Chaos's Daughter: Sweet But Psycho

Chapter 6: Chapter 2: Old Yet New Memories Brings Out Her Psycho

Hespera grinned, her heterochromatic eyes gleaming with unnerving excitement.

"Hehe~ Mom, I think I just got a love letter from the concept of Chaos itself."

Ophis merely blinked, her violet eyes impassive as ever. "Hn. Expected."

Hespera hummed, scrolling through the system interface that had materialized in front of her. Her fingers danced over the translucent screen, the golden letters shifting with every flick.

[New Notification: Memory Restoration Available.]

[Would you like to consume the Memory Orb? Y/N]

She tilted her head, a sharp, cat-like grin forming on her lips. "A raspberry-flavored orb of my lost memories? Well, don't mind if I do~"

Without hesitation, she materialized the small, swirling ball of golden-red light into her palm and popped it into her mouth like candy.

The moment it hit her tongue, her body seized.

Flashes of a different life—a life before the River of Rebirth—flooded her mind.

A realm of unfiltered chaos, where reality bent and twisted. A voice—smooth, sultry, and affectionate—whispering wicked things in her ear. A figure draped in crimson, lips permanently in a scowl that was both annoyed and resigned. A pair of arms cradling her, promising destruction and affection in the same breath. And a laugh—wild, unhinged, and utterly intoxicating.

And then—

A familiar voice purred into her ear:

"Oh, my little darling has returned~ Did you miss me?"

Hespera's breath hitched, and then—

She laughed.

Soft at first. Then louder. Then fully unhinged.

A laugh that echoed through the quiet streets of Kuoh, sending a shiver through the air.

Her chaotic, violent, and utterly delighted presence bloomed, stretching far beyond the limits of a normal aura. The very air crackled, distorting slightly as if space itself was uncomfortable in her presence.

Ophis simply watched.

When the laughter finally settled into soft giggles, Hespera wiped a fake tear from her eye, exhaling dramatically.

"Wow. That was a trip."

She stretched, twisting her body, rolling her shoulders.

"Memories? Restored. Past connections? Reawakened. Sense of morality?" She tilted her head, tapping her chin thoughtfully before breaking into a bright, eerie grin. "Still questionable!"

Ophis remained silent, but her gaze lingered.

"Hespie," she finally said.

"Hmm?"

"Your aura is leaking."

Hespera blinked. Then glanced around.

Oh.

The streetlights were flickering violently, the air around her vibrating in a warped, unstable haze.

Oops.

"Hehe~ Whoopsie! Got a little excited~"

With a snap of her fingers, she reeled it back in, the world around her returning to its normal, dull stability.

Ophis hummed in approval.

"Good control."

Hespera smirked, spinning on her heels. "Why, thank you, Mother~ Now, let's see what other goodies Chaos left me."

She flicked her wrist, opening the inventory section of her system.

And oh-ho-ho, did Chaos deliver.

Hespera clapped her hands together, positively vibrating with delight.

"Oh, Chaos, you sweet, twisted thing—you really know how to spoil me!"

She turned to Ophis, her excitement barely contained.

"Mom, can we go see my new murder house? Pretty please~?"

Ophis gave a slow blink. "Hn. Yes."

Hespera squealed, actually bouncing on the balls of her feet.

"YESSSS! Let's go~!"

She raised a hand, about to open a portal to her new domain when suddenly—

Ding!

[New Quest: 'Make an Entrance']

Objective: Arrive at Kuoh Academy in a way that leaves an unforgettable first impression.

Reward: ???

Hespera paused, her eyes flicking to the system screen.

Then, her grin sharpened.

"...Well, well, well. Isn't this just my lucky day?"

Ophis tilted her head slightly, studying her daughter. "You are still cute when excited. Just more. Glad."

Hespera beamed.

"Hehe. Thanks mom!"

With a flick of her wrist, Hespera opened a portal, the swirling vortex of black, violet, and magenta energy humming with an eerie pulse.

