Disaster Apocalypse: Farming, Family, and My Hidden Secret Space

Chapter 400: 400. Hua Jin arrives

The big Liu Gouzi naturally understood and nodded quickly.

"Uncle Qin, don't worry, we won't," said Liu.

"Okay," Qin Dagen nodded. "By the way, there's water in the jar outside the kitchen, you can use it," he added after some thought.

After all, they had just arrived, and he didn't know if this group of children had any water, so he also told them the location of the village well.

"Thank you, Uncle Qin," Liu smiled slightly, this time a sincere expression of gratitude.

Being willing to give them a place to stay and let them use the water was already a rare act of kindness, and they were people who knew gratitude.

They weren't just being polite; although the water they fetched yesterday was used a lot on the journey, there was still more than half left, enough for them to use for two or three days.

Qin Dagen nodded, then returned to the main room with Qin Shu.

Having been exhausted all night, if not for these children suddenly appearing, they would have already been asleep in the cellar by now.

Qin Shu supported his father's caution, although these were the kids saved by Hua Jin, they would wait for her to come before discussing anything further.

Meanwhile, the group of Liu Gouzi children heaved a sigh of relief as they saw the door to the main house shut.

Looking at the spacious woodhouse, their initial nervousness subsided, replaced by joy, as they finally found a temporary resting place and no longer needed to walk endlessly.

"Big brother Liu," Hua'er and Wan'er looked up at Liu with bright eyes.

"Since we're here, we might as well make ourselves comfortable. Since this is Hua Village, let's stay for now. Hua'er, let's quickly make something to eat, then take turns sleeping."

Once asleep, they wouldn't feel the heat as much, making the days more bearable.

The children didn't find Liu's occasional incomprehensible phrases abnormal, though they understood the latter part and nodded one after another.

So Caogen and Hua'er Wan'er started preparing food, while Liu Gouzi busied himself unloading the cart and tidying up the empty space in the woodhouse. He used a worn-out tent he had been reluctant to throw away as a drape, adding some privacy to their shelter.

By the time they finished eating and tidying up, an hour had passed, and the sky was fully bright. Although the sun baked even through the thick brick and mud walls, it was still better than outside. Exhausted, the children quickly fell asleep except for those on watch, despite the heat.

Meanwhile, Hua Jin had reached the mountain behind Hua Village. After examining the boulder and finding nothing, she entered her space.

With the sun burning intensely beyond human tolerance, even the help of Qin Shu and his father would be ineffective at this time, so it was better to sleep in the space, eat, and relax before emerging again.

She slept for several hours, her stomach growled upon waking, and so the self-service meal began. There was so much food in the space that Hua Jin was almost overwhelmed by the choice. Feeling satisfied, she digested her meal and went to the fields, methodically using her spiritual power to attend to the tasks in the space.

She watered plants, weeded, and fed the livestock. Over the years, the livestock pens had expanded substantially in the space, even under her deliberate control, otherwise the chickens, ducks, and geese would overrun the place.

As the sun set, Hua Jin exited the space, climbed over the wall, and took out the wooden door from the space before heading to the front of the village.

As she walked and observed the high walls around the village, she couldn't help but marvel, even though it wasn't her first time seeing them. The Qin family was indeed talented.

Hua Jin didn't rush, casually strolling toward the back of the village.

The temperature was still scorching, and Qin's family was likely staying indoors.

However...upon releasing her spiritual power, Hua Jin suddenly widened her eyes upon discovering the extra children at the Qin household.

Those were...Gouzi and the other kids.

Despite leaving their address after a moment of compassion, Hua Jin knew the chances of meeting them again were slim.

Unexpectedly, these children truly found their way here, even bringing along the cart she had given them.

These children...were truly surprising. This realization made Hua Jin pause for a moment before she continued toward the back of the village.

Regardless, Hua Jin admired these kids for finding their way here without missing anyone.

She quickly arrived at the Qin's door. The entire family was industrious. The last time she visited, the house had just been built, but now it was already ready for occupancy.

With their tidy home, Hua Jin's fondness for the Qin family rapidly grew.

What began as a moment of kindness unexpectedly yielded such great returns, something she hadn't foreseen.

"Knock, knock, knock," the Qin's door was knocked upon.

The Qin family had just awakened and were preparing to leave the cellar when they exchanged glances, silently communicating the same thought.

What day was it today, that people would knock on their door twice?

Aside from Hua Jin's first visit, no one else had knocked on their door for a long time.

Could it really be so coincidental?

Qin Shu had a hunch, and bypassed his father to climb up first.

But...besides Hua Jin, who else would come to Hua Village at this time?

Moreover, she was right about on time.

Seeing their son's urgency, both Qin Dagen and Li suddenly realized too and quickly climbed out.

Meanwhile, the kids in the woodhouse, except for the very young ones, had already woken up early.

Upon hearing the door knock, they rushed to the woodhouse door but didn't step forward.

They weren't completely ignorant children; especially big Liu Gouzi, who had experienced so much and understood what was and wasn't appropriate. They understood not to overstep their bounds, knowing they were merely sheltered there.

Despite their eagerness, the Qin family's urgency and the children's curiosity were clear to Hua Jin, who patiently waited outside the door.

Seeing the Qin father and son emerge, Liu Gouzi quickly followed them out of the woodhouse, clearly wanting to help.

Even though their small arms and legs couldn't offer much assistance, their willingness greatly improved Qin Dagen's and Qin Shu's impression of them.

Whether they could help or not was one thing, but their attitude was important.

Glancing at the two children, Qin Dagen said nothing and quickly followed his son.

"Who is it?" Qin Shu asked as he was the first to reach the door.

"It's me." The unhidden sweet voice made Qin Shu's eyes light up, and he quickly opened the door.

"Miss Hua Jin," Qin Shu's voice noticeably brightened.

"Miss Hua Jin, you're here," Qin Dagen happily greeted Hua Jin.

Just as they were thinking, and unexpectedly she appeared. It was truly timely.

"Brother Qin Shu, Uncle Qin, I've repeatedly said to just call me Hua Jin," Hua Jin helplessly repeated, but it seemed futile.

"Okay, Miss Hua Jin," Qin Dagen nodded with a smile.

Shaking her head, Hua Jin gave up.

No one can change what's in someone else's mind, and Uncle Qin's emotions were all too evident.

With a shake of her head, she handed what she was holding to the nearest person, Qin Shu.

"Brother Qin Shu, this is this month's payment."

"No, no, it's too much; you've already given us plenty," Qin Dagen said quickly, even before Qin Shu could speak.
