All of their attacks landed on the Berserk Demon Bear, and in an instant, a violent surge of energy erupted from the spirit beast. The surrounding grass and smaller trees were torn apart, leaving the area in complete disarray.
"Roar!"
The Berserk Demon Bear let out a pained roar, its body glowing red. The Blue Silver Prison that had trapped it began to expand rapidly.
"Boom!" The vines of the Blue Silver Prison shattered into pieces, revealing the heavily wounded Berserk Demon Bear. Its body had grown larger, and its eyes glowed with a menacing red light.
In its fury, the bear smashed a nearby boulder with its fist and roared at Lin Yongming and the others, its breath reeking of a foul stench.
"We're done for. We've angered it. Let's run!" one of the students trembled, his voice shaking with fear.
"Run!" Another student shouted, already turning to flee as the bear took a step forward.
"Big guy, stop yelling! It's so loud, and your breath stinks!" Blue Silver Emperor complained. As the bear took its first step, the broken Blue Silver vines began to grow rapidly again. With a flash of light from the Blue Silver Grass in her hand, Blue Silver Emperor activated her Blue Silver Prison once more.
"Blue Silver Thorns Array!"
"Unparalleled Thunder Strike!"
Lin Yongming followed up with his own attack, coordinating seamlessly with Blue Silver Emperor.
"Hiss… These two are so strong. And is that really the Blue Silver Grass武魂? It looks so beautiful," one of the female students exclaimed in awe.
"Roar!" The Berserk Demon Bear roared in pain, its wounds bleeding profusely.
Once again, the bear broke free from Blue Silver Emperor's control, but it was now severely injured.
The bear had expended a great deal of energy to break free from the Blue Silver Prison twice, leaving it exhausted and weakened.
However, the stubborn bear still tried to charge forward. Blue Silver Emperor's expression turned serious, and the Blue Silver Grass in her hand glowed with a blue-gold light.
"Little bear, still want to fight? Blue Silver…" Blue Silver Emperor said, as the vines began to grow once more.
The Berserk Demon Bear's eyes suddenly showed a hint of fear. It let out a final roar before turning and fleeing, disappearing into the forest in an instant.
The speed at which it ran away left the three students momentarily stunned.
"A'Yin, thanks to you. I didn't expect your fourth spirit skill, Blue Silver Prison, to be able to control a ten-thousand-year spirit beast," Lin Yongming said, breathing a sigh of relief. After using his abilities, his spirit power was now down to 50%.
"Actually, I could only use it one more time. The third time was just to scare it. That Berserk Demon Bear's strength is no joke. It broke free from my control twice. Thankfully, your attacks followed up in time to deal some damage," Blue Silver Emperor replied, also relieved.
If the bear had charged a third time, Blue Silver Emperor was prepared to grab Lin Yongming and flee.
"Thank you, thank you!" one of the students finally snapped out of his daze and expressed his gratitude.
"Thank you…" the other two girls chimed in as well.
"Let's not talk about that now. The commotion here was too loud. Let's find a safe place to talk," Lin Yongming suggested.
"Okay, okay!"
The three students, still shaken from their near-death experience, followed Lin Yongming and Blue Silver Emperor as they left the area.
After walking a hundred steps, they stopped at a narrow gap between two large boulders.
"This spot seems safe enough. Let's rest here," Lin Yongming said after surveying the surroundings.
Blue Silver Emperor, however, was a bit confused. She couldn't understand why Lin Yongming was suddenly being so polite to the three students.
"Alright," the three students replied, wiping their sweat and sitting down against the rocks.
"So, you're students, right? Why isn't there a teacher with you?" Lin Yongming asked casually.
"Ugh, don't even mention it," the only male student said. "We're students from Purple Star Academy in Heaven Dou City. While searching for spirit beasts, we accidentally ventured too deep into the forest. Our teacher encountered some poisonous mist and was poisoned. Then we ran into the Berserk Demon Bear. Our teacher stayed behind to buy us time to escape."
"Poisonous mist? What level was your teacher? How could they not withstand it?" Lin Yongming asked curiously.
"A level 58 Spirit King. If it weren't for the poison, he might have been able to escape. It's our fault…" the male student replied, his voice filled with guilt.
"Hmm… He was a good teacher, sacrificing himself for his students. Truly admirable," Lin Yongming said sincerely.
