Demon Slayer: The Tenth Hashira with Dōjutsu

Chapter 80: DSWS: Chapter 80

"Yoshiwara, Peace Restored"

"I hate it here! This place is awful! Where are we?" Ume complained, like a child. "I want to leave. Find a way out!"

"You look…" Gyutaro stared at Ume, her human form restored, momentarily stunned. Memories of their human lives flooded back.

After a moment of silence, Gyutaro started walking.

Ume followed immediately, asking eagerly, "Is that the exit?"

"Don't follow me," Gyutaro said, pushing her away.

"Wh-why?" Ume asked, confused. "Wait… I…"

"Don't follow me!" Gyutaro roared, startling Ume. She covered her mouth, tears welling up.

"Are you still angry about earlier?" Ume pleaded, watching Gyutaro walk away.

"I apologize. Please forgive me."

"I didn't think badly of you, brother! I was just… frustrated. I hated losing! I didn't want to admit it was my fault!"

"I'm sorry. I couldn't handle them. If I were stronger, we wouldn't have lost. I kept holding you back. I'm so sorry! I'm sorry, brother!"

Gyutaro stopped, but didn't turn around.

"We're not siblings anymore. I'm going this way. You go the opposite direction, towards the light."

Stunned, Ume couldn't hold back. She ran to Gyutaro, ignoring his rebuke, throwing herself into his arms.

"No! No! I don't want to be separated! I absolutely refuse!" Tears streamed down her face. "I want to be with you always! No matter how many times we're reborn, I want to be your sister, always!"

"Don't hate me. Don't resent me. Don't leave me alone! Or I won't forgive you! It's so unfair! We promised to always be together! Did you forget our promise?!"

"Did you forget?!"

Suddenly, Gyutaro remembered a scene: snow falling, young Gyutaro and Ume huddled together in a makeshift nest of grass, Ume held close to his body for warmth, while he endured the biting cold.

Then, he couldn't bear it any longer. He lifted Ume onto his back and turned towards a brighter place.

In reality, his head crumbled to dust.

Watching the dust drift away on the breeze, Tanjiro felt a pang of sadness. "Did they reconcile?"

"It's over. I'm exhausted."

Nezuko approached, supporting Aoki.

"Feeling sorry for them?" Aoki asked, looking at Tanjiro, who knelt on the ground, lost in thought.

"Aren't you, too, senpai? I can smell it," Tanjiro replied.

Aoki said, "Yes, I feel sorry for them. But not for the Upper Moon Six who slaughtered countless innocents.

I feel sorry for the humans they once were. Becoming demons wasn't their choice. They were forced into it, right?"

Tanjiro nodded, a weary yet relieved smile spreading across his face. "Yes, that's right. After all, senpai, you're always right. This battle was terrible, but at least we won."

Ding!

"Congratulations, host, on defeating a member of the Twelve Kizuki! Combat power increased by 1000 points!"

"Total combat power: 4456 points!"

"Overall Assessment: A+ class!"

The system notification echoed. Defeating an Upper Moon had increased his combat power by a thousand points, a shocking increase. His combat power of 4456 had surpassed the standards of a Hashira, exceeding some Hashira.

Ding!

"Host has defeated a member of the Twelve Kizuki. A reward is now being issued!"

Four reward options appeared in Aoki's mind.

[Acquire a new skill]

[Susanoo upgrade (0/2)]

[Mangekyō Sharingan upgrade (1/2)]

[Acquire a new weapon]

Unlike before, Aoki didn't hesitate. He chose a new weapon. His Nichirin Blades had broken three times since his fight with Sanemi Shinazugawa, each time facing an Upper Moon, the last one shattered by Nezuko's kick.

He needed a durable weapon, one capable of withstanding an Upper Moon's attacks.

Ding!

"Reward selection complete. Now introducing the selected reward."

Demon Blade—Yōgetsu:

Type: Weapon

Origin: Original

Weapon Description: A Yōtō-series weapon. The blade is incredibly sharp, indestructible, and enhances the host's skills.

Aoki fell silent, though he wanted to complain, he realized he had no grounds to do so.

"Fine. Whatever."

"Hmph. Upper Moon Six, the weakest of the Upper Moons. Still an Upper Moon. Congratulations, I guess. Even though you're number Six, I can compliment you."

Meanwhile, Iguro Obanai, the Serpent Hashira, arrived, hearing the full story from Tengen Uzui, delivering a sarcastic commentary.

For some reason, seeing Iguro Obanai's unpleasant face, Tengen Uzui felt an urge to slap him.

Seeing Tengen Uzui's battered state, Iguro Obanai couldn't resist his venomous remarks. "So pathetic.

Just one fight with an Upper Moon Six, and you're this wrecked? And Aoki killed the Upper Moon Six? Can I say you're useless?"

Tengen Uzui sighed. "I'll retire. I can't fight anymore. The Master will understand."

He'd planned to retire before coming to the Yoshiwara. He'd been in the Demon Slayer Corps for a long time, one of the oldest Hashira.

Perhaps due to age and declining strength, he'd decided to retire after this incident, if he survived.

But Iguro Obanai immediately rejected his request.

"Are you kidding me? I won't allow it. Too many young slayers have died already. Having you is better than nothing.

Upper Moons are becoming more active, and they're incredibly strong. A single Upper Moon Six nearly killed you, Shinobu, and Aoki—three Hashira."

"No," Tengen Uzui countered. "There are young slayers growing stronger. Your least favorite kind of young slayers."

Iguro Obanai paused, surprised.

"Wait, did he survive? Did Tanjiro Kamado survive this battle?"
