Chapter 5: Chapter 1: Life In the Dimensional Gap With Two OP Dragons
'Awwwwwe. Look at all the pretty colors!'
Stranded in the endless expanse of swirling colors of the Dimensional Gap, Hespera was entertaining herself by using her newly discovered Draconic Phoenix wings to travel through the rainbow colored space. Her tiny, newborn body felt weightless.
Her eyes, a deep dark reddish pink tinged with sunset hues and black slitted pupils, flickered around her surroundings with amusement.
She giggled—or, well, tried to. It was difficult when her vocal muscles barely functioned yet.
Her memories weren't all devoured by the River of Rebirth. She still kept her eidetic memory, so she actually remembered the time when she was in the river. Everything before that was a completele haze.
What was concerning however, were the memories of this infant body. To say her new self's past was strange would be an understatement.
Born as Hespera Eveningstar in the era the biblical God created his angels, the twin sister of the Morningstar angel, was created to counterbalance her twin brother. When dear old Luci raged war on their father, she was forced into slumber by God and hidden away on earth so that her twin couldn't merge their souls. Her angel powers were suppressed causing her to return to the base form of all angels—the cherubim. The cherubim were a form similar to an infant's, hence the current form she poccessed.
When father dearest died and her angelic siblings were left running around like chickens without a head, tryng to function without their ruler, Azazel discovered her resting place. For centuries he did experiments on her. Wanting to create a humanoid sacred gear, he used different DNA from the most powerful races. Unfortunately for him, the experiments ultimately failed. He discarded her into the dimensional gap since he himself couldn't kill her.
Seriously, using the Phenex line's DNA, is he out of his mind.
Weightless, she floated through the shifting void, instinctively maneuvering with the grace of a child learning to swim. She tried to giggle at the sensation, but the sound came out garbled and weak. Stupid baby speech!
After a while she got bored and fell asleep.

Deep within the Dimensional Gap, an infinite and primordial entity, embodying the concept of infinity itself, slowly opened her eyes. The enormous, otherworldly serpent-like dragon, coiled endlessly upon itself. Her body was a sleek, obsidian black, darker than the void with traces of deep purple, absorbing light rather than reflecting it.
Her scales shimmered faintly with an ethereal glow, hinting at the boundless power she contained. Her eyes, deep and enigmatic violet, held an unfathomable void, a direct contrast to the destructive power she possessed. A low, almost inaudible hum resonated from her, an otherworldly sound that signified the constant presence of infinite energy.
The sheer pressure of her presence distorted reality, making the space around her ripple as if struggling to contain her. Her aura was neither malevolent nor benevolent—simply an overwhelming existence beyond mortal comprehension.
The Ouroboros dragon started to move through the colorful void. She had sensed a distortion in the dimensional gap not long ago, sensing a familiarity with it.
Ophis drifted closer, weaving through the turbulent void with effortless grace, the chaotic energy parting before her in quiet reverence. As she approached the disturbance, her piercing violet gaze finally settled on the source.
A child?
No, not a child. A cherubim—one tainted by unnatural power, yet undeniably celestial in origin.
'Smells of Dragon. Older... more powerful than me.' She paused to sniff the small creature again. 'Phoenix. And Death? Not certain of the third. Feels like home.'
The tiny cherub floated helplessly amidst the swirling torrents of cosmic energy, her body small and frail, but her very existence contradicted the nature of the Gap. She was not supposed to be here. And yet, she was at the same time.
'Silence. She feels like my sweet silence.'
Ophis's enormous, serpent-like form coiled around the child's sleeping figure, her massive body moving like an endless loop with no beginning and no end. The dragon's shadow cast an oppressive abyssal darkness over the infant, eclipsing the colorful chaos of the surrounding void.
She sighed in content. Finally at peace.
Still, the cherub slept.
Unbothered.
Unaware that she was now under the gaze of one of the most powerful beings in existence.
Ophis observed her in silence. Her glowing violet eyes scanned the cherub's form, noting every unnatural detail—the draconic presence within her tiny body, the faint but undeniable traces of Phenex flames licking at her wings, the lingering divine light of an angelic soul trapped within a corrupted shell.
Ophis's eyes widen in realization. 'She is similar to the void...Nihility. Chaos.'
Pleased she had retrieved her silence once more through this girl, Ophis headed back to her resting spot.
~☆~
Time soon passed and Hespera lived happily with her new "mommy" Ophis.
With the seal placed on her by the biblical God gone, Hespera's body was able to grow to her natural form.
If Luci was called the most handsome angel among heaven, then his twin sister would have been called the most beautiful.
Hespera had long silver hair that reached down her back that curled at the ends. The silver faded to violet, indigo and greenish-blue. She had mesmerizing heterochromatic emerald and amethyst eyes with slitted pupils and long thick black eyelashes that made her look like she always wore eyeliner. Hespera had smooth olive skin that glowed a slight golden hue, even in the Dimensional Gap.
