Chapter 182: Chapter 182: Cell MAX
Shortly after Gamma 2 left, a figure emerged slowly from behind a large rock near the deep pit.
It was Piccolo.
Dusting himself off, Piccolo glared in the direction Gamma 2 had flown. Without a word, he began to follow the android from a distance. His movements were quiet and deliberate, ensuring he wasn't detected.
After a lengthy pursuit, Piccolo arrived at a massive factory on the outskirts of West City. The towering structure loomed ominously, its walls painted in dark, industrial tones.
"Is this their base?" Piccolo muttered to himself, his sharp eyes scanning the perimeter.
Steeling himself, Piccolo snuck inside after Gamma 2.
Inside the factory, Gamma 2 landed before three individuals. One of them was a short, rotund man in a white lab coat—Dr. Hedo, the creator of Gamma 2.
Standing beside Dr. Hedo was a middle-aged man of average height, dressed in a red suit over a black shirt with a gold chain around his neck. His slicked-back hair and mustache gave him an air of arrogance. This was Magenta, the son of the infamous Commander Red, the former commander of the Red Ribbon Army who was defeated by Goku.
The third figure was a tall, thin man with glasses, sporting a hairstyle eerily similar to Whis. Dressed in a red suit and leather shoes, he exuded an aura of calm efficiency. This was Carmine, Magenta's loyal driver and confidant.
Gamma 2 approached the trio, his landing punctuated by the faint hum of servos.
"How did it go?" Magenta asked impatiently, his sharp tone cutting through the air before Dr. Hedo could speak.
"It's done," Gamma 2 replied confidently.
"And the body?" Magenta pressed.
"Destroyed beyond recognition."
Magenta's expression faltered briefly, a flicker of doubt crossing his face. But he held his tongue. He still needed Dr. Hedo's expertise to complete his grand ambition—rebuilding the Red Ribbon Army and using Cell MAX to rule the world.
At that moment, another robot entered the scene. Dressed in a yellow uniform with a red cape and bearing the same Red Ribbon emblem, this android was nearly identical to Gamma 2, save for the red number "1" emblazoned on its chest.
This was Gamma 1, another creation of Dr. Hedo. Unlike Gamma 2's carefree and impulsive nature, Gamma 1 was composed and pragmatic.
"Gamma 2, you're back," Gamma 1 greeted coolly.
Gamma 2 nodded. "Mission accomplished."
Piccolo, hidden behind a stack of cement pipes, narrowed his eyes as he eavesdropped on the conversation. His suspicions about the factory were confirmed.
Quietly, he incapacitated a worker and extracted information about the facility. Satisfied with what he'd learned, Piccolo slipped away unnoticed.
West City, Capsule Corporation
Piccolo arrived at Bulma's home to relay what he had discovered.
"Dr. Hedo?" Bulma repeated, sipping her coffee thoughtfully.
"That's the name I overheard," Piccolo confirmed.
Bulma nodded. "Dr. Hedo is Dr. Gero's grandson. He was arrested years ago for stealing corpses but was released recently. It seems he picked up where his grandfather left off."
Piccolo's frown deepened. "These androids are strong, but I can handle them if I go all out."
"Then why not bring Goten and Trunks along? They've been playing heroes lately," Bulma suggested with a smirk.
"Heroes?"
"Yeah, they call themselves the One Punch Men," Bulma replied, suppressing a chuckle.
Piccolo sighed and turned to leave. "I'll think about it."
Bulma watched him fly off, shaking her head. "He's just like Goku," she muttered.
Mount Paozu, Gohan's Home
Gohan was typing furiously on his laptop when a familiar tapping sound came from the window. Turning, he spotted a green figure hovering outside.
"Uncle Piccolo!" Gohan exclaimed, opening the window.
Piccolo entered, his expression stern. "Gohan, you've been neglecting your training."
"I know, Uncle Piccolo, but I'm swamped with work right now. I promise to get back to it when I have time," Gohan said, scratching his head sheepishly.
Piccolo sighed. The young boy who once defeated Cell was now a busy academic. "Fine. Do what you need to do. I'll find Goten instead."
At Goku's house, Piccolo explained the situation to Goten.
"Androids?" Goten asked, intrigued.
Piccolo nodded. "I heard you and Trunks are into this hero business. Do you want to join me in destroying Cell MAX?"
"What about Trunks?" Goten asked.
Piccolo shrugged. "If you want him along, go ahead."
Goten teleported to Capsule Corporation and quickly found Trunks.
"Goten! What's up?" Trunks greeted.
"Uncle Piccolo was attacked by androids today. We're going to take down their lair. Want to join?"
"Absolutely!" Trunks replied eagerly.
Using Instant Transmission, Goten brought Trunks back to his house, where Piccolo was waiting.
"Uncle Piccolo!" Trunks greeted.
Piccolo nodded. "Let's get moving."
Before they departed, Goten and Trunks donned their superhero costumes.
Piccolo sighed. "Do you really need those outfits?"
Trunks grinned. "We can't risk revealing our identities!"
"Fine," Piccolo relented.
At the Factory
The trio arrived stealthily at the factory, but their presence was quickly noticed. Workers emerged, startled by the intruders.
"Who are you?" one of them demanded.
Trunks stepped forward confidently. "We are heroes who do it for fun—One Punch Men!"
"One Punch Men!"
Some workers recognized the duo from news reports and murmured among themselves.
"They're the righteous heroes!"
As the commotion grew, Piccolo crossed his arms, muttering, "This is going to be a long day."
