At the bottom of the pool, Huo Quan seemed to have reached his limit. The previously rhythmic flashes of blue and red light began to flicker more rapidly, with a faint trace of golden light now mingling within.

"It seems it's a success," Ye Wen thought to himself.

If someone were to directly absorb the essences of the lazing Apricot Delicate Herb and the Eight-Trigram Mystic Ice Grass, even a Title Douluo might be poisoned to death.

In the original story, Tang San relied on the extreme lake water of the Ice-Fire Dual Ponds—both internally and externally—to successfully refine these two immortal herbs.

However, this only strengthened Tang San's body and barely improved his soul power or martial soul. Even after the five-year agreement following the tournament, Tang San's soul power didn't surpass the other members of the Seven Monsters by much. Aside from gaining immunity to ice and fire, the results were honestly underwhelming.

Ye Wen wasn't short of other immortal herb essences that could strengthen one's foundation, but using them on Huo Quan's innate martial soul—which was already at level nine—would be mediocre and wasteful.

Inspired by a sudden idea, Ye Wen recalled Du Busi from Douluo II, who also possessed an Body martial soul.

Though he had an innate martial soul, Du Busi transformed himself into a human bomb, which was perplexing.

It wasn't that Du Busi was weak—at least, the Gluttonous Douluo, also at level 98, couldn't match him.

Du Busi's first soul skill was Ten-Thousand Poison Body, and nearly every soul ring afterward carried poison.

The second awakening of an innate martial soul should maximize its inherent characteristics. However, through this unconventional method of adding rings, Du Busi turned his innate martial soul into a terrifying toxic bomb. While Du Busi himself remained unharmed, other martial souls weren't so lucky—it was like a replica of Dugu Bo from Douluo II.

One might even joke that their nicknames were the same: "Old Poison."

In the end, Du Busi became a treasure-giver for the protagonist, handing over both the Body Sect and secret techniques to Huo Yuhao. However, the Body Sect declined afterward, while the Spirit Pagoda thrived. By Douluo III, the Body Sect no longer had any Super Douluos—only slightly better than the Dugu family, at least not completely stripped bare like what Tang San did to them.

Based on Du Bu Si's method of altering his martial soul through external forces, 'Theory of Essence' also mentioned similar concepts—especially since Ye Wen had studied it extensively.

Using the essences of these two extreme-attribute immortal herbs to influence the second awakening of an innate martial soul would likely add ice and fire attributes to an otherwise purely physical enhancement, elevating the super martial soul to another level. Even if it didn't reach the pinnacle of attribute-based martial souls, it wouldn't be a loss, as the foundation of the second awakening of an innate martial soul was already strong.

At this moment, a brilliant golden light erupted from the bottom of the pool, completely overshadowing the blue and red hues.

"Hurry, pull Xiao Quan up!" Ye Wen urged urgently.

Almost simultaneously, A Yin extended her Blue Silver Grass into the pool and pulled the semi-conscious Huo Quan out.

Huo Quan's entire body radiated golden light, resembling a golden-robed arhat from legends. Behind him stood a towering, imposing figure whose mere presence exuded authority without effort.

But soon, Huo Quan's body began to convulse. His once muscular frame visibly shrank before their eyes.

Huo Rui grew anxious.

Ah Yin quickly took out another jade bottle containing the essence of the Eight-Petal Fairy Orchid. In the original story, this immortal herb was given to Oscar. It had the miraculous effect of stabilizing one's foundation and purifying impurities.

Since Huo Quan's aptitude was already exceptional, there was no need to compensate further. The essence of the Eight-Petal Fairy Orchid was specifically prepared to address his current depletion.

Soon, the strange shrinking stopped, and Huo Quan's physique gradually returned to normal.

The previously half-dead Huo Quan slowly opened his eyes. Two beams of red and blue divine light shot out from his pupils, brightening the dim underground space.

"How do you feel, Xiao Quan? What kind of boost has your martial soul given you after the second awakening?" Ye Wen asked gently.

Huo Quan sat up in disbelief, clenching his fists as he said, "It's never felt better! All my attributes have tripled, and because I consumed the essences of two completely different immortal herbs, my martial soul has undergone an attribute mutation. I now possess both extreme fire and extreme ice dual attributes!"

Surprise flashed in Ye Wen's eyes. The Blazing Apricot Delicate Herb and the Eight-Trigram Mystic Ice Grass hadn't yet reached 100,000 years of age, and their essences had been diluted before being given to Huo Quan. According to expectations, they should have only added top-tier soul beast-level ice and fire attributes—not extreme attributes. Could it really have upgraded to such a level? Ye Wen found it hard to believe.

"Release your fire and ice. Let me sense them—I want to confirm you're not mistaken," Ye Wen said.

Huo Quan didn't argue. Ye Wen had always taught him that facts speak louder than words. Standing up, he raised his left hand, which blazed with blood-red flames, and his right hand, which emitted bone-chilling cold. Water droplets on his hands instantly froze into ice and fell to the ground.

The chilling aura reminded Ye Wen of the Extreme North Ice Plains, and this cold was already approaching the intensity of the Snow Empress he had encountered before.

The flames opposing it were no less impressive. Even from several meters away, the sensation of facing a vast, blazing sun was undeniable. At this moment, Huo Quan stood at the center, radiating these two opposing forces, leaving everyone in awe.

"These are indeed extreme ice and extreme fire attributes. Both temperature and pressure are sufficient to crush soul emperors of the same attribute at this stage," Ye Wen declared solemnly.

Then, smiling, he said, "Congratulations, Xiao Quan. You've completed the Gold-level second awakening of your innate martial soul and gained extreme fire and extreme ice attributes. As long as you don't fall in the future, you're guaranteed a place among the continent's peak."

"All thanks to Master's teachings," Huo Quan humbly replied.

"After your sister's second awakening, she renamed her martial soul to Vajra Heart. Now, think of a new name for your martial soul," Ye Wen said.

After a moment of thought, Huo Quan said earnestly, "Let's call it Icefire Golden Body."

Though simple, the name perfectly captured the essence of his new martial soul, and everyone present approved.

After this second awakening, the three strongest disciples had all reached their bottlenecks and needed to hunt for their fourth and fifth soul rings.

Dao Ba's martial soul required a lightning-attribute soul beast, but since they were near the sea, there was no immediate solution. However, the Huo siblings already had a target in mind.
