Dandadan : The True potentiel of Psychic powers

Chapter 5: Chapter 5: Psychic Powers and Confrontation with Momo Ayase(1)

Narrator's POV

[Guys, where are you?]

As soon as he left the abandoned building, Kenta immediately contacted Akira and his subordinates.

He no longer had the luxury of wasting time because of his agreement with the Serpos, so he preferred to ignore his injuries.

'I really hope they didn't fail their mission,' he thinks while typing messages to each gang member.

[Boss, you're alive!!!]

[I knew some weird perverts couldn't beat the boss.]

Several messages started bombing Kenta's phone after a few minutes.

He unconsciously smiled looking at this scene, as it confirmed the survival of his subordinates and the success of their task.

'At least they're safe, unlike Okarun and Momo after their confrontation with the Serpos.'

Kenta was a bit afraid that the Serpo might try to scam him by hiring Aliens to recover their companion.

[Akira, answer my question.]

[Oh, sorry, we're at my place.]

This response surprised Kenta a little, before he nodded in understanding at Akira's decision.

'I remember his parents are traveling recently and he's an only child.'

Kenta locked his phone after getting the relevant information from Akira and the others, before immediately heading to their location.

'Fortunately, I've been to Akira's place a few times.'

Akira had a habit of inviting friends over for various reasons, like playing on his console, drinking, or other pleasures.

Ding

As he rang the doorbell, Kenta felt a bit uncomfortable because of the stares from some neighbors.

It must be said that he was wearing clothes in poor condition, and it could have been worse if he hadn't tried to wipe the blood off himself with a tissue.

'Damn, this idiot is taking too long.'

Just as Kenta was starting to mentally curse his useless subordinates, the door finally opened.

"Boss!!!!" Akira's voice and the others overlapped as they lunged toward Kenta with tears in their eyes.

Boom

Kenta simply dodged their display of affection, as he didn't want to risk stupidly aggravating his injuries.

'I've got nothing against brotherly hugs, but I'm bleeding here.'

"Sorry guys, but I'm not in good shape."

Kenta entered the house by walking on the backs of the guys on the floor.

"Where did you throw that guy?" he asked after settling into a chair to relax his body, which was more exhausted than expected.

….

"Barbarian!!!!" screamed the Serpo, struggling energetically, but his escape attempts were futile.

When he noticed Kenta's arrival in the basement, he became even more agitated.

"How dare you!!!" he hissed venomously.

'Judging by the energy he's displaying, he must have woken up recently,' thought Kenta, before his gaze was drawn to metal debris on the ground.

With one glance, he understood that the Serpo had tried to use an alien gadget, but without success.

"Did you break these things?" he asked the bald guy next to him, pointing to the debris on the floor.

"Yes, boss, he suddenly pulled this thing out of his gut, so I panicked a bit... I just preferred to smash it with my metal bat, just in case," he explained nervously.

Kenta nodded, approving this initiative.

'I should give him a promotion.'

He knew how dangerous curiosity could be in adolescence, but this guy had acted with caution and efficiency.

Of course, he might have destroyed these gadgets out of ignorance, but only the final result counts in this world.

The others hadn't yet understood the true nature of the Serpo, but each already seemed to have their own theory after witnessing recent events.

"It seems that restraining your movements prevents the use of your psychic abilities," Kenta stated, leaning toward the alien.

Kenta's words seemed to destabilize the Serpo.

This information wasn't coincidental: he had learned it by reading Dandadan.

By the way, the Serpo race wasn't the only one needing their hands to use psychic powers.

Momo Ayase also had trouble using them when she was tied up.

A somewhat stupid handicap from Kenta's point of view, but a real blessing for him.

"Listen, my dear extraterrestrial friend," he said, barely masking his disgust toward the pervert alien.

"I don't plan to hurt you, since I have sort of an agreement with your accomplices."

A murmur of shock went through the room.

For his subordinates, this revelation was a bit incomprehensible. Kenta had never explained that they would kidnap an alien or that he would negotiate with them.

From their perspective, the Serpos were just shady adults who had tried to kidnap a high school girl from their school, aka Momo Ayase.

So they had simply thought that Kenta had acted out of pure altruism.

Kenta ignored the reactions around him.

'Once I have my psychic powers, I can simply erase the memory of mentally weak or unreliable people.'

It was cold, but necessary.

The supernatural world of Dandadan was anything but friendly, and Kenta knew he couldn't afford to take risks or keep weak people with him.

"So, why am I still tied up?" replied the Serpo, trying to tone down his joy.

Kenta sketched a cunning smile, his glasses cracked from the fight reflecting an unsettling gleam.

"I need your cooperation for an important private service. In exchange, I won't do anything to you until your return, and I'll even have a moral debt to you."

He paused.

The atmosphere became heavier, to the point of making everyone uncomfortable, including the alien.

"Of course, if you don't cooperate..."

With a slow gesture, he pulled out a syringe he had discreetly taken from Akira earlier.

"...then I'll be forced to make an unpleasant decision for both of us."

"Like, for example, finding a way to change your body irreversibly."

His cunning smile slowly became more sadistic, a facet of himself that Kenta was still unaware of.

"I remember that you Serpos place great importance on your genetic heritage."

At this mention, the Serpo's body instinctively trembled. His eyes widened with fear as he stared at the syringe in Kenta's hands.

"STOP!!!"

As Kenta was about to continue, the Serpo interrupted him in a trembling voice, without a trace of his initial arrogance.

"I... I'll cooperate," he said, trying to calm his nervousness.

"Excellent choice." Kenta clapped his hands, delighted.

"Oh, I almost forgot..." he added as he headed toward the stairs, ready to take a shower and rest a bit.

He stopped abruptly before casting one last cold look at the alien still tied up in the basement.

"If you try to outsmart me... you die."

The aura of a seasoned gangster, forged by years of ruthless conflicts, suddenly intensified around him.

In reality (on Earth), this would have only caused a shiver.

But here, in a world where the supernatural was very real, the murderous intent emanating from Kenta was palpable.

The Serpo, despite his usual arrogance, felt his instincts screaming danger.

He had already faced and associated with mercenaries, but something about this kid froze his blood.

It was as if Kenta wasn't looking at a living being, but a thing, an insect, or even a fictional being.

'...Is he really going to kill me?!'

Without another word, Kenta left the room, leaving two subordinates to watch the shocked alien.
