Chapter 234: [234] Movies Are So Fascinating!

Chapter 234: Movies Are So Fascinating!

The story of Goblin Slayer began to play in the Southern Territory border camp.

Although most of the soldiers initially looked down on this new creation born of magic, they couldn't help but be drawn into the content on the screen.

Tap! Tap! Tap!

Accompanied by the sound of footsteps echoing in the darkness, the screen revealed the shadowy figure of the Goblin Slayer, clad in dirty armor. At that moment, every soldier's attention was instinctively captured.

Even Captain Brando's previously nonchalant expression began to shift, growing more serious.

"Is this some sort of recording?"

Josen's curiosity broke the silence, prompting Durin to smile and reply:

"It's a method of using magic to record visuals. But don't worry, the content is entirely fictional and doesn't have much to do with the real world."

"I see."

Josen nodded with understanding and, like the other soldiers, began to watch the story of Goblin Slayer unfold.

After the eerie figure clad in grimy armor appeared, the screen brightened, transitioning to a lively adventurer's guild in a bustling town.

Young adventurers, full of dreams and aspirations, embarked on their journeys to slay goblins, hoping to take their first step toward becoming heroes.

When the composition of the four-person adventuring party was shown, Captain Brando's expression visibly shifted. He turned to Daphne, who was standing beside Durin, and exclaimed in surprise:

"Wait, why are you in this?"

Caught off guard, Daphne looked flustered and awkwardly lowered her head, unsure of how to respond.

Durin, however, calmly explained, "Daphne is one of the top actors in our studio. She played a major role in the production of Goblin Slayer and stars as the movie's heroine."

"Heroine?" Brando raised an eyebrow, his tone a mix of surprise and curiosity.

Brando, surprised by this revelation, paused for a moment before ultimately nodding in resignation.

At the same time, the four-person party on the screen, full of youthful innocence and enthusiasm, embarked on their first adventure.

Watching the adventurers' naive and reckless demeanor, many soldiers were reminded of their own first experiences on the battlefield.

They couldn't help but feel a growing anticipation for the fate of these rookie adventurers.

However, their expressions quickly changed as the goblins in the cave proved to be far more cunning and vile than anyone could have imagined.

The inexperienced young adventurers stood no chance against the grotesque and malevolent creatures, and they were soon subjected to brutal and inhumane treatment.

In the blink of an eye, the four adventurers who had confidently charged into the goblin's cave were reduced to two dead and one gravely injured.

Only a blonde priestess managed to escape, battered and barely alive.

"How could this happen?"

"They were just too young and inexperienced."

"This is awful… Such a young girl, treated so horribly by those monsters…"

"Isn't there anyone who can save them?"

"..."

The soldiers couldn't help but voice their shock and outrage, their discussions filled with empathy and anger.

Many of them wished they could leap into the story themselves to rescue the poor, inexperienced adventurers.

However, a story remains just a story. The blonde priestess was ultimately caught by the filthy, grotesque goblins, on the verge of suffering the same horrific fate as the other female adventurers.

Watching this unfold, Durin noticed the oppressive aura radiating from Captain Brando beside him. The sheer intensity of it made Durin instinctively take a step back.

Just as the tension reached an unbearable peak and everyone struggled to watch the young, innocent girl face impending doom, faint footsteps suddenly echoed from the other end of the cave.

Tap! Tap! Tap!

A faint flicker of light emerged, slicing through the darkness like a blade and illuminating the screen. The hearts of every soldier in the camp instantly tightened with anticipation.

"Who's that guy?"

"Didn't we see him briefly at the beginning?"

"Is he a friend? Or an enemy?"

"..."

Under the soldiers' tense and curious gazes, the Goblin Slayer made his first full appearance. With a sudden, explosive burst of speed, he dispatched all the goblins chasing the blonde priestess in the blink of an eye.

His movements were precise, efficient, and utterly ruthless, far beyond anything the soldiers had expected.

Even the imperial soldiers stationed in the farthest reaches of the southern territory, who frequently faced monstrous beasts in the untamed lands, were awestruck.

They couldn't imagine themselves executing such swift and skilled combat against goblins, creatures known for their cunning and trickery.

Of course, this was partly due to their experience being more focused on combating massive beasts, leaving them relatively unprepared for dealing with smaller, more agile foes like goblins.

In short, as the Goblin Slayer suddenly appeared and saved the blonde priestess, every soldier let out a genuine sigh of relief.

They soon realized that, without noticing, they had become completely engrossed in the story.

Their earlier disdain for the movie and the magical craft behind it had entirely vanished.

"This is amazing. The movie is called Goblin Slayer, right? So, this rugged yet highly skilled man must be the protagonist?"

Josen's comment reflected how quickly he had embraced the movie. Compared to Captain Brando, Josen seemed far more open to this new form of entertainment.

Meanwhile, Captain Brando watched the Goblin Slayer on screen with a dissatisfied expression.

Although he said nothing, Durin couldn't shake the feeling that Brando was annoyed—not because of the story itself, but because it wasn't him saving Daphne in the movie.

Instead, this mysterious man was stealing the spotlight.

Subtly, Durin began to suspect that Captain Brando might have a touch of sibling protectiveness… or outright possessiveness.

As the soldiers completely abandoned their earlier skepticism and immersed themselves in the movie, the pacing of the story picked up dramatically.

The Goblin Slayer displayed his mastery as he exterminated every goblin in the cave, sparing none—not even the younglings.

He delivered the grim line, "The only good goblin is a goblin that never shows itself," before methodically killing the goblin younglings without hesitation.

This unapologetically raw depiction of the conflict between species, filled with battlefield-like brutality and unflinching violence, captivated every soldier present.

After all, stationed in the Empire's southernmost region, these border guards faced relentless and grueling battles day and night.

The movie's raw intensity resonated deeply with their own harsh reality, pulling them even further into the story.

They had experienced despair, fear, and the loss of comrades on the battlefield...

This made it easy for them to connect with Goblin Slayer, finding themselves deeply immersed in the story and forgetting everything they had said earlier.

"This thing called a movie is truly fascinating!"

This thought became the shared sentiment of nearly every soldier present!
