"Reward?"

Hearing Elder Su's words, Mo Yu was taken aback and immediately turned to look at the elder with white hair.

"As the victor in the challenge against an Inner Academy Strong List student, Mo Yu, you are awarded a hundred days of fire energy, plus an additional 'Red Fire Crystal Card' as a bonus."

"Red Fire Crystal Card?"

As Elder Su's words echoed, a ripple of excitement spread among the audience. Numerous envious gazes fell upon Mo Yu.

In the Inner Academy, fire crystal cards are ranked from low to high by color: black, blue, green, red, and purple. The lowest level, the black crystal card, only grants students access to the first and second floors of the Blazing Sky Qi Refining Tower. Blue cards allow access to the third and fourth floors, and so on.

To upgrade a crystal card in the Inner Academy, students must exchange fire energy. Upgrading a black card to a blue one costs one hundred days of fire energy, while blue to green requires two hundred days, and green to red costs three hundred days.

By winning the red fire crystal card, Mo Yu effectively saved six hundred days of fire energy—an enormous fortune within the Inner Academy.

After Elder Su finished speaking, he waved his hand, and a red crystal card appeared. With a flick of his finger, the card shot toward Mo Yu, hovering in front of him.

"The reward is loaded in the card. Also, since Bai Cheng lost the challenge, according to the rules, I've deducted half of his fire energy from his red crystal card—about six hundred days—and added it to your card. With the academy's reward, you now have seven hundred days of fire energy on that card."

Mo Yu raised an eyebrow at this, then glanced toward the direction of the White Gang.

He saw Bai Cheng, now awake, clutching his red fire crystal card with a pained expression. Noticing Mo Yu's gaze, Bai Cheng looked back, his eyes flashing with resentment and malice.

In response, Mo Yu sneered dismissively. Just a defeated opponent.

"Mo Yu, remember that receiving Bai Cheng's six hundred days of fire energy is part of the academy's rules. Bai Cheng can't go back on it now, having lost the challenge."

"But as for taking over the White Gang, the academy won't intervene. Whether you can control them depends on your own abilities." Elder Su advised, sounding somewhat doubtful about the endeavor.

After all, White Gang was founded by Bai Cheng and held significant influence. Managing a faction differs from personal cultivation; otherwise, the top ten Strong List students would each form their own factions in the Inner Academy.

Mo Yu, a newcomer who had only recently defeated Bai Cheng, might not be able to secure a position, even if Bai Cheng hands over the title as per the bet.

Receiving the red crystal card, Mo Yu nodded. "Thank you, Elder Su, for the advice. I have my own considerations and won't act recklessly."

Elder Su nodded, satisfied. "Good. Now that you're an Inner Academy student, familiarize yourself with everything on your own. I'll leave you to reunite with your clan members."

"Thank you, Elder Su."

Watching Elder Su and Hu Qian leave, Xiao Yu and the others gathered around again.

"Cousin Mo Yu, seven hundred days of fire energy—you're rich now!" Xun'er, who managed the Pan's Gate faction, smiled sweetly at Mo Yu, well aware of the importance of fire energy in the Inner Academy.

"Haha, with Cousin Xiao Yan's skills as an alchemist, I doubt you're short of fire energy," Mo Yu chuckled, rubbing his chin.

Xiao Yan and Xun'er exchanged a glance and shook their heads, amused. They had indeed considered alchemy to earn fire energy, but they didn't expect Mo Yu to see right through them. Cousin Mo Yu truly has sharp eyes.

"Cousin Mo Yu, come stay with us at Pan's Gate. Cousin Xiao Yu is a member of the Moon Spirit, which is all-female, so it may not be convenient for you there," Xun'er suggested.

Mo Yu glanced at Xiao Yu, who looked a bit embarrassed, and nodded in agreement.

It didn't matter to him where he stayed temporarily. After some time, he'd replace Bai Cheng as the leader of White Gang, establishing his own foundation in the Inner Academy.

With that thought, he glanced at where Bai Cheng had been standing, but the area was now empty—Bai Cheng had already left with White Gang.

Seeing this, Mo Yu sneered. He already had a plan to take over White Gang, so there was no need to rush.

After chatting a bit longer, Mo Yu parted ways with Xiao Yu and followed Xiao Yan to a flight of stone steps.

The stone steps were not particularly high; after only a minute or two, Mo Yu and the others reached the top. They stood on a hillside, breathing in the slightly cold air as they took in the view.

"So, this is the Inner Academy?" Mo Yu murmured as he surveyed the scene below.

Beyond the hillside lay a massive sunken basin, as if a giant meteor had struck, creating this vast depression.

Inside the basin, towering buildings rose from the ground. From their vantage point, they could see figures darting and leaping around like black fleas.

The basin seemed endlessly expansive. Even as they looked to its farthest reaches, they could see only buildings and lush greenery.

"Cousin Mo Yu, welcome to the core of Jia Nan Academy—the Inner Academy!" Xiao Yan said with a grin.

The creaking of a wooden door broke the silence as a sliver of sunlight peeked through the gap, forming a narrow beam of light on the floor.

As the door opened further, the light expanded, and several shadows of varying lengths entered. Xiao Yan glanced around the spacious building with a smile.

"Cousin Mo Yu, this is where Xun'er, Hu Jia, Wu Hao, and I live. There are five rooms here, and since Bai Shan—Bai Cheng's younger brother—left, there's now an empty room that you can stay in."

"Thank you, Cousin Xiao Yan." Mo Yu was somewhat familiar with Hu Jia and Wu Hao, knowing they were among the outstanding freshmen in the Inner Academy.

Mo Yu inspected the room, nodding in satisfaction. When he noticed some paper and a pen on the table, he picked them up and wrote a few lines.

