Born to Be a Secretary

chapter 77

“Ah… you’re scary after all. If you don’t want to, there’s nothing I can do. Then I guess I’ll try to gently seduce the resident of Room 801.”
Han Jinseo grabbed the armrest of his chair and suddenly stood up. Without glancing at Kwon Youngjae, he took a step forward.
“Director! Let’s quickly shoot the next scene!”

Kwon watched the man weaving through the staff, then stood up. Seeing his stiff expression, the marketing team members cautiously approached.
He handed off his nearly full cup of coffee and tidied his disheveled appearance. Pulling at his sleeve, Kwon spoke calmly.
“Is this the shot you want?”

“…We’ll edit it as best as we can.”
“Executive Director Park.”
“Yes, Executive Director.”

From the corner, Park, who had been staying cautious, immediately responded to the call and showed his face.
“You must have carefully checked the risks before casting actor Han Jinseo.”
“…That’s right.”

“If anything unfortunate happens, Executive Director Park will be held responsible.”
Park’s face turned [N O V E L I G H T] pale as his eyes darted around. He glared at the marketing team leader beside him. He clearly hadn’t expected Han Jinseo to be such an immoral person.
“We’ll talk again at the company.”

Kwon finished with that and turned away. His pace was so fast that the staff barely had time to greet him. They bowed deeply to his retreating back.
An uncomfortable silence continued all the way to the parking lot. Heewon hurried to keep up with Kwon’s fast pace. Only after opening the rear door did he finally catch his breath.
No sooner had he climbed into the driver’s seat than orders came from behind.

“Move immediately.”
“…Yes?”
“You live next to Han Jinseo, right? Don’t cause any trouble. If you have nowhere to go, book a hotel. I’ll look for a place for you to live.”
Heewon could only grasp the steering wheel without replying. From what he observed earlier, Han Jinseo had been scratching at Kwon. Judging by Kwon’s reaction, whatever was said wasn’t good.

When Heewon glanced back, he saw Kwon’s sharp gaze bristling like thorns. Trapped in the enclosed car, he finally sensed the unfamiliar Alpha pheromones heavily clinging to Kwon’s body.
“What did Han Jinseo say?”
At Heewon’s question, Kwon grimaced deeply, refusing to discuss it. Heewon bit his lip and studied him for a long moment.

Was he stressed because of the pheromones? Or had he heard something unpleasant? Maybe both.
After some thought, Heewon unbuckled his seatbelt and got out of the car. Moving to the back seat, he was met with a fierce glare.
As a secretary, the only way to calm Kwon’s mood was to shut up and stay still. But Heewon had another method now. Whether it would work or not, he could only try acting crazy.

“Secretary Kim.”
Heewon pressed a quick kiss onto Kwon’s lips as a harsh voice escaped. Smooch.
After the kiss, he spoke with a solemn expression.

“That guy’s crazy by nature. Weird personality, talks nonsense… so it’s best not to engage.”
Kwon burst out laughing in disbelief. But it was brief. Soon, he wiped the smile away and returned to a cold expression.
“You seem to know Han Jinseo well?”

Smack went the sound as Heewon kissed Kwon’s cheek. Rather than calming his anger, the wrinkles deepened between Kwon’s brows.
“What are you doing now?”
“…Should I stop?”

Suddenly, a large hand reached out and grabbed Heewon’s nape. Dragged close, their lips met in an instant.
It was a kiss like an outlet for frustration. The fierce suction made Heewon briefly furrow his brow, but he soon relaxed his stiff body and cupped Kwon’s cheek.
He gave his tongue fully as Kwon wanted. The sticky contact filled the car with the sweet scent of osmanthus, calming Kwon’s tense nerves.

After a long moment, Kwon lifted his face. Though he released the tongue, their noses still touched; the warm breath he exhaled wet Heewon’s philtrum. Kwon muttered lowly.
“So what’s the answer?”
“What do you mean?”

“I asked if you’re going to keep living in that house.”
He seemed calmer, but his gaze was still sharp. Unable to avoid the eyes flying at him, Heewon fixed his gaze on Kwon’s long eyelashes.
“Why should I move? I haven’t done anything wrong… And how good it is to live there—”

Before he finished, Kwon bit Heewon’s lower lip hard. The pain spread like fire, and a soft moan escaped. Heewon gripped the collar of his jacket tightly. The expensive suit was ruthlessly crushed in his hand.
Though he bit hard enough to draw tears, Kwon gently rubbed the lip mucosa with his tongue like a beast soothing a wound. Swallowing a shaky breath, he whispered a warning.
“If that bastard says nonsense, report it immediately.”

