Dragon Ball: I Became Cell in a Doomed Future

Chapter 70: How Do We Use the Dragon Balls?

Bulma's face flushed as she lifted Levos out of her jacket, frog form and all.

"What the heck happened?" Goku scratched his head in confusion.

"We'll explain everything once we're back at the Lookout," Levos muttered, clearly frustrated about having his body stolen by Ginyu.

The group, carrying the petrified Android 16, teleported back to the Lookout.

"Goku!!"

Yajirobe's voice cracked with emotion as he spotted the familiar silhouette. He'd already heard from Dende that many of their old friends had returned, but seeing them with his own eyes still felt unreal.

"Miss Bulma, let me treat your wounds!" Dende rushed over the moment he noticed her injury.

The others gathered quickly around them.

But when they saw Levos in his current state, everyone froze for a moment.

Levos sighed, then quickly explained everything that had happened in rapid-fire speech.

Afterward, the group started asking about the current state of the battle. Even from here, far from the battlefield, they could feel that something was terribly wrong with the planet.

The oppressive, doomsday-like atmosphere was gnawing at everyone's hearts.

"Our enemies are too powerful. And more importantly…"

While waiting for Goku to return with the rest of the Dragon Balls, Levos explained the situation in detail what they were facing, and what he planned to do next.

At present, Frieza was barely managing to hold off Cell Max. But he wouldn't last much longer.

If Frieza lost, or worse, gave up trying to stop him, Earth would be doomed.

They had to find a way to help Frieza or contain Cell Max, fast.

A short while later, Goku returned from King Kai's planet with the remaining Dragon Balls.

As the seven radiant orbs pulsed with orange light, the Pilaf well, now four-man group stood before them, overwhelmed with emotion.

"So these are the Dragon Balls?" Dr. Heido stared with wide-eyed curiosity. "Can these really grant any wish?"

"N-no," Dende quickly corrected. "There are limits based on the power of the one who created the dragon. If the wish is beyond their capabilities, it won't work."

"What do you mean by that?" Dr. Heido tilted his head.

"Basically, you can't just ask the dragon to kill all the bad guys threatening Earth," Yajirobe cut in.

Levos said nothing. He simply stared silently at the Dragon Balls, deep in thought.

Everyone else held their breath, thinking hard.

After a long pause, Dende finally asked, a little nervously, "Mr. Levos… what should we do?"

"We need to stop Cell Max from destroying Earth," Levos said, voice heavy. "And at the same time, deal with Frieza, his father, and Babidi in one clean sweep."

"Then how about this?" Yajirobe suggested. "For the first wish, we just send all those villains far, far away from Earth!"

It wasn't a bad idea. It would solve the immediate crisis.

"Oh! That could work!" Goku's eyes lit up. "And the other two wishes could be used to revive everyone who died and rebuild the Earth!"

"But…" Dr. Heido frowned, stroking his chin. "If we're going to send them away, we need to make sure it's really far. If they come back, Earth's toast anyway."

"No!" Bulma objected immediately. "If we do that, Levos will have to wait another year before he can get his body back!"

She said firmly, "After everything he's done for us, I think one of those wishes should be used to return him to normal."

A heavy silence fell over the group.

Levos froze.

Then, gently, he declined. "Don't worry about me. If using all three wishes can ensure Earth's survival, then staying a frog a while longer really isn't a big deal."

He didn't want to sound selfish. Trading one of the wishes just to get his body back felt wrong.

It wouldn't improve the situation, either.

Besides, Levos didn't fully agree with the idea of simply teleporting the enemies away.

It might solve the problem for now, but it wouldn't address the root of the threat.

Focusing only on the immediate danger without considering what might come next would be foolish.

They had finally gathered all seven Dragon Balls. It was essential to make their wishes count.

The enemies currently on Earth were just one part of the problem.

Out in the universe, there were far more terrifying threats waiting to descend.

Broly, for instance still unaccounted for.

And more urgently, Moro.

A being who had existed for over ten million years, Moro had used the Namekian Dragon Balls to gain power and was now a massive looming threat.

His ability to sense life force was second to none. He may have already noticed the surge of energy gathering on Earth.

What if they teleported Frieza and the others away, only for Moro to arrive the very next moment and drain all life from the planet?

If the Dragon Balls were still on cooldown at that point, Earth wouldn't stand a chance.

Then there was Zamasu.

He had already declared his plan to wipe out all mortals across space and time.

This guy could abuse the Super Dragon Balls from multiple timelines to create endless powerful doppelgängers of Goku Black.

A walking bug in the system.

These enemies were beyond troublesome.

Levos sighed internally and turned to Bulma.

She was still watching him. Her gaze hadn't left him the entire time.

"Levos," she asked quietly, "what are you planning to do?"

"…I'm going to wish to switch bodies with Cell Max."

Bitterness crept into Levos's voice.

For the sake of survival, he had to give up on being human.

If it were up to him, of course he'd want his body back. But right now…

Everyone was stunned for a moment. Then their eyes lit up.

It was a brilliant plan.

If Levos took Cell Max's body, he would instantly become powerful enough to crush Frieza, Babidi, and anyone else who got in their way.

Everyone except Bulma.

She frowned. "Why? You want to turn into a monster?"

"No," Levos replied firmly. "This is about survival. Don't make me out to be some kind of saint. It's just the price I have to pay to gain power."

"Then what about the second wish?" Dende asked quickly.

"We use it… to revive the Supreme Kai."

"The Supreme Kai?" Everyone blinked in confusion.

"Yes," Levos nodded. "He's one of the highest deities in the universe."

He didn't want to reveal the co-dependent relationship between Supreme Kai and the God of Destruction.

Instead, he simply emphasized how important the Supreme Kai was and that if he were revived, he would definitely protect Earth.

Levos wasn't entirely sure Earth's Dragon Balls could bring back a Supreme Kai.

But based on the Buu saga, he believed they probably could.

After all, Earth's Dragon Balls had revived the trainee Supreme Kai, Kibito. And the Namekian ones even brought back the Old Kai.

If the current Supreme Kai was revived, it might also trigger Beerus's resurrection.

Whether or not Beerus would then protect Earth was uncertain.

But Levos wasn't too worried.

As long as Supreme Kai Shin showed the slightest bit of compassion showed that he would risk his life to protect Earth then Beerus, out of self-preservation, would absolutely step in.

"And as for the third wish…" Levos said, "I'll leave that up to you all."
