Chapter 4: Chapter 4: The Great Midnight Adventure
According to the original owner's diary of grudges, he never exactly warmed up to Ai Lili—mostly because he was green with envy. He was jealous of her perfect family, adoring parents, endless praise, and a life that looked like it was sponsored by sunshine and rainbows. And Ai Lili? Well, she returned his frosty vibes with the kind of indifferent coolness that could chill a cup of cocoa. They'd squabble like mismatched roommates over the TV remote.
So tonight, Ai Lili decided to play the overly caring big sister, which left Pro scratching his head in confusion. He mulled over wild theories for a moment before shrugging it off. "The past is the past, and now I'm stuck with a sister who sometimes acts like she's auditioning for a soap opera—so long as we get along, I'm cool with it."
Fresh from a marathon nap that lasted way too long for comfort (but hey, who's counting sleep hours in a magical realm?), Pro wasn't sleepy at all in the dead of night. With nothing better to do, he grabbed a book off the bookshelf and plopped it onto the bed for a late-night read. The book's title, "Magic Mastery and Techniques," promised to turn him into a spell-slinging whiz—if only he could decipher its otherworldly words.
While Pro was lost in his book, Ai Lili and her retinue of maids had just left the room. Not even a step had been taken before head maid Yilan's voice echoed from behind:
"Miss Ai Lili!"
Ai Lili spun around, her expression serious yet impatient, and said, "Spit it out—what's up?"
With the utmost respect (and a hint of exasperation), Yilan reported, "Miss Ai Lili, Master Pro has devoured an astonishing amount of food tonight—so much, in fact, that it appears he might've even polished off an entire plate of fruit before dinner. When I first came in, every single fruit in his room had vanished!"
This revelation hit Ai Lili like a ton of enchanted bricks. Having lived with Pro for two years, she knew his appetite was impressive—but this was next-level gluttony. After a long, dramatic pause that would've impressed a soap opera star, she ordered, "When you go, tell the other maids to keep tonight's antics strictly confidential. And Yilan…" she added, with a twinkle of mischief, "Come and dress me."
Yilan quickly cautioned, "Miss Ai Lili, it's still early—perhaps you should get some more sleep?"
"Nope," Ai Lili replied with a shake of her head. "Sleep is for the weak—I've got things to handle." With that, Yilan trailed back with Ai Lili, leaving the room to its own mysterious silence.

Pro's Room
Meanwhile, Pro sat on his bed, intently reading "Magic Mastery and Techniques"—the guidebook that his reclusive, book-loving predecessor left behind. Despite being only eight years old in his past life (and somehow now sporting a more complicated life), the original owner's voracious reading habit meant that Pro had picked up enough of the arcane vocabulary to make sense of most of it. It was like inheriting an encyclopedia written in magical hieroglyphics—a huge help indeed.
The book explained, in meticulous detail, how to control magic power, sense its ebb and flow in the environment, and master the basics every fledgling magician needed to know. Apparently, magic wasn't just an optional party trick on the Iraca Continent—it was the very essence that held everything together. In ancient times, only the "chosen by the world" could wield magic, and that automatically made them nobility. But as time passed, even ordinary folks started dabbling in magic. Nobles had no choice but to grudgingly accept that civilians could learn magic too, though they still looked down on them like someone who prefers decaf over espresso. (And slaves? They were strictly forbidden from even touching a wand.)
Then came a legend: Miletus, the current dean of the Tanluo Royal Magic Academy. Born a commoner with outrageously powerful magical talent (and the unique ability to manipulate time and space), he rocketed to super-magician status by the age of 20, and later even morphed into a "dark and decayed" magician—whatever that means—making him the only divine magician among humans. The hierarchy of magic levels went something like this: apprentice, Dust Star, Red Sun, Super-level, Dark and Decayed, and finally Divine Transcendence. Miletus had once single-handedly shoved millions of demons back and saved the Tanluo Empire, becoming the pride of common children everywhere while simultaneously forcing nobles to rethink their prejudices.
As for Pro? He wasn't in the mood to carve out a new legend for the Iraca Continent. His wish was simple: live in peace. This had been his dream in his previous life, and now, in his reimagined existence, he was even more determined to stick to it.
Yet, curiosity is as persistent as a toddler with a crayon, so Pro returned his gaze to the book and decided to test his magical senses. The book mentioned a nifty trick: if you're not sure you have magic, just hold a "Magic Sense Stone." If it glows, congrats—you're magical; if not, well, there goes your chance at wizard fame. The brightness and color of the glow supposedly tell you all about your magic's strength and type (wind, fire, earth, water, etc.).
Not having ever tested himself with one of these mystical stones, Pro figured he might as well give it a shot—after all, what's the worst that could happen (aside from losing a piece of meat in the process)? Following the instructions, he closed his eyes, relaxed his entire being, and tried to feel the ambient magic by focusing on the flow of air and subtle space fluctuations.
When Pro finally opened his eyes, he was greeted by the sight of that very fantasy space he'd encountered before with the mischievous system Li Xuanchen. Two gigantic vortices—one red, one blue—spun overhead like overgrown party decorations. Pro immediately suspected the "bad system" was at it again. He scanned the area for Li Xuanchen, but the guy was nowhere in sight. Then, recalling that Li Xuanchen had mentioned being in a sort of "system sleep," Pro wondered aloud, "So who invited me to this magical rave?"
