At the entrance to the training room, a young girl in a white dress suddenly appeared. She leaned against the wall, arms crossed, glancing sideways at everyone gathered in the resting area. Though her appearance seemed harmless, the hidden ferocity in her eyes made anyone who met her gaze feel a chill down their spine.
"It's Senior Sister Zi Yan."
Seeing the girl in white, many top talents on the sixth floor turned pale, as if they were mice facing a tiger, with a deep-rooted fear surfacing in their hearts. Zi Yan gave them a casual glance before taking small steps into the room, prompting the crowd around her to retreat instinctively, fearing they might provoke this 'monster' in some way.
At this moment, Han Yue also stepped out, standing beside Mo Yu. When she saw that Zi Yan was heading straight for them, she felt a bit uneasy. Even she couldn't shake her fear of this Academy's terrifying 'Brute Force Queen.'
"Hey, what's your name?"
Zi Yan stopped beside Mo Yu, circling him twice with her bright, inquisitive eyes, sizing him up from head to toe. She then asked in her childish voice.
As Zi Yan drew closer, Mo Yu took the opportunity to study her too. The girl looked around twelve or thirteen, with long, light-purple hair cascading down to her waist. Her face was pale and delicate, as if carved from jade, and her dark, lively eyes blinked at Mo Yu with a magnetic charm.
"So, this is the young Ancient Void Dragon," Mo Yu thought to himself, instantly recognizing her. After all, she was no ordinary figure—this was the daughter of the Dragon Emperor Zhu Kun, and her bloodline was nothing short of legendary on the Dou Qi Continent.
"Hello, little sister. My name is Mo Yu, and I'm a new student here in the Inner Academy."
"New student… Mo Yu… Are you my kin?" Zi Yan's dark gaze fixed on Mo Yu, her voice filled with a hint of urgency.
"Uh…" Mo Yu was taken aback by her question; he hadn't expected Zi Yan to ask that. He knew a bit about her origins. According to the records, when the Dragon Emperor Zhu Kun was trapped in the Dou Di's cavern, Zi Yan was still an unhatched dragon egg, only breaking out of her shell after years passed. Too young to survive on her own, she had accidentally consumed a rare herb, Transforming Herb, which granted her a human appearance but greatly suppressed her strength.
One day, Su Qian, the Great Elder of the Jia Nan Academy, had stumbled upon her in her human form and, feeling sympathetic, took her in and brought her to the Inner Academy. Though young, Zi Yan's Ancient Void Dragon form made her one of the strongest in the Inner Academy, even earning her the nickname "Brute Force Queen" among the students.
Mo Yu, however, understood that Zi Yan was actually a lonely soul yearning for kinship. Since breaking out of her shell, she had wandered the deep mountains without knowing what kind of magical beast she was, narrowly escaping becoming food for other beasts. Upon reaching the Inner Academy, she had been obsessively consuming rare treasures to grow stronger, all in the hope of discovering her heritage and finding her family.
But Mo Yu hadn't expected her to suspect he might be one of her kin—could it be because of Zi Huo he cultivated? As a descendant of the Abyssal Lion Clan, his energy might share some faint resonance with the Ancient Void Dragon's, giving Zi Yan a reason to be curious.
Smiling faintly, Mo Yu shook his head and said, "You've misunderstood, little sister. I'm not your kin."
"Not…?" Her head drooped as she bit her lip, her large eyes misting up as she spoke in a voice only Mo Yu could hear, "Ever since I was aware, I've never met anyone from my family. Today, I sensed a familiar presence in you, and I thought…"
Seeing Zi Yan's forlorn expression, Mo Yu's heart softened. Gently patting her soft purple hair, he said, "I may not be your kin, but I might still be able to help you find them."
"Really?" Zi Yan's face lit up with surprise as she looked at him intently.
Mo Yu nodded, smiling. "Since my energy feels familiar to you, maybe I've encountered your kin somewhere."