In her current form, she was above average height at 5'8" with an hour-glass figure. Since this was the High School DxD universe, she developed gravity defying breasts.

At the moment she was sparring with Ophis. Uncle Red spectating (horribly) on the side lines.
On one side stood Ophis, the Ouroboros Dragon, no longer in her childlike form. She had chosen to manifest as an adult, standing tall with a lithe, elegant yet deadly frame. Long, silky black hair cascaded down her back, streaked with hints of violet energy. Her obsidian-black gown clung to her figure, shifting like liquid shadow as she moved. Her pale complexion contrasted sharply with her violet eyes, which shimmered with an unfathomable void of infinity.
And opposite her was her adopted daughter.
The twin sister of Lucifer, infused with dragonic, phoenix, and chaotic energy, stood confidently, stretching her limbs in preparation. Her silver hair, with violet, indigo, and green-blue hues, fluttered in the ethereal wind of the Gap, and her emerald and amethyst eyes gleamed with anticipation.
And then… there was Great Red.
The biggest, baddest dragon in existence, known to many as the True Red Dragon God Emperor, was currently reclining on a conjured beach chair, wearing sunglasses, a Hawaiian shirt, and sipping from a ridiculously oversized coconut drink while commentating like a drunk sports announcer.
"Welcome, welcome to the FIRST official sparring match between the mighty Ouroboros Dragon, the Silent Queen of Infinity, OPHIS! And the little newbie, fresh outta the egg, but still packing some serious heat—HESPERA EVENINGSTAAAR! Now, folks, we're about to witness either a legendary battle… or a homicide. LET'S FIND OUT!"
Hespera groaned. "Uncle Red, why are you like this? Also, I've been "out of the egg" as you call it, for quite some time now."
Great Red waved a claw dismissively. "Oh, hush, niecey. This is prime entertainment. Now get in there and make me proud!"
Ophis merely blinked at Great Red, then turned her gaze back to Hespera.
"We begin," she stated simply.
And then she moved.
Ophis was fast.
No, fast was an insult to what just happened.
One second she was standing still, the next Hespera was nearly obliterated by a strike so strong it shattered the very fabric of space itself.
Hespera barely managed to twist out of the way, her instincts screaming as her wings flared to life. She teleported mid-air, reappearing above Ophis and retaliating with a flaming roundhouse kick wreathed in Phoenix fire.
Ophis raised a single finger.
And blocked it.
The shockwave sent a ripple through the Dimensional Gap, causing cracks to form in the surrounding reality.
Great Red whistled. "Oh-ho! Would you look at that, folks? Hespera comes in hot with a fiery roundhouse, but Ophis ain't having ANY of it! That's right, ladies and gentlemen, this match is already looking like an uphill battle for our little niecey!"
Hespera gritted her teeth, wings beating furiously as she pushed against Ophis's absurd strength. But Ophis didn't even budge.
"You hesitate," Ophis noted, her voice calm, "That is weakness."
And with one push, she sent Hespera flying backward.
Hespera flipped mid-air, regaining control before slamming her hands together. Magenta lightning crackled at her fingertips, her power surging.
"Alright, let's see how you handle THIS!"
With a flick of her wrist, a massive spear of condensed chaotic energy erupted forward, spiraling toward Ophis at speeds that should have been impossible to dodge.
Great Red let out a dramatic gasp. "Ohhh, she's pulling out the big guns! Look at that form! Look at that precision! And—oh, oh, wait—"
Ophis tilted her head slightly to the left, and the spear missed.
Hespera's eye twitched. "Are you KIDDING ME?!"
Great Red erupted into laughter. "OH-HO-HO, FOLKS, SHE JUST GOT ANIME PROTAGONIST DODGED! CLASSIC MOVE! CLASSIC!"
Ophis looked at the spear as it disintegrated behind her.
"Your control is better than before. But your focus is unstable."
Hespera scoffed, clenching her fists. "Fine, let's see how you handle a real hit!"
With a single beat of her wings, she exploded forward, blinking in and out of existence using short-ranged teleportation. Her speed was incomprehensible, and for a split second, she was everywhere at once.
She appeared directly behind Ophis, aiming a devastating palm strike infused with draconic energy.
"Gotcha—!"
And then she hit… nothing.
Ophis had vanished.
Hespera's eyes widened. "Where—?"
"Behind you."
Before she could react, Ophis delivered a gentle tap to the back of her head.
It sent Hespera crashing into the depths of the Dimensional Gap, tearing through several layers of existence before she managed to stop herself.
Great Red whistled loudly. "OHHHH! DOWN SHE GOES! That was a LOVING pat right there! You can really feel the motherly affection in that strike!"
Hespera groaned, rubbing the back of her head. "Okay. Ow."
She teleported back up, landing lightly in front of Ophis.
Ophis observed her with her usual impassive expression.
