------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
On the planet Douluo, the vast oceans far exceed the landmass, resulting in sea spirit beasts outnumbering land spirit beasts by hundreds of times. This era saw humans barely developing the seas at all.
Because of this, many rare bloodline spirit beasts that don't exist on land can be found in the ocean. Dragon-type spirit beasts, which are rare on land, are relatively common in the sea if one looks hard enough. However, due to their aquatic environment, only sea soul masters can capture them—other soul masters have no way of doing so.
Even among sea soul masters, the ocean remains dominated by sea spirit beasts because sea soul masters don't fully transform into their martial souls unless they reach the True Body realm.
Moreover, these dragon-type sea spirit beasts are inherently proud. If killed outright, there's no issue, but capturing them alive is another matter entirely. Unless rendered unconscious, they would rather self-destruct than fall into the hands of weaker foes.
Interestingly, the worship of the Sea God in this era bears a striking resemblance to the worship of Mazu in Ye Wen's previous life. Both stem from humanity's fear of the sea and serve as a means of seeking safety.
{T/N: Mazu is a sea goddeass in Chinese folk religion, Chinese Buddhism, Confucianism, and Taoism}
Though the Sea God's influence is less prominent inland, those who rely on the sea for their livelihood often invoke the Sea God's name.
Above a vast expanse of ocean, three young people dressed in sleek outfits stood.
"Master, is that our target—the Mosasaurus?" Huo Rui asked.
Ye Wen nodded slightly and said, "Yes, though these Mosasaurs aren't true dragons, they're among the most powerful of the pseudo-dragons.
Due to their size limitations, nearly all their abilities focus on enhancing their physical attributes, making them an excellent match for your innate martial souls."
At this moment, Huo Quan scratched his head in frustration and said, "But these guys hide underwater. How are we supposed to catch them?"
Ye Wen rolled his eyes at his physically strong but somewhat simple-minded disciple and replied irritably, "You've been by the sea for so long, and you still haven't learned anything about sea spirit beasts?
Though these Mosasaurs are sea spirit beasts, they're mammals, not fish. They lack gills and can't breathe underwater for extended periods, so they must surface periodically to breathe."
Huo Quan smacked his right fist into his left palm, suddenly enlightened. "So Master's plan is to ambush them when they surface to breathe, right? I understand!"
"Normally, the hunting process would indeed follow what you described, but with me here, it doesn't need to be so complicated. Watch closely—"
With that, Ye Wen summoned two square meters of cloth and tossed them into the sea. As if guided by an invisible hand, they quickly reached the exact location beneath two Mosasaurs.
"Third Soul Skill: Void Control!"
The two Mosasaurs—one smaller at twelve meters and the other larger at nearly thirteen meters—were estimated to be 25,000 and 30,000 years old, respectively, according to the records.
"Here they come!" Ye Wen exclaimed.
In an instant, the two unassuming cloths expanded into massive black holes. The moment the voids formed, a powerful suction force pulled both Mosasaurs, along with the surrounding seawater, into the holes.
Above them, two spatial portals appeared, and the massive Mosasaurs tumbled out. The siblings exchanged glances, summoning their Golden Awakening martial souls, which fused with their bodies and unleashed immense power.
But that wasn't all—they simultaneously activated the enhancement skills of their first four soul rings, releasing a force far surpassing that of ordinary Soul Emperors from their quasi-Soul King bodies.
"Steel Style: Exploding Vajra Fist!!! Ora Ora Ora—"
"Steel Style: Bipolar Explosion Fist!!! Haaaa Haaaa Haaaaaaa—"
Pushing their martial souls to their limits and amplifying them with Steel Style enhancements, they ignored normal counter-damage mechanics and unleashed their self-created soul skills with relentless fury.
Huo Rui, bolstered by her Vajra Heart, erupted with overwhelming explosive power, her blood surging throughout her body. For a brief moment, her strength even surpassed Huo Quan's.
Meanwhile, Huo Quan infused his fists with extreme fire and ice attributes, embedding these forces into the Mosasaurs' bodies with every strike. In just the blink of an eye, the once-mighty Mosasaurs were covered in burns and frostbite, their robust forms now battered and broken.
Though Ye Wen had closed the spatial portals immediately, the nearby group of Mosasaurs had already been alerted. Coupled with the siblings' thunderous self-created soul skills, the Mosasaurs quickly spotted Ye Wen and his group, surfacing from the depths.
By this time, Ye Wen and his group had landed on a small, desolate island nearby.
Looking at the younger members of the two clans, now on the brink of death, the mighty 80,000-year-old Mosasaur King—the strongest of its kind—was filled with rage. However, restricted by its size, it couldn't reach the shallow waters where Ye Wen's group stood.
"Roar!!!" A roar filled with anger and hatred reverberated across the ocean.
Ye Wen remained calm. Nature was merciless—it was either kill or be killed, with no room for justice. He could only blame fate that these Mosasaurs had become their targets and were within reach for the hunt.
However, a commotion in the distance caught Ye Wen's attention. Led by the Mosasaur King, over a dozen Mosasaurs opened their mouths wide, aiming directly at them.
A surge of powerful soul energy emanated from their maws, forming glowing blue spheres of soul power.
Seeing this, Ye Wen inwardly cursed. These weren't skills mentioned in any descriptions of Mosasaurs he'd read before.
Upon reflection, it made sense. The sea soul masters Ye Wen knew of were at best Soul Sages. The truly powerful sea soul masters were stationed at the Sea God Island.
An 80,000-year-old Mosasaur King could rival weaker Title Douluo. Ordinary sea soul masters wouldn't survive its attacks, let alone record its abilities—or even attempt to hunt it. It was likely that Ye Wen's group was the first to successfully hunt Mosasaurs.
After all, the Mosasaur was the undisputed ruler of these waters.
For a ruler facing provocation, the best response was naturally retaliation.
In just a few seconds, waves of blue soul-powered energy surged toward them.
But Ye Wen quickly regained his composure. For ordinary soul masters, such attacks required either evasion or defense—but he was no ordinary soul master.
By now, the two young Mosasaurs they'd captured had perished, transforming into two pitch-black soul rings. Ye Wen quickly pulled the Huo siblings behind him.
Activating his third soul skill, he ascended back into the air.
Blocking the attack was impossible—the spatial expansion of his third soul skill had a limit, and the barrage of energy waves far exceeded that threshold. Attempting to absorb and redirect the attack would only damage his martial soul and harm himself.