“And what will you do?”
“Make sure he’s ruined. So he can never show his face again.”
If anyone could do it, it was Kwon. Heewon smiled and hugged his shoulder. It wasn’t fitting for a secretary, but it was a sign of appreciation for his hard work today as he patted his broad back.

“I’ll report it. Whose order was it anyway?”
His chest, which had been pounding fiercely, gradually calmed. Though the excitement and anger faded, Kwon didn’t release his arms from around Heewon’s waist.
In a posture no one should see, Heewon shared body heat and pheromones with him, thinking that ever since they started mixing bodies, managing Kwon had become much easier.

Maybe it was because his own attitude toward him had changed.
After safely escorting Executive Director Kwon home, they moved directly to the next location. The official schedule was over, but his day was far from done.
The secretary office staff were having a long-overdue company dinner. It was the quarterly regular dinner, a reminder that the season had changed once again.

They had already moved to a bar. Opening the door of a wine bar, they saw heavily intoxicated faces. It was Friday, so they had clearly been drinking seriously.
“Ah, Director!”
Secretary Ji spotted Heewon and raised an arm. Everyone was thrilled to see Director Kim, whom they thought wouldn’t come.

Heewon slowly walked over and pulled out an empty chair. After scanning the flushed faces, he smiled faintly.
“Ordering the expensive stuff, right?”
“Of course! We ordered the most expensive one!”

Enjoying luxuries on Executive Director Kwon’s card was the greatest joy and comfort of company life. There was no limit on dinner expenses, so they could spend freely.
“Secretary Song is completely wasted?”
“She drank the most, though she’s usually weak. She really went all out today.”

“Wow.”
Seeing Secretary Song sleeping face-down on the table, Heewon sighed briefly. He suspected the reason she drank so much was somehow related to earlier events. Feeling sorry, he watched her for a while.
“Director, want a drink?”

“No, I have to drive.”
Heewon declined the expensive wine and ordered a carbonated drink suitable for moderation. Sitting with the secretaries, he chatted. The conversations were typical — work difficulties and such. Luckily, everyone said they wished every day could be as comfortable as these.
After about an hour, the bottles ran dry and it was time to wrap up. Secretary Ji and the newcomer wanted to move to another place to drink more, while Secretary Lee said she would go home to look after Secretary Song.

Heewon got up, dressed, and said,
“I’ll drive you. I’ll take you home.”
“You can take a taxi.”

“You’re drunk. How could I let you take a taxi alone?”
Supporting Secretary Song, he got her into the car. Since they were coming back after dropping off Executive Director Kwon, Heewon’s car was a large sedan.
Secretary Lee sank deep into the leather seat. She let out a faint sigh, clearly enjoying the superb ride.

“Wow, this must be what success feels like.”
Hearing that, Heewon let out a light laugh.
“Yeah, give me water…” Just then, Secretary Song stirred and slouched. Heewon fixed his gaze ahead and opened the console box. He pulled out the bottled water he always carried and passed it back.

“…Is that Director?”
Secretary Song murmured slowly as she drank. Her blinking eyes stared at Heewon’s round back of the head. Beside her, Secretary Lee’s eyes flashed like a watchful guard.
“Secretary Song, it’s fine to get a shot but don’t throw up here, okay? This is Executive Director Kwon’s car.”

“……”
“Don’t spill the water either. Drink with your chin supported.”
Her strictness was like a drill instructor’s. Heewon glanced in the rearview mirror, carefully monitoring Secretary Song’s state. Judging by her dim eyes, she looked likely to fall asleep again soon.

At that moment, the phone rang loudly. At this late hour, only one person would call him. As expected, it was Kwon Youngjae.
What now?
After a moment’s hesitation, knowing there was no option not to answer, Heewon lightly swiped the bottom of the phone screen.

“Secretary Kim.”
Switching to speakerphone mode, Kwon’s low voice filled the car. From behind came the sound of held breath.