"Yes, meeting such a teacher is an honor for any student," Blue Silver Emperor agreed.
"It's our fault… Our teacher…" the support-type female student began to cry softly.
"Sigh… My condolences," Lin Yongming said, sighing as he looked at the three dejected students.
"Where exactly was the poisonous mist? Do you remember? I still need to find a spirit ring, and I'd like to avoid that area," Lin Yongming asked, seizing the opportunity to get the information he wanted.
"It was too dark, so I don't remember the exact location. But it should be to the east of where we were running from. There were about ten huge trees, each around a hundred meters tall," the male student replied after thinking for a moment.
"How long did you run before you met us?" Lin Yongming asked again.
"About half an hour. We were too panicked at the time, so I don't remember clearly," the male student answered.
"Alright, I understand. Thank you," Lin Yongming nodded and stopped asking questions.
"It seems we'll need to go deeper," Lin Yongming thought to himself.
"Well, thank you again for saving us. We'll never forget your kindness. But it's late, and our teacher is gone. We don't dare stay here any longer. My name is Fang Lin. If you ever come to Purple Star Academy, look for us," the male student said, standing up.
"Thank you!" The two girls bowed slightly to Lin Yongming and Blue Silver Emperor.
"No need to be so polite. Be careful on your way out. If you go straight from here, you'll exit the forest," Lin Yongming instructed.
"Alright. We'll meet again if fate allows," the three students said, clasping their fists before disappearing into the darkness.
"Xiao Ming, what's your plan now?" Blue Silver Emperor asked softly.
"A'Yin, let's rest here and recover our spirit power. We'll continue at dawn," Lin Yongming suggested.
"Okay."
The two of them didn't bother setting up a tent again, as it was already late into the night. They simply sat down and began meditating to recover their spirit power.
By the time they woke up, the forest was bathed in a faint white light, signaling that dawn was approaching.
"A'Yin, here," Lin Yongming handed Blue Silver Emperor a bottle of water and some food.
"Thanks," Blue Silver Emperor nodded and accepted the items.
"Let's eat and then continue our search," Lin Yongming said, taking out his own portion.
The two of them ate slowly as the sky gradually brightened. An hour later, they set off again.
Before long, they arrived at the spot where they had encountered the Berserk Demon Bear the previous night. The area was still a mess, and the tent they hadn't had time to pack had been trampled by something.
"It's ruined. What a waste of a good tent," Blue Silver Emperor said, picking up the torn fabric.
"A'Yin, it's fine. We have spare tents," Lin Yongming replied nonchalantly.
"Let's go find your spirit beast," Blue Silver Emperor said with a sigh.
Lin Yongming subtly guided Blue Silver Emperor in the direction where the five of them and the Berserk Demon Bear had left traces the previous night.
In a panic, people and beasts would inevitably leave marks in a dense forest, especially a massive bear like the Berserk Demon Bear.
Following these traces, they were bound to find the poisonous mist.
"Xiao Ming, these marks were left by them, right? Didn't they say there's poisonous mist in this direction? Why are we going there?" Blue Silver Emperor asked, confused.
"It's worth checking out. The commotion they caused might have attracted some spirit beasts, and one of them might be suitable for me," Lin Yongming explained with a serious expression.
"That makes sense, but what if there are too many spirit beasts?" Blue Silver Emperor asked.
"I don't think so. Different types of spirit beasts usually don't allow others to get too close," Lin Yongming replied, scratching his head.
"You're scratching your head. I feel like you're lying," Blue Silver Emperor said skeptically.
"Uh…" Lin Yongming chuckled awkwardly. "My goodness, A'Yin, you're not easy to fool."
"Anyway, let's just go. What if we really find a suitable spirit beast?" Lin Yongming said seriously.
"Alright, alright. I'll listen to you. Your reasoning makes sense, and at least we have a direction now," Blue Silver Emperor said, dropping the subject.
However, she walked ahead of Lin Yongming.
Lin Yongming, following behind, activated his Mind's Eye to its fullest extent. The poisonous mist was nearby, and he couldn't afford to miss it.
After walking for about an hour, they came across a mangled corpse that was barely recognizable.
"Sigh… This must be the teacher from Purple Star Academy," Blue Silver Emperor said with a sigh.
"Probably," Lin Yongming nodded, smelling the fresh blood.
