Chapter 38: Chapter 38: The Truth Between Friends

Back in their home country, Malik and Jafar sat in the familiar lounge of their favorite café, the morning sunlight filtering through the large windows, casting long shadows across the wooden floor. Outside, the world bustled with the usual energy of the city, but inside the café, there was a rare quiet as the two friends sipped their coffee, reflecting on the recent turn of events. Their conversation had slowly shifted to a topic that had been weighing on both of their minds for weeks now—Azra and Yuzarsif.

"It's hard to believe how far things have come," Malik said, his tone thoughtful as he looked over at Jafar. "I mean, just think about it—Yuzarsif, the man who's always been so focused, so dedicated to his goals… He's in love now. And with someone like Azra."

Jafar nodded, a soft smile playing at his lips. "Yeah, I've been watching him, and it's like he's a different person now. She really has an effect on him. They're good for each other."

There was a pause in the conversation, both men lost in their own thoughts for a moment. The image of Yuzarsif and Azra together felt surreal, especially given how it all started. What had begun as a seemingly harmless bet between friends had turned into something far more serious. Yuzarsif's feelings for Azra had deepened, and now they were a couple, and both Malik and Jafar had become witnesses to their evolving relationship.

"It's funny," Malik said finally, breaking the silence. "At first, it was all a game, a joke between us. We had no idea that things would progress like this. We didn't think it would turn into something real. We were just… well, messing around."

Jafar's face clouded slightly. "Yeah, it was supposed to be a harmless bet. But now? I don't think either of us could have predicted how deeply Yuzarsif would get involved. It wasn't supposed to be this complicated."

Malik took a slow sip of his coffee, considering Jafar's words. "It's just strange, you know? How did we end up here? With Yuzarsif actually falling in love with her? With Azra now wrapped up in all of this?"

"We didn't think it would go this far. At least I didn't," Jafar replied, his gaze distant. "I thought it would be a quick thing, a bit of fun, and that would be it. But now… now it's real. They've both changed. They're happy, and that's all I can see when I look at them. So why are we even worried about it now?"

Malik's voice dropped a little, more contemplative. "It's just… what do we do now? Do we just pretend the bet never happened? Do we act like it was all fate, that it was meant to be from the start?"

"I don't know," Jafar admitted, his voice quieter now. "Part of me says we should just let it go. Let them have what they have without dragging up the past. They're happy. They love each other. Isn't that what matters?"

Malik leaned back in his chair, staring out the window for a moment, lost in thought. "Yeah, I guess you're right. But every time I think about it, I can't help but feel like we're hiding something from Azra. She doesn't know, and I'm not sure if she'd want to know. But we can't just pretend it wasn't part of the reason they're together. It feels wrong."

"Maybe, but what good would it do to tell her now?" Jafar countered. "What's the point in opening old wounds? Yuzarsif has clearly fallen for her, and she's in love with him. Isn't that enough?"

The two of them sat in silence for a moment, each lost in their own thoughts. The question hung in the air—should they tell Azra the truth? Should they reveal that the foundation of their relationship had started with a bet, a joke between friends? Or should they simply let it go, letting the love between Yuzarsif and Azra speak for itself?

Jafar's voice broke the silence again, softer this time. "I don't know if it's our place to tell her. Yuzarsif would be the one to tell her, if anyone. It's his relationship, his choice."

Malik nodded slowly, his expression contemplative. "I guess you're right. It's his decision. But I can't shake the feeling that we're just… letting this lie linger. It feels like we're just standing by while something that started out as a joke becomes this real, life-changing thing."

"Maybe we're overthinking it," Jafar said, shrugging slightly. "Sometimes things just happen, and we can't control them. We can't go back and change the past. All we can do is support them now, and hope it all works out."

Malik didn't respond right away, his gaze drifting out the window again. The truth of the situation settled uneasily in his chest. They had started this as a harmless bet, but now, looking at how things had developed, he wondered if he could ever fully reconcile the way it had begun with the reality of the love they had now. Yuzarsif and Azra had come to care for each other in ways neither of them had expected, and it had become something far more beautiful than anyone could have predicted. But was it fair to let Azra go on believing that it was all fate, all destiny?

Jafar's voice pulled him from his thoughts. "Look, Malik, at the end of the day, we're friends. We'll support Yuzarsif no matter what. And if the time ever comes for him to tell Azra, then that's on him."

Malik sighed, running a hand through his hair. "I just don't want it to blow up in their faces, you know? I don't want them to be caught in the crossfire of our stupid bet."

"We'll cross that bridge when we get there," Jafar replied with a half-smile. "But for now, I think we just focus on the fact that they're happy. That's what matters."

Malik met Jafar's gaze, his friend's calm demeanor offering a small measure of reassurance. "Yeah. You're right. They deserve to be happy."

But despite the words they had shared, despite Jafar's reassurance, Malik couldn't quite shake the unease in his chest. The truth was that the bet had been a catalyst, a spark that had ignited the relationship. And now, as the relationship grew stronger and deeper, the past lingered in the shadows, threatening to reveal itself when they least expected it.

For now, they would continue to support their friends. They would continue to stand by them. But deep down, Malik knew that one day, they would have to confront the truth—whether they were ready for it or not.
