Chapter 4: Chapter 4: Damn Sexist Alien (2)
Narrator's POV
"Help!!!" The panicked voice of a young girl echoed down the hallway.
Kenta immediately understood the situation thanks to Momo's cry for help, but he didn't react hastily.
On the contrary, he calmly placed a hand on Akira's chest, stopping his subordinate and former bully who was ready to intervene.
"Boss?" Akira asked, confused by Kenta's attitude.
"Calm down, idiot," replied Kenta in a tone harsher than he intended.
His future in the Dandadan universe was literally at stake here.
"We're facing strange adult perverts, we can't just rush in headfirst."
At these words, Akira, though still perplexed, nodded in understanding before muttering a brief apology.
"We move slowly and quietly," added Kenta while directing his gaze toward the source of the fighting sounds.
He knew that moving with so many people risked being noisy and getting them spotted quickly.
But despite everything, he trusted Momo Ayase.
'A girl like her wouldn't let herself be kidnapped so easily.'
As expected, Momo struggled fiercely, capturing enough of the Serpos' attention to allow the group to sneak around discreetly.
"S... Stop!"
When Momo let out a final cry of protest before fainting in the aliens' arms, Kenta noticed a moment of relaxation among them.
The Serpos seemed calm, confident after neutralizing their target.
The opportunity was too good to pass up.
"The Strongest!!!"
With a leap, Kenta sprang forward with speed worthy of the best athletes, bringing down his metal bat with a cloth attached to the handle end, marked with the words "The Strongest"
*BAM*
The impact was so violent that the Serpo targeted by Kenta was thrown mercilessly against the wall, the sound of impact echoing throughout the hallway.
"Huh!?"
"What?!"
"who is this human"
"Human? With that strength!!"
The silence was broken by shocked reactions, both from the aliens and his own subordinates.
'Since when is the boss so strong?'
Akira trembled unconsciously at this inhuman strength demonstrated by Kenta.
Surprisingly, the two sides weren't the only ones who had been surprised by the force generated by the bat.
'Damn, was it that simple to get closer to Seiko's level?!'
Kenta had never used the power of words on an object as a weapon before, since he generally relied on his fists since his reincarnation.
Thus, he had never taken into account humanity's unconscious faith in weapons.
Yet, that was the key and the second difference between him and Seiko in applying the power of words in a fight.
'If I'm this strong, then can I really beat this guy?'
This idea slowly germinated in Kenta's mind as he observed the two Serpos holding Momo Ayase's body.
"Barbarian human, how dare you attack us!!!"
"Yes, we are in the middle of a cultural exchange."
The tone of the two Serpos sounded unpleasant to the ears, but their words weren't really Kenta's priority.
He was in full "personal reflection" mode, deciding the aliens' fate.
This attitude just increased the Serpos' animosity, who finally attacked.
BOOM
What's it like to take a direct psychic attack?
The answer is:
'Shit, I feel like I've been hit by a wall,' he thinks as he leaves the wall, which now bears the engraved silhouette of his back.
If he hadn't had an extremely strong physique thanks to the Saitama method, he really could have died there.
Any idea of winning this fight was instantly driven from Kenta's mind, and he returned to the basic plan.
"Akira!!!" he shouted as he got up with difficulty, using his metal bat for support.
"Yes!!!" Akira's voice was accompanied by hurried footsteps.
His subordinates all rushed to form a barrier in front of Kenta, but anyone could see their legs trembling in the slightly dark hallway.
'Despite their delinquent origins, they're just kids in the end... *sigh*'
"I don't need you here. Pick up that guy and hide him until I get back," ordered Kenta before positioning himself in front of his men.
"B... boss..." the emotional voice of the bald guy and Akira resonated behind him, but he didn't care.
This decision was purely based on logic and not a cliché sacrifice.
Given the psychic strength of the aliens, these kids risked dying in one hit and at best ending up comatose.
Kenta realized that he had underestimated the Serpos and, surprisingly, himself.
'They need to take the unconscious Serpo away and keep him locked up, while I hold these ones off.'
The option to save Momo was officially abandoned; he just needed to buy time and find a way to escape safely.
"Cursed human, you covet the body of us Serpos!!!" shouted a Serpo, making a strange gesture toward Kenta's subordinates who were picking up the unconscious Serpo.
"Not this time!" declared Kenta, swinging his metal bat into the empty space in front of Akira and the bald one.
An explosion echoed in the void.
"Haha, I'm amazing."
Involuntarily, Kenta sketched a predatory smile as the reflection of his glasses gleamed.
'He's uglier than usual human males...'
Fortunately for them, the two Serpos' thoughts were unknown to Kenta.
'I understand now, psychic force depends on their viewing angle and the final direction of their hands.'
Thanks to this, Kenta could guess where the psychic energy invisible to his eyes would be exerted.
He was secretly happy that their telekinesis wasn't at Mob or Tatsumaki's level.
"We Serpos think that was just luck."
Despite his words, it was clear they had been caught off guard by the failure.
"Stop hanging around here!!!" shouted Kenta, looking behind him to find no trace of his subordinates.
'I'll have to work on their loyalty after this... or simply replace them.'
Despite these thoughts, Kenta continued to brandish his metal bat and smash it against invisible psychic attacks.
This eventually created a stalemate between the two sides.
On one side, the Serpos were getting tired from using too much psychic energy, and on the other, Kenta, with hands covered in blisters from blocking enormous force with his metal bat.
'At this rate, Granny Turbo will show up here...'
If he were in shape, Kenta would be confident against cursed Okarun.
Unfortunately, that's not the case.
He's exhausted and injured... and so are the Serpos!!!
All this risks derailing the canon too negatively and even putting his life in danger.
"...Ok, guys, I have a proposal," he said between breaths.
"Why should we Serpos listen to this barbarian human?"
"Indeed, why?"
Kenta frowned, but his new life is more important than his personal pride, and he doesn't plan to lose it stupidly.
"I'll release your companion tomorrow right here and, in exchange, nobody meddles in anyone else's business."
He gave up on alien technology, but he could still force the Serpo to help him with his goal:
Obtaining psychic powers!!
Kenta cast a somewhat sorry glance toward Momo, who seemed about to wake up at any moment.
'Sorry, I'm not a hero... and saving you wasn't part of the plan to begin with anyway.'
The two Serpos looked at each other before following his gaze to Momo and returning their attention to Kenta in front of them.
"Agreed, but we keep the human, and our companion must not have suffered serious injuries."
"This human is important to us Serpos."
Kenta nodded before leaving without lowering his guard.
He was frustrated having to negotiate with these aliens, but he had no choice.
'...the weak have never had that luxury.'
