Chapter 42: CHAPTER 42
c42 – Looking for Toki's Weakness! Everyone Was Shocked
Inside the arena, Goku didn't immediately go on the offensive. He didn't even transform into Super Saiyan Blue at the start. Instead, he simply stood, eyes locked on Hit, the legendary assassin of Universe 6.
Across from him, Hit maintained his usual icy composure. Arms calmly at his sides, his face betrayed no emotion as he waited for Goku to make the first move.
The tension in the ring grew palpable. Everyone watching, from the stands to the gods, leaned forward. The warriors of both universes held their breath in anticipation. The match between Goku and Hit had everyone on edge.
"Humph! Just dragging this out! The Saiyans can't touch Hit," Champa sneered, arms crossed. "This is pointless. Universe 6 is going to win inevitably!"
"Shut up, Champa," Beerus shot back coldly. "Don't speak like you know how this'll end. Just watch."
Champa gave a dismissive huff but didn't push further.
Back on the battlefield, Goku's previously tense expression softened. A smile tugged at the corners of his mouth as he casually addressed Hit, "Sorry for not attacking right away. I've been watching you closely… trying to figure out your weakness."
Hit's violet eyes narrowed slightly. "…You're more honest than I expected."
Goku adjusted his stance, stepping into a traditional Earth-style martial arts pose. "Alright then! Let's get started. I've been looking forward to this!"
Hit's tone remained flat but firm. "Looking forward to losing, you mean? You already know you can't win."
Goku chuckled. "We'll see. I've got a hunch I'll find your opening."
Hit raised an eyebrow. "Enough talk."
The assassin from Universe 6 shifted his weight nothing flashy, just a relaxed, almost lazy posture. It looked basic, even plain. But to those with experience, it was terrifying. This was the stance of a master who had no need for wasted motion.
Goku's eyes narrowed. His senses sharpened. He could feel it, no openings. None.
The tension peaked.
Seeing both fighters ready, the announcer nervously called out, "Fighters ready… Begin!"
Zwoosh!
In an instant, Goku launched forward with explosive speed, closing the gap between them in a flash. He threw a clean, heavy punch straight for Hit's midsection.
But—BAM!
Goku's punch hit nothing.
In the blink of an eye, Hit vanished, and before Goku could react, a fist appeared at his side. Hit's punch landed cleanly into Goku's ribs, sending him flying backward across the ring!
"Gah!!" Goku skidded across the stage, gasping and clutching his side. "Whoa… That really hurt! Your punches hit harder than I thought!"
Hit stood calmly, lowering his arm. "I suggest you go all out. Anything less will be meaningless."
Despite the pain, Goku's grin returned. "Okay then… Round two!"
Zwoosh! Goku lunged again, unleashing a flurry of strikes—kicks, jabs, elbows. His movements blurred, his power rising. But Hit dodged every single blow without effort, slipping between attacks like water flowing around stone.
Then Crack!
Another flash. Another hit.
Goku was struck cleanly again this time from behind before he even registered Hit's movement. Flash time. It wasn't just speed. It was as if time itself shifted slightly each time Hit attacked.
Again and again, Goku was hit. Each blow was a lesson in pain. His opponent moved faster than instinct, faster than reaction.
Thud!
This time, Goku was sent airborne. He twisted mid-air, barely managing to land on his feet near the edge of the ring. He coughed, still holding his side—but he was smiling.
"Phew… I think I've finally got it," Goku said, his eyes gleaming.
Hit raised an eyebrow. "What did you say?"
"I've figured it out," Goku said confidently. "Your ability, your time-skip only lasts a fraction of a second. About 0.1 seconds, right?"
Hit's eyes widened ever so slightly. "…What?!"
Beerus, from the stands, narrowed his gaze. "He figured it out that quickly?"
Goku smirked, wiping blood from his mouth. "At first, I couldn't follow you at all. But after taking a few of your hits, I could feel it—the slight delay after your movement. Your technique has a window. It's not much, but it's there!"
"Tch…" For the first time, Hit looked genuinely annoyed. His calm expression faltered.
From the Seventh Universe side, Krillin leaned forward, stunned. "What?! Goku actually saw through Hit's time skip?! That's insane! There's no way there's a flaw in his technique!"
Vegeta, arms crossed, didn't look surprised. "Kakarot's battle sense is unmatched. Once he gets hit a few times, he starts to adapt. It's what he's always done."
Goku straightened his back, his aura flaring with controlled power. "Now that I've seen through it, I'm gonna give it my all!"