In her simple and innocent mind, Zi Yan's eyes sparkled at Mo Yu's words. She eagerly nodded, saying, "I trust you, big brother Mo Yu."
With a smile, Mo Yu asked, "Little sister, I don't even know your name yet."
"My name's Zi Yan. The Great Elder gave it to me, but the students here call me the 'Brute Force Queen'—hmph! They think I don't know." She scrunched her nose and waved a small fist in the air, a sharp sound piercing the room, scaring the surrounding students a few steps back.
Mo Yu flinched slightly at her display of strength, staring at her. "Little brat, are you trying to kill me?"
Though she was still in her childhood phase, a single punch from a Ancient Void Dragon wasn't something to scoff at; even Mo Yu wouldn't be able to withstand it. Covering her mouth, Zi Yan stuck out her tongue, bowing to Mo Yu apologetically, as he was her only hope of finding her family.
"Oh, Mo Yu, were you planning to use the training room?" Zi Yan asked, noticing his slight irritation.
"Yes."
"Then you should use mine! It's number one, way faster than the other rooms," Zi Yan offered in a sweet tone, attempting to please him.
The surrounding students gaped in astonishment, eyes filled with envy and awe as they looked at Mo Yu. Even Han Yue was shocked, watching Zi Yan, who everyone feared, call him "big brother" so affectionately.
Scratching his chin, Mo Yu smiled. "Well, if that's the case, I'll take advantage of your generosity and try out the number one training room."
A broad grin spread across Zi Yan's face. "Just don't forget your promise, Mo Yu!"
"Of course, I won't." Mo Yu gave her a reassuring smile. If it weren't for the inconvenient timing, he could have told her about her origins immediately. But helping her locate her family would require at least Dou Zun-level strength.
"Thank you, Mo Yu!" Zi Yan's face brightened, the weight on her heart easing as she beamed at him with innocent delight. "Alright, big brother Mo Yu, you go on. I'm a bit hungry, so I'll go grab something to eat." She slipped out the door as she spoke.
Watching her leave, Mo Yu shook his head with a faint smile. No doubt, this little girl was off to raid the academy's treasures again.
The Ancient Void Dragon clan had an innate mastery over spatial energy, allowing them to move freely through space. Zi Yan, in particular, had a natural ability to sense spiritual treasures, making her quite the menace to the academy's prized collections.
Still, Mo Yu couldn't help but wonder—could there really be some mysterious connection between the Ancient Void Dragon Clan and the Abyssal Lion Clan? He pondered this for a moment before deciding to put it aside; it wasn't something he needed to worry about now.
As Mo Yu reflected, the students on the sixth floor were casting him complex looks. With the Brute Force Queen on his side, he practically had free reign in the Inner Academy.
Even though they didn't know Mo Yu well, those around him instinctively classified him as someone not to be provoked.
Noticing the many gazes directed his way, Mo Yu's brows furrowed slightly, feeling a bit uncomfortable. He quickly bid farewell to Han Yue and left the Blazing Sky Qi Refining Tower.
He returned directly to his small loft, only to find Xiao Yan and Xun'er already waiting for him.
"Cousin Mo Yu, you're back. How was the experience training in the Blazing Sky Qi Refining Tower? We've also finished gathering the refining materials you need," Xiao Yan said with a smile as he noticed Mo Yu's aura, which seemed more powerful than just a day prior. Smiling, he retrieved a light red storage ring from his pocket and handed it over.
Taking the ring from Xiao Yan's hand, Mo Yu expressed his thanks with a smile. Scanning it with his spiritual sense, he found it filled to the brim with refining materials, causing his lips to curl up slightly.
After chatting briefly with Xiao Yan and Xun'er, Mo Yu went to his room, took out the red storage ring, and began preparing in secret to take control of the White Gang.
In a brightly lit room, the atmosphere was tense, like a powder keg ready to explode. A dozen individuals were scattered about, some seated and some standing, all with expressions of anger.