Curious, Xiao Yan and Xun'er came over to see.

"Cousin Xiao Yan, I heard you've become the leader of a faction. I wonder if I might ask for a favor?" Mo Yu asked with a smile.

Xiao Yan scratched his head, laughing. "You're too kind, Cousin Mo Yu. The freshmen chose me as leader to help avoid being bullied; it's no big deal."

"But if you need help, Pan's Gate will assist to the best of our abilities."

Mo Yu smiled and handed the paper to Xiao Yan. "It's nothing major. Since I'm new here, I'm not familiar with things, so I'd like your people to help me gather some refining materials from this list."

Taking the paper, Xiao Yan and Xun'er looked it over. Xun'er smiled and said, "In the East District of the Inner Academy, there's a marketplace that sells all sorts of rare items, including the refining materials on your list."

"With everyone from Pan's Gate helping, we should be able to gather everything within a day."

Neither of them found it strange that Mo Yu needed these materials, knowing he was a skilled refiner back in the clan.

"Thank you, and I'll reimburse the fire energy needed for these purchases."

Xiao Yan shook his head. "That won't be necessary. Thanks to you, Pan's Gate has already won quite a bit of fire energy."

"Oh?"

Seeing Mo Yu's curious expression, Xun'er smiled as she explained the betting incident in the square.

"Haha, I didn't expect that." Mo Yu laughed and waved his hand dismissively.

After a bit more conversation, they all headed to their rooms.

Once inside his new quarters, Mo Yu tidied up the room a bit, and after a tiring day, he gradually drifted into sleep as night settled.

Early the next morning, at the Inner Academy's Blazing Sky Qi Refining Tower—

As one of the most crucial facilities in Jia Nan Academy, the Blazing Sky Qi Refining Tower was always bustling with activity. Therefore, Mo Yu arrived at the tower early, eager to see it firsthand. He was curious about the tower but, more importantly, wanted to confirm a theory he had in mind.

After ten minutes of walking, a vast, sunken structure came into view. Situated within the depression was an enormous black tower, partially buried underground with only its tip and an ominous, dark entrance visible above ground.

"So this is the Blazing Sky Qi Refining Tower…" Mo Yu murmured, glancing at the dense crowd of people gathered outside and the black tower constructed with special materials, partly concealed beneath the earth.

Mo Yu was already familiar with the tower's history. According to his memory of the original story, the tower was created by Mang Tianchi, the head of Jia Nan Academy, with the purpose of suppressing and sealing the Fallen Heart Flame below it. The Fallen Heart Flame was known for its ability to refine Dou Qi, acting as a valuable training tool. Taking advantage of this, Jia Nan Academy used the flame to aid their Inner Academy students in their cultivation.

The fire energy required to enter the Blazing Sky Qi Refining Tower served as the currency for entry.

Furthermore, Mo Yu was aware of another secret buried beneath the magma world where the Fallen Heart Flame resided: the Dou Di's cave mansion…

Shaking his head, Mo Yu dismissed such thoughts for now. With his current strength, it was too early to think about such things.

While he pondered, a resonant chime suddenly echoed throughout the area, and with it, the lively chatter came to an abrupt halt.

"Open the tower!"

As the chime faded, a hoarse voice seemed to drift out from within the tower.

Following the elder's command, the tightly sealed black doors slowly creaked open, releasing a faint, scorching heat that subtly increased the temperature in the area.

"Enter the tower!"

The elderly voice sounded again, and those seated cross-legged on the ground opened their eyes, leaping up all at once. The sound of rushing wind filled the air as figures shot toward the tower entrance in a blur.

Seeing this, Mo Yu didn't hesitate. He swiftly walked into the clearing, striding toward the mysterious, subterranean black tower.

After a minute, Mo Yu stepped into the tower, and the light around him suddenly dimmed. In that moment, he felt his feet meet the solid stone floor beneath him.

As soon as he set foot inside, his body froze. A faint blush crept across his handsome face as tendrils of heat wafted from his skin. He felt a strange, sudden surge of flame energy within him, and he raised an eyebrow—this mysterious fire was unusual and defied reason. He quickly realized this was none other than the clone of the Fallen Heart Flame.

With the appearance of this invisible flame, a fierce heat radiated from it, causing Mo Yu to feel stinging sensations in his meridians, bones, and muscles.

"This must be the clone of the Fallen Heart Flame. I wonder if my theory will hold true…" he murmured, his silver eyes sharpening.

Enduring the sharp pain, Mo Yu gently loosened the seal of the Divine Qi Seal within him. Wisps of dark thunder energy surged forth, moving under his control through several meridians until they reached the spot where the invisible flame coiled.

"Go through it," he commanded inwardly.

The dark thunder energy burst forth, and under his watchful gaze, it surged into the invisible flame.

The area of the flame was minute, so it took less than a second for the thunder energy to pass through to the other side.

Maintaining careful control, Mo Yu observed with delight as the previously thick strands of thunder energy had been condensed and purified into refined Dou Qi after passing through the invisible flame.

Looking at the sea-urchin-like Dou Crystal within his body, Mo Yu noticed that as these purified wisps of thunder energy poured in, his fist-sized Dou Crystal appeared to expand slightly.

"The Fallen Heart Flame really is effective. Not only can it refine a cultivator's Dou Qi, but it also purifies and absorbs external energies. If the first layer is this potent, then wouldn't the final layer be even more…"

At that thought, Mo Yu's face lit up with excitement, and his heartbeat quickened.

This Blazing Sky Qi Refining Tower seemed tailor-made for him. If he could use it to absorb the vast energy sealed within him, he could ascend to an unimaginable realm!
