Chapter 161: Chapter 161: Merus
Beerus watched Broly intently, his eyes narrowing with expectation. He had seen the potential in the Saiyan and believed Broly could easily step into the role of God of Destruction if he accepted the offer.
"Thank you for the opportunity, Lord Beerus," Broly replied, his voice steady. "But I think I'll pass."
Beerus's expression darkened, his teeth grinding in frustration. "Another Saiyan refusing me?!" he muttered to himself, barely keeping his composure. His patience with the Saiyan race was wearing thin.
Whis descended gracefully from the palace, holding his staff. "Lord Beerus, is everything all right?" he asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Yeah yeah," Beerus replied curtly, his tone sharp.
Whis didn't seem convinced but chose not to press further. "Lemo has prepared a meal, Lord Beerus," he announced.
The tension evaporated as Beerus's ears perked up. "Food? Well, let's go!" he said, immediately flying toward the palace.
"Shall we join them?" Whis asked, turning to Goku, Vegeta, and Broly.
The three Saiyans nodded and followed Beerus eagerly.
Universe 7: Galactic Prison
The Galactic Prison, home to Universe 7's most dangerous criminals, was a fortress of security. Guarded by elite Galactic Patrolmen, the entire planet functioned as a maximum-security facility.
Deep within its confines sat a prisoner in a dark cell—a man with blue skin, curved horns, and a long white beard. His name was Moro, a being whose power had once threatened the gods themselves.
Ten million years ago, Moro had fought against the Grand Supreme Kai and South Supreme Kai. Though his destructive magic devastated entire galaxies, he was ultimately defeated. The Grand Kai sealed Moro's magic using the Magic Wave, depleting much of his divine power in the process.
Sentenced to death, Moro's immense strength rendered execution impossible. Instead, his sentence was commuted to life imprisonment. Now, with his life nearing its end, Moro's body was frail, and his resentment burned brighter than ever.
Sitting on the cold floor of his cell, Moro's mind seethed with hatred. He refused to die without exacting revenge on the Grand Kai. But his confinement left him powerless, with no means to escape—until today.
A newly assigned Galactic Patrolman approached Moro's cell, his movements cautious. The jingling keys on the patrolman's belt immediately caught Moro's attention.
The prisoner's eyes gleamed with dark intent. "If I can just get those keys…" he thought, formulating a plan.
The patrolman stood outside the cell, glancing at Moro's weakened frame. "Are you Moro?" he asked, his tone hesitant.
Moro responded with a sinister laugh, raising his right hand. A sudden suction force pulled the patrolman against the cell bars, rendering him helpless. Before the guard could react, Moro gripped his neck and drained his energy, leaving him lifeless.
With the keys now in hand, Moro unlocked his cell and stepped into freedom. He moved swiftly through the prison, releasing another inmate: Cranberry, a deserter from Frieza's army.
Alarms blared across the Galactic Prison as news of Moro's escape spread. Patrolmen mobilized, determined to recapture the notorious prisoner. But Moro and Cranberry had already left the facility, vanishing into the vastness of space.
Moro and Cranberry landed on Planet Namek three days later. Their goal was clear: to collect the Dragon Balls and restore Moro's youth and magic.
"Cranberry, will these Dragon Balls will truly restore my power?" Moro asked, his voice laced with suspicion.
"Of course!" Cranberry replied confidently.
Over the next three days, Moro attacked six Namekian villages, taking the Dragon Balls and mercilessly killing the assimilated Namekian warriors who tried to stop him. Only one Dragon Ball remained to complete their collection.
Earth: West City, Bulma's House
Back on Earth, Goku, Vegeta, and Broly enjoyed a feast at Bulma's home.
"This is delicious!" Goku said between bites, his enthusiasm palpable.
The others nodded in agreement, savoring the meal. But their tranquility was interrupted by the arrival of a small spacecraft.
The craft descended rapidly, landing near Bulma's home. From it emerged Jaco, the Galactic Patrolman, looking frantic.
"Jaco!" Bulma greeted, rushing over to meet him.
Ignoring pleasantries, Jaco hurried toward Goku. "Goku, we've got a serious problem! Moro has escaped from prison!"
"Moro?" Goku asked, his expression turning serious.
"He's a powerful criminal. We couldn't execute him because of his strength, so he was sentenced to life imprisonment," Jaco explained. "We need your help to capture him!"
"Is he strong?" Goku asked.
"Incredibly strong," Jaco confirmed. "And according to our intelligence, he's currently on Namek."
"Namek?" Goku's eyes widened. "Don't tell me he's after the Dragon Balls!"
"That's exactly what we fear," Jaco said.
Goku turned to Vegeta and Broly. "Are you two coming?"
Vegeta smirked. "Of course."
Broly nodded silently, his demeanor calm but resolute.
Planet Namek
On Namek, Moro and Cranberry located the final Dragon Ball. Using Frieza's advanced technology, Cranberry controlled a Namekian elder, forcing him to summon Porunga, the Namekian dragon.
The sky darkened, and Porunga appeared, towering over the landscape.
Moro made his wishes: first, to restore his youth, and second, to regain the full extent of his magical powers.
"Your wishes have been granted," Porunga declared, his deep voice echoing.
With his youth and power restored, Moro turned to Cranberry, a sinister smile on his face.
"You've had your wishes. The last one is mine, right?" Cranberry asked, his voice trembling.
Moro sneered. "A deal with an ant like you? Foolish."
Before Cranberry could react, Moro raised his finger, firing a purple ray that pierced Cranberry's chest. The deserter fell lifeless to the ground as Moro scoffed.
"Negotiating with me… laughable," Moro muttered, turning his attention to the controlled Namekian. He used the final wish to ensure his magic would never again be sealed.
As Porunga vanished, the Dragon Balls turned to stone and scattered across Namek. Moro's laughter echoed as he envisioned his revenge against the Grand Kai.
Just as Moro reveled in his newfound strength, a Galactic Patrol spaceship descended from the sky.
From it emerged Merus, a Galactic Patrol elite. His purple skin and mushroom-like head gave him an unassuming appearance, but his reputation as one of the strongest Patrolmen preceded him.
Merus landed gracefully in front of Moro, his eyes narrowing as he sized up the opponent.
"Galactic Patrol…" Moro growled, the smile fading from his face.