"Come, Mother! Let's see what my new murder palace looks like~"

Ophis, ever silent, simply stepped through first.

Hespera followed, skipping happily, and the portal snapped shut behind them with a final shimmer of spatial distortion.

What greeted them on the other side was not just a mansion.

It was a monument to decadence, madness, and absolute luxury.

Nestled deep within a secluded, enchanted forest on the outskirts of Kuoh, the estate was surrounded by towering blackwood trees, their silver-leafed branches twisting unnaturally, swaying despite the absence of wind. A high, obsidian-black gate, engraved with glowing, eldritch runes, marked the entrance. The entire area was protected by barriers so powerful that even the strongest supernatural entities would have difficulty stepping foot on the grounds without permission.

And then, there was the mansion itself.

A gothic masterpiece of architecture.

The main structure was an enormous black and white estate, a cross between a dark fairytale castle and a modern luxury villa. Glowing violet veins of magic pulsed along the obsidian stone walls, illuminating the structure with an eerie, almost breathing presence.

The rooftops were adorned with curved, intricate spires, some ending in dragon-winged gargoyle statues, their ruby eyes flickering as though alive.

The windows were tall, stained glass, depicting various chaotic, shifting images—a serpent devouring its tail, a phoenix wreathed in black flames, a woman dancing in a storm of blood and rose petals—the patterns never quite staying the same each time they were glanced at.

The main entrance was a grand double-door, creamy-white with intricate gold embroidery, depicting swirling, otherworldly symbols of Chaos itself. As soon as Hespera stepped closer, the doors creaked open on their own, releasing a faint, almost musical whisper of laughter, as if the mansion was welcoming her home.

"Oh, ho, ho… I love it already~"

Hespera twirled, taking everything in.

Ophis, standing beside her, gave the mansion a single long, assessing glance, before giving an approving hum.

"Hn. Good defenses."

"Right?! Look at those barriers! If someone tries to sneak in without permission, they'll get their existence rewritten into a garden shrub! Isn't that neat?"

Ophis simply blinked. "Acceptable security."

Hespera clasped her hands together, beaming. "Mom, you're so understated. Just say it—it's perfect."

Ophis nodded slowly.

"...It is. Good home for you."

Hespera squealed internally.

"Come on, let's see the inside!"

The moment they stepped past the threshold, the interior of the mansion shifted around them, like a living entity adjusting to their presence.

The entrance hall was a breathtaking fusion of gothic elegance and supernatural charm.

The floor was black marble, polished to perfection, reflecting the ethereal glow of chandeliers that floated in midair, their crimson and gold flames flickering without wax or fuel.

At the center of the hall, a grand staircase with onyx railings and deep red velvet carpeting spiraled upwards into the upper levels. The walls shifted slightly, their textures and designs never quite the same when looked at from different angles—one moment, they were grand black marble with gold inlays, the next, they pulsed with violet, runic veins, as if the very structure was alive.

Lining the hall were towering bookshelves, filled with tomes of ancient knowledge, some radiating a dangerous aura, others whispering softly when passed by.

"Oh, this is delightful," Hespera practically purred, running her fingers along a book that shuddered beneath her touch.

To the right of the hall, an open lounge area awaited, featuring luxurious black and crimson furniture, oversized sofas, and a massive fireplace where violet-blue flames burned in defiance of natural law.

The ceiling stretched impossibly high, shifting like a starlit void, a mirror to the cosmic chaos beyond dimensions.

To the left, an opulent dining hall lay in wait, featuring a long, darkwood table, enchanted to automatically prepare meals suited to the eater's taste, while a massive golden chandelier bathed the space in warm, flickering light.

Every room pulsed with subtle, chaotic magic—one door might lead to a cozy study, another might lead to an entire indoor garden with bioluminescent flowers and a floating koi pond, while yet another might drop someone into a gravity-defying lounge where furniture sat suspended in midair.

Hespera turned to Ophis, her eyes practically glowing.