"Let me bury him," Blue Silver Emperor said, using her Blue Silver Grass to dig a grave and bury the body.
After finishing the task, they continued forward.
Suddenly, Lin Yongming stopped. His Mind's Eye detected a surge of energy ahead, accompanied by a thick, toxic aura.
"Finally, the poisonous mist," Lin Yongming thought to himself.
"Xiao Ming, there's a patch of toxic gas ahead. It must be the poisonous mist they mentioned," Blue Silver Emperor said, also noticing the anomaly.
"Is that so? Let's go take a look and see how big the area is," Lin Yongming said, feigning curiosity.
"Alright."
After walking another hundred steps, they saw several massive trees ahead. Behind them was the poisonous mist—a dense, dark green fog that seemed to cling together without dispersing.
Lin Yongming noticed that the mist was at least fifty meters thick. What's more, it blocked spiritual探测. If it weren't for the unique nature of his Mind's Eye, Lin Yongming wouldn't have been able to sense anything within the mist.
"The center of the mist is filled with incredibly dense spiritual energy, especially ice and fire attributes. For someone with low strength, staying here for too long would be disastrous," Lin Yongming thought, sensing the chaotic energy within the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Eye.
"Dark green poisonous mist! How toxic is this? No wonder a level 58 Spirit King fell victim to it," Blue Silver Emperor exclaimed, shocked by the sight.
"And the mist is so strange. It doesn't disperse. If it did, it would be a disaster for all life in the Sunset Forest. Only poison-type spirit beasts could survive here," Blue Silver Emperor added.
Lin Yongming, however, stepped closer to the mist, stopping about twenty meters away.
"Xiao Ming, it's dangerous!" Blue Silver Emperor quickly followed. "Are you trying to get yourself killed? Don't get so close."
"A'Yin, the mist really doesn't seem to spread. The teacher from Purple Star Academy must have accidentally touched it in the dark," Lin Yongming said, moving closer to get a better sense of the area.
"You're still smiling!" Blue Silver Emperor said helplessly. "But this mist is truly bizarre."
"A'Yin, can you feel it? The spiritual energy inside the mist seems much denser than outside. Could there be some kind of treasure controlling the mist?" Lin Yongming whispered.
He suspected that the unique nature of the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Eye would also attract Blue Silver Emperor. After all, Blue Silver Emperor was a unique plant-type entity, much like the immortal herbs. In the original story, the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Eye had even accelerated the growth of Blue Silver Emperor's true form after her sacrifice.
"Huh? Xiao Ming, now that you mention it, there does seem to be something inside. And for some reason, it's attracting my Martial Soul. How strange," Blue Silver Emperor said, sensing the pull.
"What could it be? Why do I feel this attraction? Could there be a treasure land inside that's suitable for my growth?" Blue Silver Emperor thought to herself, deeply shocked.
She knew her own nature better than anyone. The place where she had originally grown was a rare land of concentrated spiritual energy, which had allowed her to reach the hundred-thousand-year level.
"A'Yin, I feel it too. My wave perception tells me there's something extraordinary inside," Lin Yongming nodded.
"A'Yin, should we try to go in?" Lin Yongming whispered.
"No, the poison is too strong. If the toxicity inside is even worse, we won't be able to withstand it," Blue Silver Emperor shook her head, refusing.
"Are we really going to miss out on this?" Lin Yongming said helplessly.
He realized he had underestimated the poison protecting the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Eye. Only a Spirit Sage-level expert could likely enter safely.
"Sigh… Let me test how thick the mist is. If it's too dense, we'll have to give up for now and come back when we're stronger," Blue Silver Emperor said with deep reluctance.
The attraction was becoming harder to resist, and she felt that leaving now would mean missing a great opportunity.
"A'Yin, how do you plan to test it?" Lin Yongming asked curiously.
"I tried using my spiritual power, but it can't penetrate the mist. I'll use my Blue Silver Grass to extend a vine and explore," Blue Silver Emperor said, her glowing.
"Alright, but if something goes wrong, pull back immediately. Don't push yourself," Lin Yongming warned.
"Okay."
Blue Silver Emperor crouched down, and a vine extended from her hand, creeping toward the mist. Along the way, ordinary Blue Silver Grass sprouted on either side of the vine.
However, as soon as the ordinary Blue Silver Grass touched the mist, it withered instantly. Only Blue Silver Emperor's vine remained unaffected.