"Damn it… Kakarot!" Vegeta clenched his fists, conflicted. Part of him didn't want to admit it, but deep down, he knew Goku wasn't the type to bluff. He hated deception in a fight. If he claimed he found a weakness, it wasn't idle talk.
"Haah!!"
Suddenly, a surge of divine energy exploded around Goku as he powered up. His aura erupted like a roaring storm. Brilliant blue flames wrapped around his form, and in the next moment
BOOM!
Goku had transformed into Super Saiyan Blue.
Vwoooom…
His form glowed with intense blue ki, divine and overwhelming. The ground beneath his feet cracked slightly from the sheer pressure. Sparks danced along his aura like electric currents.
Goku narrowed his eyes and smiled. "Hit, you're really strong. But I'm not the type to give up—especially not in a fight like this. I won't lose to anyone!"
Hit observed the transformation silently, but his demeanor changed. His gaze sharpened, his stance more guarded. He could feel it, Super Saiyan Blue wasn't just for show. It compressed power into speed and precision. Without relying on Tokitobashi, his time-skip, even he would be at a disadvantage against this.
"Hmph." Hit readied himself. "You said you found a weakness in my technique? That's absurd. My Tokitobashi Flash Time doesn't have a weakness."
"Really now?" Goku grinned, letting his godly aura surge even higher. "Then let's test that!"
BOOM!
He vanished with a sonic boom, rushing straight at Hit like a blue meteor.
Hit's body tensed. As Goku approached, Hit activated his Tokitobashi. Time skipped forward—0.1 seconds. To the world, it looked like Goku stopped moving mid-charge.
Hit smirked, reappearing with a jab aimed straight at Goku's vital point.
CRACK!
But the strike didn't land.
WHAM!
Goku blocked it.
Hit's eyes went wide. "W-What?!"
The entire arena gasped.
"What?! Goku blocked Hit's time skip attack?! That's insane!" shouted Cabba, stunned.
"Oh oh oh oh!! Blocked!!" the announcer exclaimed.
On the Universe 7 side, everyone was frozen in shock.
Vegeta's face twisted in disbelief. "Impossible! How the hell did Kakarot react in time?!"
Luya, watching calmly with arms folded, explained slowly: "Hit's Tokitobashi lets him jump forward in time by 0.1 seconds. That's long enough for a skilled assassin to land a fatal blow. But it's more than just that. When Hit activates his time skip, he essentially moves outside of real time stepping into a brief alternate space. That's why he appears in unpredictable positions. It's not normal speed, it's beyond perception."
Whis nodded in agreement, smiling lightly. "You're exactly right. It's similar to my own technique. I can reverse time by three minutes, while Hit can skip forward in small bursts. It's quite rare to meet someone else who manipulates time like this."
Everyone's eyes widened as it started to make sense.
"But…" Luya continued, glancing back at the ring, "understanding the technique isn't enough. To beat it, you need more than strength. You must synchronize mind and body perfectly. You must read your opponent's movement not as it happens, but just before it does. Goku isn't reacting anymore he's predicting."
"That's…" Krillin stammered, stunned, "…that's insane!"
Whis clasped his staff behind his back. "Indeed. Goku is using his combat instincts, honed over years of battle, to anticipate Hit's reappearance points based on minimal clues slight movements, shifts in energy, muscle tension. It's a feat that requires divine-tier focus."
Piccolo narrowed his eyes. "He's compensating for a gap in time by acting before it happens…"
Tenshinhan's jaw dropped. "So that's why Goku took those earlier hits… He was calibrating his response!"
Hit leapt back slightly, his guard raised now. For the first time, a hint of doubt appeared on his face.
Goku adjusted his stance, his aura flaring as he cracked his knuckles. "You're fast, Hit… faster than anyone I've fought. But you're still using a pattern. I can't completely dodge your attacks yet, but I can read the rhythm of your time-skip now. It's not perfect, but I've got enough to land a hit!"
Hit's frown deepened. "Tch…"
Goku charged again. This time, Hit activated Tokitobashi instantly but Goku's fist was already coming up.
BOOM!
A shockwave exploded as Goku's punch collided with Hit's guard just as he appeared.
The arena shook. Even Whis raised an eyebrow.
"H-He hit him!!" Yamcha jumped up in disbelief.
Luya smirked. "It's started. Hit's advantage is slipping."
Vegeta muttered under his breath. "Kakarot, you idiot… you really never stop evolving…"