"This. This is home."

Ophis gave a slow nod. "Hn."

Then—

Ding!

[System Notification: House Registered as Main Base]

[Title Unlocked: 'Lady of Chaos Manor']

[Bonus Perks Applied]

Hespera snickered, stretching her arms. "Alright! That's one thing checked off my list. Now—bedrooms!"

She bolted up the grand staircase, Ophis following at her usual unbothered pace.

At the very top of the mansion, past a long corridor lined with enchanted torches, double doors of deep indigo and black stood waiting.

Hespera pushed them open, and—

The master bedroom was a dream of decadence and danger.

The massive bed sat upon a raised dais, black silk sheets and violet pillows artfully arranged. The walls shimmered, at times showing galaxies in the distance, other times chaotic storms of color, shifting between different realms of existence.

A gothic-styled vanity and closet space took up an entire wall, clothing appearing and disappearing as needed.

A side lounge sat next to floor-to-ceiling windows, overlooking an impossibly beautiful view of the forest below, glowing under moonlight despite there being no full moon tonight.

In the far corner, a personal weapons display rotated, showing an assortment of daggers, whips, pistols, and elegantly crafted swords.

And in the very center of the room—

A giant floating orb of chaotic energy lazily spun, shifting between colors, humming in amusement.

Hespera gasped dramatically.

"...MY BEDROOM HAS A CHAOS CORE?!"

The orb pulsed, a soft voice echoing: "Hello, mistress~ Welcome home~"

Ophis blinked. "...It talks."

Hespera flopped onto her bed, arms stretched wide, giggling like an unhinged schoolgirl.

"Mom. I am never leaving. This is the best. House. Ever."

Ophis simply took a seat on a floating cushion.

"You still have school tomorrow."

Hespera groaned, rolling over dramatically. "Ugh, why do you ruin my fun?"

Ophis blinked slowly. "Said school is pointless."

"...Then why am I going?"

"You insisted."

Hespera squinted at her mother figure. Then pouted.

"Fine. But I'm killing the first person that annoys me."

Ophis hummed. "Hn. Expected." Her daughter was quite the murder bunny.

~☆~

The next morning, Hespera woke up with a headache. That raspberry-flavored Memory Orb thingy made her far more energetic than she usually was.

'This was why I wasn't allowed candy in my last life. Guh, stupid aftereffects. Nobody better annoy me today, otherwise I will go murder hobo on their asses.'

With half lidded eyes, she dragged herself out of bed and got ready for her first day of highschool.

She shuffled into her ensuite bathroom and squinted at her reflection in the gothic-style vanity mirror. The glowing, shifting patterns of chaos energy made it look like her own reflection was laughing at her.

"Ugh. Shut up," she grumbled at herself.

With a groggy sigh, she splashed cold water on her face, quickly freshening up.

By the time she was dressed in her Kuoh Academy uniform, her headache had dulled to a tolerable level.

Still, her half-lidded, glowing eyes and the faint, dangerous aura leaking from her body gave the distinct impression that she was either extremely tired or about to commit a massacre.

Probably both.

Hespera trudged out of her bedroom, arms stretched, yawning lazily.

Ophis was already waiting for her at the dining table, calmly drinking tea.

Ophis blinked at her murderously tired expression and simply said:

"Your energy levels are normal if not a bit...low."

Hespera, still too groggy to act like a proper agent of chaos, flopped into a chair and groaned.

"Stupid orb. Stupid Chaos. Stupid school. Why did I sign up for this?"

Ophis took a slow sip of her tea. "You were 'bored.'"

"Past me was an idiot."

Ophis nodded. "Hn. Agreed."

Hespera made an offended noise before shoving a buttered croissant into her mouth.

A few minutes later, she finished breakfast, her mood marginally less murderous.

She grabbed her bag, stood up, and stretched.

"Alright, let's get this over with. Time to traumatize an entire school." Just thinking about all the delicious little prey made lick her lips.
