Chapter 2: Chapter Two
The bodyguards were splashed with alcohol, but they couldn't be careless.
Aurora ran as fast as she could, darting into the hotel kitchen...
"No entry for unauthorized personnel!"
Aurora thought to herself, I don't care! She ran to the back of the kitchen, where there was an exist. The chefs usually smoked and rested there.
After rushing out, there was an alleyway. Running deeper into the alley would only lead to a dead end. So, Aurora ran towards the forest, hoping that the bodyguards would ran towards the main road. However, it wasn't easy.
The pursuers were hot on her heels. Aurora desperately searched for a hiding place.
"Miss Harrison!"
Her heart skipped a bit.
"I can hear you running around Miss Harrison! You can't leave that easily!"
The way the bodyguard's voice cut through the forest was like a shattering crash of cymbals on a silent night. It rang loud and clear, like he was just behind her, but she could tell he isn't.
Aurora stood frozen in place, and as she stood there, her dreams unfolded before her eyes. Every happy ending she had ever envisioned for herself came crashing down as the forest fell silent.
Movement at her sides caught her attention and her eyes met those of a doe. Hiding in the bush, waiting for the predator to make its exists.
Some part of her conscience twists at what she was about to do, but it was either to try or give up entirely. She chose to try.
It happened in a split second, summoning her last ounce of strength, she took off in a sprint.
The doe bolted alongside her and the pursuers' heavy footsteps echoed through the air. She took off in another direction, the branches snagging at her clothes.
A searing pain shot through her hip, threatening to unleash a scream, but she gritted her teeth and kept running. Silently praying, she pushed forward.
The main road was within earshot now, the honking of cars grew louder. She endured a few extra scrapes from the stones on the ground.
A sharp pain pierced the ball of her bare foot, and she hissed as she stumbled.
Remembering her kids at home, Aurora sprang up and took off again, her feet's pounding the earth as she neared to the main road.
Her ears perked up at the sound of footsteps, and panic filled her because they were closer than she thought.
"It's too late!" a voice yelled, and a hand clamped down on her.
Before Aurora could react, another bodyguard appeared, blocking her escape route. With no way out, she was taken back to the hotel's main entrance, where the car awaited..
The car door opened and Maverick stepped out, his long legs carrying him towards her.
"Do you know how dangerous it is to run away from me?" His voice was low and icy.
Aurora turned around, panic setting in. "Why are you..."
Maverick's large hand clamped down on her face, pulling her close to him.
"Ah!" His grip was so tight , it felt like he was crushing her bones. Aurora gritted her teeth in pain.
"I told you to leave!" Maverick's thin lips brushed against her ears, his black eyes gleaming with a sinister light. "Aurora!"
His breath was hot against her skin, his voice like that of a demon, sending shivers down her spine. Aurora's face turned pale.
"Ah!" The car was spacious, but Aurora still hit the floor hard. Maverick got in after her, slamming the door shut.
The car sped away and disappeared into the darkness, as if it was a premeditated kidnapping.
Aurora looked out of the car window in panic and said, "Where are you taking me? Let me out!"
Maverick leaned forward, his imposing presence intimidating. He grabbed her chin and forced her to face him, his voice cold as ice. "Are you giving me orders?"
"No, no," Aurora replied tremblingly.
"You seem to be afraid of me," Maverick said, lifting her chin like a wild beast playing with it's trembling prey.
Aurora didn't dare to say a word. Maverick was like a devilish madman and the oppressive aura he exuded was even stronger than before. She could never forget the harm she suffered during her school days, especially now that she had five children with him.
The unknown fear overwhelmed her body and mind.
"Please, let me go. I will disappear from your sight and never come back. I beg you," Aurora said, tears of fear in her eyes, her slender and beautiful neck tense.
She held her handbag tightly behind her back, trying not to expose it Maverick's eyes for too long. It was as if secrets would be revealed if it was expose for too long.
Maverick's fingers gently cradled her chin, his touch a stark contrast to the ominous feeling that settled over her. It was as if the weight of her mortality hung precariously over her, threatening to snuff out her life at any moment.
"Since you didn't leave back then, you can't leave," Maverick said coldly, pushing her face away harshly.
Aurora's tears were forced out as she choked out, "Please..."
Maverick lazily leaned back in his black seat, staring at the panicked girl with a dark, devilish gaze.
The Black Lamborghini tore through the night like a black panther, arriving at the private mansion in the heart of the city in just twenty minutes.
Aurora remained sorted on the car seat the entire time, anxiously watching as Maverick stepped out of the car with an imposing presence.
"Need me to help you out of the car?" he sneered, his tall figure looming in the darkness.
Aurora looked at the open car door and hesitated, but then reached over and unlocked the door at the other side, avoiding the need to climb over the other side.
It was the shortest distance for her to exist the car without having to crawl over.
She grabbed her handbag and quickly shut the car door, immediately turning off her phone to avoid any calls from her friend or the children. She was afraid Maverick would find out!
But before she could turn off her phone, she had to unlock the screen. Her hands trembled as she entered the six-digit password, but she made a mistake due to her haste and anxiety. She had to delete and re-enter the password...
Maverick walked around the car, his dark eyes like a hawk, and saw Aurora frozen in place, looking panicked.
"What are you waiting for?" he asked.