"Boss, that Mo Yu is way too arrogant, actually thinking he can take your place! Don't worry, we'd never agree to that!" a man suddenly slammed his hand on the table, shouting angrily.
"Yeah, boss, you built White Gang from scratch. We only recognize you!" As soon as he spoke, the others joined in, all voicing their support.
At the head of the room sat a man leaning back in his chair with a gloomy face—Bai Cheng himself.
Bai Cheng ignored the agitated crowd and focused on a figure to his left. The man's face was mostly wrapped in bandages, but from the exposed part, his identity was clear: Fu Ao, the one Mo Yu had severely injured in the tournament.
"Fu Ao, did you manage to find out Mo Yu's whereabouts today?"
The room immediately quieted as all eyes turned to Fu Ao.
"Yes, I heard that Mo Yu spent the entire day training in the Blazing Sky Qi Refining Tower, and he was in Room 34 on the sixth floor."
Bai Cheng's expression twitched upon hearing this, feeling a surge of anger at the thought of Mo Yu taking over his training room. But along with his anger, a hint of astonishment appeared—after all, the fire poison within the Blazing Sky Qi Refining Tower wasn't something just anyone could endure. For a newcomer like Mo Yu to dare venture into the sixth floor on his first visit, could he really be that extraordinary?
Hearing this, the other members of White Gang were equally astonished, raising their level of caution toward Mo Yu.
"That's not all—I also found out something else about Mo Yu," Fu Ao added cautiously as everyone was absorbed in their thoughts.
"Oh? What else?" Bai Cheng's brows knit in curiosity.
Fu Ao rubbed his still-aching shoulder, his tone serious. "According to students on the sixth floor, Mo Yu seems to have an unusual relationship with the 'Brute Force Queen,' Zi Yan…"
Crash!
Bai Cheng's teacup shattered on the ground. Ignoring the hot tea scalding his hand, he immediately asked, "Is this true?"
"Yes, quite a few people on the sixth floor saw it firsthand."
Bai Cheng's face darkened upon hearing this. Zi Yan, the so-called 'Brute Force Queen,' was the top-ranked student on the Strong List—not only powerful but also notoriously eccentric. In the Inner Academy, there wasn't a single person unafraid of her.
If Mo Yu had Zi Yan as his supporter, then forget about taking over White Gang—he could practically do as he pleased in the entire Inner Academy.
The other White Gang members also realized this and, previously filled with righteous fury, now looked deflated.
Zi Yan's frightening reputation was well-known, built upon the painful lessons of countless students in the Inner Academy.
As everyone fell silent, a young man who looked somewhat similar to Bai Cheng suddenly spoke, "Cousin, I have an idea to solve this problem."
Everyone's attention shifted to him, and Bai Cheng turned to the other side of the room, where Bai Shan sat with a cold expression.
"Bai Shan, what do you have in mind?"
Bai Shan met Bai Cheng's gaze and smiled. "Cousin, with the 'Brute Force Queen' supporting Mo Yu, we can't confront him directly. Instead, let's use a 'retreat to advance, shedding the cicada's shell' strategy."
"Oh? What's this retreat-to-advance, shedding-the-cicada strategy?"
Bai Shan chuckled coldly. "Mo Yu wants the position of White Gang's leader, right? Then cousin, why not simply give it to him?"
Seeing Bai Cheng's displeased expression, Bai Shan quickly explained, "Handing over the title of leader to Mo Yu will allow you to arrange for White Gang's members to withdraw one by one and then form a new faction."
"This way, no one can accuse you of going back on your word, and all Mo Yu would gain is an empty title. Even if the 'Brute Force Queen' makes a fuss, the academy elders won't let her break Inner Academy rules."
As Bai Shan laid out his plan, Bai Cheng's eyes lit up, and a cold smile appeared on his lips.
"In that case, I'll wait for Mo Yu to come. Hmph, he wants White Gang? I'll make him a leader with no one to lead!"