"You lasted longer than before," she noted.
Hespera sighed, stretching her arms. "That's… kinda depressing, but I'll take it."
Great Red cheered, tossing his coconut drink into the abyss. "AND THAT, FOLKS, CONCLUDES THIS EPIC MATCH! The score remains a solid Ophis: One Billion, Hespera: Zero. BUT! Our little underdog showed some spirit, and that's what matters!"
Hespera shot him a look. "You are the absolute worst commentator. Bad, bad uncle."
Great Red grinned. "And yet, you love me."
Hespera muttered under her breath but didn't deny it. Even though he was male, he was still family.
Ophis, as always, remained unreadable before speaking once more.
"Again. We continue training."
Hespera stiffened. "W-Wait, no, I need a break—!"
Ophis vanished and reappeared in front of her, ready to continue.
Great Red leaned back in his chair, hands behind his head as he watched his "niece" suffer.
"Welp. Better her than me."
~☆~
"Do you really have to go?"
Hespera watched as the Apocalypse Dragon pouted. Actually pouted. Lip and everything!
She found the image of one of if not the most powerful beings in the universe, acting like a child in front of Ophis, hilarious.
Ophis was less amused. Not that anyone could read her emotions by her facial expressions.
"Yes. Hespie, wants to go to school in the mortal world. I'm going with her. My silence..." Her voice faded at the end, but Red seemed to understood.
He sighed heavily, before begrudgingly mumbling, "Fiiiine. Go, but make sure to come and visit every once in awhile. It will be boring without my adorable niecey."
Hespera couldn't cold back her chuckle anymore. Her uncle was really cute when he was like this.
"Don't pout uncle, we'll be back before you know it." She reached out and patted his crimson red scales.
"Humph! I'm not pouting. Dragons don't pout, we're too godly for such things." Great Red defended, all while blushing and turning his head away from them.
"Hehe~ Sure uncle, sure. Anyway, we're heading out now."
Ophis opened a portal that leads to the mortal world and stepped through.
Waving a goodbye to the giant dragon, Hespera followed her mom through the portal, it closing after them.
What greeted them was the night sky of Kuoh Japan.
Hespera's boots touched solid ground for the first time in her life. The Dimensional Gap was a place of infinite nothingness, where time and space meant nothing, but here…
The mortal world felt...odd. 'The mana feels less pure. It's thinner too.'
The cool night air carried the scent of fresh earth, faint hints of sakura petals drifting in the breeze. The distant hum of streetlights, the rustle of leaves, and the occasional sound of an owl hooting somewhere in the trees—all so mundane, yet so vivid.
She tilted her head, taking in the new surroundings.
The streets of Kuoh Town were quiet at this hour, illuminated only by the glow of streetlamps and the faint neon signs from distant shops.
Ophis stood beside her, expression unreadable, her violet eyes scanning the area. Unlike her usual form in the Dimensional Gap, she had adopted her human-like appearance—a petite girl with long black hair, pale skin, and those same hauntingly deep violet eyes.
"We have arrived," Ophis stated simply.
Hespera smirked, stretching her arms. "Well, this is definitely different from home."
Ophis turned to her. "You chose this."
"Yeah, yeah, I know," Hespera rolled her eyes playfully. "I figured if I'm going to be interacting with the supernatural world, I might as well experience normalcy for once. Besides," she grinned, "school sounds fun."
Ophis blinked. "School is pointless."
Hespera chuckled. "You sound like Uncle Red."
Ophis hummed in thought. "Hn. He is not wrong."
"Gee, thanks for the confidence boost, Mom. Anyway, we need a home base. Have you—huh?"
Just then a black and white ethereal status screen popped up in front of her. Golden letters started appearing.
[Hehe~ Ello~ Chaos here. I know, I know. You probably forgot all about darling me. Stupid River of Rebirth, taking your memories of our time together. Such a greedy little thing. But don't worry, I made sure to make Rebirth pay dearly for it.
Anyways, before I created and shot that system folding airplane into you right before you entered that greedy river, I made it so that the moment you stepped foot onto human lands, it'll unlock. Once this message ends, a copy of your memories of your past life, along with the time we had together, will be transferred to you in the form of a marble sized ball in the system. All you have to do is pop it in your mouth and treat it like the best hard candy you ever tasted. I think it's rasberry flavor? All your stuff you purchased with your karma points will be in there too.
What else... hm, oh! I, as the best parent ever, supplied compendaries like a home, transportation, money, etc for you. See? Aren't I amazing!
Oh, Death says: "Hi, cutie. See you the first time you kill someone. I'll bet it will be beautiful~" Btw, she said it in that sexy voice she uses with you.
Okay, that should be it. Remember to wreak absolute chaos in that world. Bye-bye!]
Ding!
[System has been unlocked]
Hespera stared at the system screen in bemusement.
"Huh. Didn't see that one coming."
