Chapter 196: The truth.
It was too much for Sasha and she needed a few minutes for herself to process it. She finally understood why the Demon Princesses existed but not Asmond, and how Lillith, Edith, and those who came to Earth still existed. She also found out why the Gods wanted Mykel dead, and the fact he destroyed the novel world and the main character that was supposed to be the one who saved the world.
"Is that why you challenged Mara?" Sasha asked as she held her head because she had a headache.
"Yes. I turned the supporting characters, the important Gods that played huge roles in the novel to my side. I subdued everything that tried to get in my way," Mykel answered as he watched Asmond eating his own hands and arms. Read new chapters at empire
"But why? Why would you do that? Even if you despise the story, why would you go that far?" Sasha asked and frowned.
"I'm not a pathetic loser who thinks everything that I had in this world is real," Mykel answered. "This is nothing but a fake world. I didn't want this, and no matter how fucked my life had become in the real world, that place is the real world, and I want to go back to that world," Mykel explained as he stared at Sasha.
"I didn't ask for this, and it was you who wanted to be in this world, not me," Mykel said as he stood in front of Sasha. "What happened that day, Sasha? Why I was the one who got dragged here?" Mykel asked with a serious expression.
Sasha looked around and anxious that Lucifer would come and grab her out of nowhere. She didn't want something to happen since Lucifer started to use force and violence to get what he wanted.
"You'll be safe here as long as you're with me," Mykel assured her since he could read her expression like an open book.
"Where was I when I told you about what happened?" Sasha asked and unconsciously got closer to Mykel because she felt safe around him after knowing what he was capable of.
"You wished that you entered the novel world," Mykel answered.
"Yes. When I had that thought, the angel came back into my dream, and he knew the suffering that I felt. He could tell what I was worried about, and lastly, he told me about my wish," Sasha explained as she furrowed her eyebrows as she tried to remember. "At that moment, I spoke to him and said that I wanted it to end. I wanted to be somewhere else, somewhere that nobody would know me," Sasha continued.
Mykel looked at Sasha's hands which started to tremble, and he had no idea what had happened to her. He then held her hands, and that was enough to make Sasha sigh with relief. He decided to bring her somewhere else, a place where she could feel at ease and safe.
He brought her to the Kastihel World, and she knew immediately where she was. She looked at people walking around, talking and laughing peacefully. He then brought her to the Medelha Castle, and the moment they entered the castle, they were welcomed by a familiar song.
"The Swan song. You remembered," Sasha said with her eyes closed to enjoy the song.
"This is our favorite song, so of course I remember," Mykel answered and watched people walk around.
"What happened to this place? This place is supposed to be empty," Sasha asked.
"I just want to see how this world looks like during their peaceful time. Not everything that I touched would break or be destroyed, some were preserved and rebuilt. Only places that I have a fond memory of," Mykel answered. "Come, let's hear them play from up close, under the Aon Tree," Mykel said as he offered his hand to Sasha.
Sasha couldn't stop smiling and it felt like she was in a dream, something that she never thought she could have. She then stood among the crowds, watching Delenise and his wife play the song. Everyone silently watched as they put their hats on their chests to show their admiration for both of them.
"When you cleared this floor, how was it?" Sasha whispered.
"It reminded me of you," Mykel answered as he looked at Sasha's wrist. "Your last moment, the day you were buried. My first regret," Mykel added and stared into Sasha's eyes.
Sasha hummed and she didn't know how to react because on one side she was feeling guilty, on the other side, she was happy and sad at the same time to see Mykel regret it. She could only hold Mykel's hand so tightly and tried to comfort him even though she didn't know if Mykel needed it or not.
Mykel only glanced at his hand being squeezed tightly and he only scoffed quietly.
"He offered me to grant my wish," Sasha said. "I'm talking about when I told him about leaving and living a life where nobody knows me," Sasha continued.
"I was happy to hear that and I didn't think twice and accepted his offer because I was dreaming," Sasha said with a troubled expression. "I didn't know that was the countdown of my death," Sasha continued.
"He asked you to kill yourself to grant your wish?" Mykel asked.
"No. It was quite the opposite," Sasha shook her head. "He wanted me to sacrifice the source of my suffering, and that was you," Sasha looked at Mykel and frowned.
Mykel furrowed his eyebrows and he never thought that was how it was supposed to be.
"When I heard about it, I didn't know what to do and decided that I don't want it anymore," Sasha said. "But I already accepted his offer, and that was when things started to get worse. The nightmares I had was nothing compared to what I experienced. I kept dreaming of killing you every time I went to sleep. I did all kinds of things that made me sick and afraid to go to sleep," Sasha continued.
"That happened for a few days and I could no longer differentiate between reality and dream," Sasha stared blankly at the tree with her eyebrows raised. "Do you still remember that night? When you came home late and you were so drunk?" Sasha asked and looked at Mykel.
"How could I not forget about that? You were on top of me while holding a knife and you looked me dead in the eye," Mykel answered. "If I didn't wake up at that moment, do you think I will be still alive right now?" Mykel asked and looked at Sasha.
"No, at that moment I was going to kill you because you reek of someone else's perfume more than the alcohol you drank. I was ready to kill you back then because of that, but when you looked me in the eye with that cold expression, I realized that I wasn't dreaming. You didn't beg for your life like in my dreams, you didn't show any fear like in my dreams, and you didn't even lie that you love me like in my dreams. You just menacingly stared me in the eye like how you always did," Sasha answered.
"Yes, because of that I left you and didn't come back for a week. When I came back, you already killed yourself," Mykel said as he looked at Delenise playing a different song. "During that time, what happened to you?" Mykel asked.
"I lived in my own nightmares, and it was the longest week that I have experienced because you left me and I was alone," Sasha answered with a troubled expression.
"Is that the reason why you killed yourself? To end your suffering?" Mykel asked and he didn't look concerned or show any guilt about it at all.
"No, Mykel. I didn't kill myself because I want to," Sasha answered as she shook her head and showed her serious expression. "I was dragged, forced, and possessed by that same angel until I ended up in the bathtub, slitting my own wrist as I was forced to watch and feel the pain," Sasha pointed out with tears slowly covering the bottom of her eyes.
"Are you telling the truth?" Mykel asked.
"You know me. Do you think I can lie in front of you?" Sasha asked back with tears falling down her chin. "Why would I want to see you again if I kill myself to end my suffering from you?" Sasha added.
Mykel gently stroked Sasha's hair, and even though he could see that Sasha's expression was genuine, he didn't want to just take her words. He needed to see the truth with his own two eyes, or from the eyes of the people he trusted.
"If that's the case, I think I have another reason to kill him now," Mykel said with a serious expression.
