Chapter 12: Snippet-1: Naruto Fugaku SI FanFic:- Chapter 5
5. A One-to-One Talk.
│1st Person POV of Uchiha Fugaku│
[The Land of Fire, Village Hidden in the Leaf (Konohagakure), Uchiha Clan Compound...]
"Fugaku, I've heard that you're planning to adopt Kakashi," the Hokage began, his tone neutral but inquisitive.
As expected, Kakashi must have informed him about the matter. I could only hope he hadn't mentioned anything regarding his Mangekyou Sharingan. Taking a moment to gather my thoughts, I replied evenly, "Yes, that's correct. Kakashi is in a fragile state right now. Losing everyone important to him, one after another, has left him deeply scarred. He's teetering on the edge."
I paused, choosing my next words carefully, "Someone needs to step in before he makes a decision he can't come back from. Minato treated Kakashi like his own son, and as Minato's best friend, I feel it's my responsibility to look after him in his absence."
The Hokage listened intently as I continued, "The same applies to Naruto as well. That's why, if you ever need any help in taking care of Naruto, please don't hesitate to summon me. I will gladly assist in any way I can."
Leaning forward slightly, I added with a sharper tone, "That said, there's something I must stress, Hokage-sama. Please ensure that Danzo keeps his distance from both Kakashi and Naruto. I can hardly imagine the lengths he's willing to go for his so-called 'good of the village.' If he attempts to put his claws on either of them, I cannot guarantee I'll be able to restrain myself from taking decisive action to protect them."
The Hokage's expression turned grave as he absorbed my words. For a few moments, he didn't say anything and looked at me with a steely gaze, as if testing my resolve. Only when he saw that I wasn't backing down did he give a slight nod and said, "I will keep your concerns in mind, Fugaku.
"And I hope you won't put any pressure on Kakashi to adopt him."
"I have no such intentions, Hokage-sama. My only aim is to protect the boy and ensure that his Sharingan remains out of the hands of outsiders," I replied earnestly, allowing a fleeting moment of regret to cross my expression, as though I blurted out something that I didn't mean to.
As anticipated, the Hokage noticed the subtle shift in my expression and likely 'deduced' the 'underlying motive' behind my interest in adopting Kakashi.
Changing the subject, Hiruzen pressed on, "Now, Fugaku, what are your thoughts regarding the assailant? Is there anything you can share that might help the village strengthen its defenses against him or her?"
"Well, there are no documented accounts of the specific abilities of the Mangekyou Sharingan in the Uchiha Clan's records," I began, my tone measured. "The last known individuals to awaken the Mangekyou Sharingan were Uchiha Madara and his brother, Izuna, but neither left behind any details about the powers they possessed."
I paused briefly, allowing my words to settle before continuing, "However, considering the events that transpired, it's evident that the assailant demonstrated capabilities far beyond the ordinary.
"The fact that they managed to eliminate ANBU operatives and midwives, all while Minato was present, strongly suggests that this individual is either extraordinarily skilled in stealth or has mastered a formidable Space-Time Ninjutsu.
"Without such a disruptive and advanced technique, it would be nearly impossible for anyone to abduct Kushina and forcibly extract the Kyuubi while Minato, one of the most powerful shinobi of his time, was there to protect her."
Hiruzen nodded thoughtfully, his gaze distant as he processed my words. After a moment, he spoke, his tone heavy with concern, "It seems we've reached similar conclusions, then. But what troubles me most is why the assailant hasn't struck again. Nearly a full day has passed since the Kyuubi Attack. With the village in its current state this would be the ideal time for an enemy to capitalize on our vulnerability."
I frowned, pretending to consider his point carefully for a moment before responding, "I can't quite make sense of this either, Hokage-sama.
"It's possible that Minato inflicted significant damage during their confrontation, leaving the enemy in a state of recovery. If that's the case, their hesitation might stem from needing time to recuperate.
"However, if they do decide to strike again, I believe their targets will likely be one of two things—the Kyuubi Jinchūriki or the Uchiha Clan."
I paused to let the weight of my words sink in before continuing, "Even though the Uchiha Clan emerged from the attack with minimal casualties, we cannot ignore the fact that the Kyuubi was summoned just outside the walls of our compound. That fact alone puts us under a spotlight."
"In addition, if the enemy does possess a Space-Time Ninjutsu, we must prepare accordingly, Hokage-sama. Such techniques are difficult to counter unless one has mastery over another Space-Time Ninjutsu.
"I strongly recommend training Kakashi or another promising shinobi in Hiraishin Jutsu (Flying Thunder God Technique). With proper mastery of the Hiraishin, we could significantly improve our ability to neutralize this kind of threat should it resurface."
Hiruzen put on a grave expression as he took a few seconds to mull over my suggestion before responding, "I will give this matter serious consideration, Fugaku. The safety of the village, its clans, and its people will always remain my highest priority."
I nodded, outwardly acknowledging his words as sincere, though I was fully aware that Hiruzen's greatest shortcoming was his inability to make firm decisions when decisive action was most critical.
"Lastly, Fugaku, I wanted to ask, won't you consider taking the Hat? You are one of the strongest Shinobi of the village and given time, I think you can grow even stronger."
Hearing this absurdity, I almost wanted to burst into laughter, but I managed to restrain myself. Keeping my expression serious, I responded gravely, "Hokage-sama, please don't test me with words you don't truly mean.
"I am fully aware that I lack the strength and qualifications to hold the title of Hokage. Beyond that, my loyalty lies first and foremost with my family and then my clan, even above the village as a whole. I cannot deny that, if given such power, I might be tempted to use it to secure greater benefits for my clan and loved ones.
"Furthermore, it's already hard for me to balance my duties as the Captain of the Police Force and my responsibilities as Clan Head. Taking on the mantle of Hokage would only add an unbearable weight to my shoulders—one I have no desire to carry."
"Hmm, you've given me much to consider, Fugaku. You may leave now," the Hokage said thoughtfully, his tone measured and contemplative.
Recognizing the dismissal, I rose to my feet and inclined my head respectfully, "Thank you, Hokage-sama." Without lingering or showing any hesitation, I turned and left the room.
As I walked away, I reflected on the encounter. Surprisingly, the discussion had been far less tense than I had anticipated. While there were moments of subtle power plays and unspoken challenges, the overall atmosphere was calmer than expected.
Perhaps it was a sign that the Hokage was beginning to see reason.
Who am I kidding? He's probably just biding his time, waiting for the right moment to catch me off guard and strike decisively—or perhaps he won't. It's impossible to say for certain.
As the saying goes, never underestimate the older ones in a profession where most don't live long. There's a reason they've survived this long.
Anyway, I have already laid the groundwork for my plans.
When Tsunade finally returns to the village, I'll revisit the idea of forming a select group of promising shinobi to learn the Hiraishin Jutsu. My goal will be to ensure Shisui's inclusion on that list. By doing so, both the Uchiha Clan and the village will gain a formidable asset—a shinobi capable of standing as a deterrent to Obito's schemes.
The alternative is far less ideal. If Shisui cannot be trained in Hiraishin, it will be up to me or Kakashi to stop that simp.
However, Kakashi has yet to begin training with his Mangekyou Sharingan, and given his limited chakra reserves, it will likely take a long time before he becomes proficient in using Kamui.
As for me, countering Obito's Kamui would require frequent use of my own Mangekyou Sharingan abilities—a dangerous scenario given the rapid deterioration it could cause to my vision.
It seems I have to accelerate my plans to address the devastating backlash of using the Mangekyou Sharingan.
