina's instantaneous kill of Enshin had left a deep impression—they all knew how terrifying her strength was.

While surprise had played a part, the sheer power behind Nina's Rankyaku was undeniable. None of them believed they could have done better than Enshin in his place.

Nina and the other girls had never slacked in their martial training. Their mastery of the Six Styles was now beyond extraordinary, and that single Rankyaku had demonstrated power far surpassing that of most Teigu.

Champ's strategy was simple: buy time for close combat. Especially for Izou, whose swordsmanship was the most formidable among the Wild Hunt. Champ naively believed that if Izou could just get close, their chances of turning the tide would improve dramatically.

And to an extent, he succeeded.

The moment he threw the Storm Ball, a fierce gale surged between the two sides. The wind was so intense that even Syura, still lying injured behind them, had to squint. Seizing the chance, Izou and Dorothea crossed the distance, charging toward Haruki's group.

Years of fighting together had given the Wild Hunt a deep understanding of each other's Teigu, allowing them to move through the storm winds unimpeded.

But while Champ's plan worked in theory, he didn't live long enough to see it.

Just as Izou and Dorothea neared Haruki's side, the roaring wind suddenly vanished. Confused, the two glanced back—and what they saw sent a chill down their spines.

Champ stood frozen, body arched backward. Thin streams of blood trickled from behind his clown mask, while a vivid red spear had pierced clean through his heart, nailing him to the ground.

There was no question. He was dead.

Scattered at his feet were six distinct orbs—his Teigu, Chaos Throw: Big Leaguer. The Storm Ball he'd thrown earlier was still rolling gently across the floor.

With his death, the Teigu lost its power. The wind died out with it.

Champ's demise had come so swiftly because he had overestimated his Teigu. He believed nothing could pierce the Storm Ball's vortex. In fact, he'd even been planning to rush forward to assist Izou and Dorothea.

What he didn't expect was that Gin's twin spear-type weapons—Gáe Dearg, the Red Rose that Shatters Magic—were perfectly suited to bypass such barriers.

Under Gin's precise throw, Gáe Dearg shot through the raging wind like a javelin, slicing the air apart and driving straight through Champ's heart, pinning him in place in an instant.

"Damn it!"

Seeing another comrade fall in an instant, even Izou—who prided himself on his swordsmanship—lost his composure. Roaring furiously, he charged at Haruki with his Teigu, Kousetsu, hoping to seize the initiative.

"Clang!"

A sharp clash of steel rang out. In a flash, Kurome stepped in front of Haruki, her blade meeting Izou's head-on. Both were wielding Teigu-class swords, and the impact was explosive.

Don't be fooled into thinking Kurome's strength lies solely in her ability to control corpses with March of the Dead: Yatsufusa. Her swordsmanship is no less formidable.

In the original series, she could go toe-to-toe with Akame. And now, after years of training under Haruki, calling Kurome a swordmaster would be no exaggeration.

"Clang! Clang! Clang..."

In just a few seconds, the two had already exchanged dozens of lightning-fast blows.

"Huff... huff..."

Izou stood his ground, panting heavily. Sweat poured down his forehead in thick beads.

But Kurome? She looked completely unfazed—calm, composed, not even slightly flushed. It was obvious she hadn't been taking the fight seriously. She hadn't even broken a sweat.

After spending so many years with Haruki, the women around him had grown stronger by the day. In the low-power world of "Akame ga Kill," they had long since reached an unmatched level. As a result, they'd developed a habit of toying with their opponents in battle.

"Well, I think it's about time to end the game. Tch... and here I thought this might actually be fun. How disappointing."

Looking at the exhausted Izou, Kurome sighed, sounding almost bored.

Then, without warning, she surged forward.

She'd already seemed fast before—fast enough to blur to the average eye. But now? She became nothing but a flickering afterimage.

In the blink of an eye, she was behind Izou.

"Guh—so fast!"

Years of combat experience had sharpened Izou's instincts. He sensed her behind him—but it was too late. Kurome's Yatsufusa had already pierced through him, the blade driving straight through his chest and out the other side.

...

While Kurome was finishing off Izou, Haruki had his own opponent.

The moment Dorothea saw Izou engage Kurome, she turned and charged at Haruki.

As mentioned earlier, Dorothea was an alchemist who had heavily modified her own body through countless enhancements. Thanks to those modifications, her physical strength was immense. After witnessing Haruki casually crush Syura's hand earlier, she assumed raw power must be his strength as well. And seeing that he was still holding Lina, Dorothea thought she had a decent shot at victory.

But that hope was crushed—literally—the moment she got close.

As Dorothea swung at him, Haruki calmly reached out and grabbed her with one hand, lifting her clean off the ground. No matter how much she thrashed or kicked, it was completely useless.

"An alchemist, huh? Not bad... You'd make a fine asset."

Haruki spoke thoughtfully, holding her by the neck.

Then, with a flick of his wrist, he knocked her unconscious. A wave of his hand followed—and just like that, Dorothea vanished from sight.

...

Now, the Wild Hunt was finished. All that remained was Syura—alone, disarmed, and crippled.
