Ben 10: Rise of New Ultimates

Chapter 2: Episode 2: Time Slip

The abandoned warehouse district reeked of decay and desperation. Rain lashed against the corrugated iron roofs, mirroring the storm brewing inside Ben. He'd been chasing leads all day, following the trail of the stolen energy core. Every clue led to a dead end, every witness vanished without a trace. He slammed his fist against a rusted metal drum, frustration boiling over. "This is going nowhere!" Kevin leaned against a crumbling brick wall, arms crossed, a smirk playing on his lips. "Patience, Tennyson. Rome wasn't built in a day. Although, with your powers, you could probably level it in an afternoon." Ben glared at him. "This isn't a joke, Kevin. Someone is playing with dangerous technology, and we need to stop them before they hurt someone. And I can't just level Rome. I'm a hero, not a supervillain." Kevin chuckled. "Right, because turning into a giant, rampaging monster is totally heroic." Gwen stepped forward, placing a hand on Ben's shoulder. "Kevin, knock it off. Ben's right. This is serious. We need to focus." She closed her eyes, her mana swirling around her like a protective aura. "I sense something here… a residual energy signature. It's faint, but it's definitely here." She pointed towards a darkened doorway. "It's coming from inside that warehouse." Ben activated the Ultimatrix. "Alright, let's go. But be careful. We don't know what we're walking into." He slammed down on the Ultimatrix, transforming into XLR8, his sleek, blue body vibrating with barely contained energy. He sped towards the darkened doorway, leaving Kevin and Gwen in his wake. Inside the warehouse, the air was thick with dust and shadows. Machinery lay scattered across the floor, rusted and broken. The energy signature was stronger here, almost palpable. Ben moved through the warehouse, his super-speed allowing him to scan the area in seconds. He spotted something in the corner – a makeshift laboratory, filled with strange devices and glowing screens. And standing in the middle of it all, a figure cloaked in shadow. The figure turned, revealing a familiar face – Dr. Animo, the mad scientist obsessed with animal mutations. "Well, well, well," Animo cackled, his voice raspy and distorted. "If it isn't Ben Tennyson. Or should I say, XLR8?" Ben narrowed his eyes. "Animo. What are you doing here? And what did you do with the energy core?" Animo smirked. "The energy core? Oh, that's just a little project of mine. A way to… enhance my creations. And perhaps… even control time itself." He gestured towards a large device in the center of the lab, a swirling vortex of energy crackling within its core. Ben realized the danger. Animo wasn't just trying to create stronger mutants. He was messing with time. "You're insane, Animo! You can't control time!" Animo laughed. "Oh, but I can, Tennyson. I almost have! And once I do, I will rewrite history in my image!" He activated the device. The energy vortex intensified, the air shimmering with temporal distortions. Ben felt a strange pull, a sensation of being stretched and compressed. He stumbled, losing his balance. Time was slowing down around him. He had to stop Animo, but he couldn't even move properly. He needed more power, more control over time itself. He slammed the Ultimatrix again. The transformation was even more intense this time, his body contorting and reforming into something… different. Jet-black armor erupted across his body, neon blue lines pulsing with energy. Turbine legs whirred, a blade tail extending from his back. He was Ultimate XLR8, a being of pure speed and temporal energy. He felt the power surging through him, the ability to manipulate time itself. He focused his energy, slowing down time around him even further. Animo was moving in slow motion, his laughter distorted and drawn out. Ben moved with lightning speed, tearing through the lab towards the time device. He had to destroy it, before Animo unleashed its full power. But as he reached the device, Animo activated a failsafe. A surge of temporal energy erupted outwards, throwing Ben back across the warehouse. He slammed into a wall, the impact stunning him. Animo cackled triumphantly. "Foolish Tennyson! You cannot stop me! I am about to unlock the secrets of time itself!" He reached for the control panel, preparing to activate the device. But before he could, something unexpected happened. A figure materialized in the middle of the lab, cloaked in a shimmering field of energy. The figure raised its hand, and time froze. Everything stopped. Animo was frozen in mid-reach, his face contorted in a silent scream. The time device was frozen in mid-activation, the energy vortex suspended in time. Ben stared in disbelief. Who was this person? And what were they doing here? The figure turned towards Ben, its face obscured by the shimmering energy field. It raised its hand again, and a voice echoed through the frozen warehouse. "Ben Tennyson," the voice said, "we need to talk. The fate of the universe depends on it." And then, everything went black. Ben woke up with a jolt. He was lying on the floor of the warehouse, the time device still humming with power. Animo was gone. And so was the mysterious figure. He looked around, confused and disoriented. Had it all been a dream? But then he saw it – a small, metallic object lying on the floor near him. He picked it up. It was a small, intricate device, covered in strange symbols. He had no idea what it was, but he knew one thing. It was a message. And it was meant for him. He looked up, his heart pounding in his chest. The rain had stopped. The clouds had parted. And a single ray of sunlight pierced through the darkness, illuminating his face. He knew his life had changed forever. He had been given a mission. A mission he didn't understand. But a mission he couldn't refuse. He stared at the small metallic device in his hand, his mind racing. What was it? Who had given it to him? And what did it all mean? He had a feeling he was about to find out. He stood up and made his way outside. Kevin and Gwen immediately ran up to him with worried expressions. Ben looked at them and said only 5 words, "We have a lot to do."
