Endless Horde: Through the Eyes of a Godking

Chapter 617: Death of the Void Prince

--

The Void Prince was pinned down, utterly helpless and alone. One slash to his neck and it could've been over, just like that.

But no, not yet, it seems...

Because before Cedric was even able to raise a sword to end the prince's pitiful existence, he woke up from his daze through some unknown miracle and somehow found the strength to not only shake off his bindings of the World Tree, but also get relief from the weight of the Ancient Titan Chancellor and the Wise Dragon Chancellor.

An explosion of pure abyss erupted from within him. One that seethes with rage and indignation. It transformed into a gigantic maw that tried to take a bite of his enemies, scaring them away in shock due to how feral it was.

The engorged and monster-turned prince regained his mobility. But instead of launching another attack, he just hatefully glared at his enemies before dashing into the broken gates, attempting to return to the void to make his escape.

"Oh, hell no, you don't!" Flint the Ancient Titan swam through space and placed himself in between the void prince and the shattered gates.

The others also tried to catch up to him and did their best to slow him down, but shockingly, the Void Prince was very determined to escape, and none of their attempts did anything to even hinder him.

Even as they tried severing his gigantic limbs, it was useless. His astounding vitality just ignored the injuries altogether, and he kept moving. They tried to interfere and get in his way, but he was unstoppable.

Maybe it's his desperation that's fueling this surprising resistance. No matter what, though, this wasn't good.

And although Flint was ready to hold the rabid prince down to prevent him from escaping, he was wholly unprepared when several gigantic tentacles suddenly erupted from the abyss-stained battlefield. They bound him and flung him to the side despite his strong desire and attempt to remain in place.

And while he did manage to destroy the tentacles even before he was flung far and tried to block the entrance to the void, alas, he was already too late.

The Void Prince was already gone and was not rampaging to the void...

What they didn't know is that the Void Prince surprisingly regained some semblance of his sanity just now. It happened when he broke out of his bindings.

It wasn't whole, but it was enough to make him understand and feel the serious threat of death looming over him.

The threat was unlike anything he had felt before, and it shattered all of his arrogance and confidence. The idea that he'd die as a failure was too much for him to bear, and that desperation is what sent him running back home.

'This was all a mistake.'

'We are not ready.'

'What was I thinking? Why did I underestimate them too much? '

'Lord Mother has given me intelligence to prevent mistakes like this, yet I never learned anything.'

'Lord Mother, please! I'm sorry. I couldn't do it. Save me! I don't want to die! Not like this! I'm too young! '

These were his thoughts as he galloped at the familiar sight of his home. His heart pounded in anticipation and hope. He could feel them chasing him, but he didn't care.

Surely, his creator would do something, right? It wouldn't just stare at him as he dies, right? He was its most precious son! It's its greatest creation! Relying on that intimate connection should be enough to make his creator move, right? Right?

Shing!

The unmistakable sound of steel rang across the void. The sharp and prickling sensation of that sword, the same one that injured him so badly earlier, was there again. And the Void Prince shivered in fright.

The Void Prince roared, calling out to his home to lend him aid, and more importantly, calling out to his creator to save him from this scary guy.

Alas, even though the void answered its prince's calls, it wasn't enough to stop Cedric from doing what he wanted to do.

He raised his sword, and from above, a gigantic sword appeared, one that's even bigger and longer than the Void Prince himself. It descended without any prior warning.

ROOOOAAARR!!

The heart-wrenching sound of the Void Prince's cry echoed throughout the void. The gigantic sword was embedded in his body, pinning him firmly in place, greatly limiting his mobility. Getting himself out of it wasn't a simple task, and the worst part is that the pain it caused him was so overwhelming that it's clouding his consciousness.

But Cedric wasn't done. In his mind, this chase has gone on long enough. He has had enough of the void and its little darling.

He sent out smaller swords, ones that are still too large for normal living beings but effective nonetheless. Each sword stabbed and pinned down the writhing limbs of the Void Prince.

In less than a minute, the Void Prince was completely left paralyzed by the swords. Even breathing became a challenge to him in his current state. And to further ensure that he wouldn't be able to escape this time, Cedric empowered the sword, turning it into a massive sealing formation fueled with raw Chaos Energy, one that wouldn't spare even a shred of mercy to the sealed subject.

"Whoa, it seems that he has run out of patience." The Primal Beast Chancellor muttered as he saw how Cedric ruthlessly and mercilessly suppressed the Void Prince.

The rest didn't say a word but agreed nonetheless. They just silently caught up and watched how Cedric would end this entire thing. It's a foregone conclusion after all.

LORD MOTHER, PLEASE HELP ME!

THEY'RE TRYING TO KILL ME! PLEASE! SAVE ME! I DON'T WANT TO DIE YET!

LORD MOTHER!

LORD MOTHER! PLEASE!

Mustering up the last of his swiftly fading strength, the Void Prince called out to his creator, desperate, and begging to be saved. The threat of death loomed oh-so-close right now, and it's in the shape of a creature wielding a sword, hovering just above his head.

His wails grew louder but weaker. But then, he heard something that caused his heart to sink into an eternal despair.

"Stop calling out to it. Your Lord Mother won't hear you."

Cedric spoke using the void's language, causing the Void Prince to be stunned because he didn't see that coming. Then, he said the words that dashed any remaining hope he had.

"I was the one who blew up that room, and you didn't see me coming. Even as I was breathing down your neck, you never saw me at all."

"And while you were busy searching for the culprit, I was there in your room. It took me a while, and it had been close, but in the end, I managed to seal the main consciousness of the void, preventing it from interfering."

"You should realize it now; after all, it's not responding to you, right? Even before you started this whole invasion attempt, nary a whisper."

The Void Prince trembled in disbelief and fear. His pupils shrank as he stared at Cedric.

His memories replayed themselves in his mind, reminding him of the unresponsive behavior of his Lord Mother, even now as he's pinned here and seconds away from dying.

No! No, it can't be! You...you can't do that!

"Well, I'm not forcing you to believe me." Cedric wore a thin smile. "I'm just telling you the reality of your situation. Whether you believe it or prefer to remain delusional until you die is completely up to you."

Cedric then landed on his head and aimed his sword at his brain. It was then that the Void Prince knew that his death was here. And his unwillingness to die had finally taken over.

No! No! Please don't kill me! I don't want to die!

I'll do anything, please! I never wanted any of this! I'm too young! Please! Have mercy on me!

"Sorry, kid," Cedric solemnly responded. "If you want to blame someone, blame the void for giving birth to you."

Refusing to hear any more of his cries and desperate pleas, Cedric stabbed his sword down and ended the Void Prince's life. The sword formation around him responded, making sure to eradicate all remaining traces of life within him.

As his consciousness faded, all the Void Prince felt was endless coldness and indifference. He wanted to cry out how unfair this all was, but he had no energy anymore. In the end, he just blamed the void for dragging him into this, just like his killer said.

Seeing that the Void Prince was finally dead and gone, Cedric and the chancellors heaved a sigh of relief. Finally, that threat was gone, and as expected, even as its favorite son died, the main consciousness of the void remained helpless thanks to Cedric's arrangements.

But then, they felt something...

A presence emerged from the fading body of the Void Prince. They were on guard at first, but then Cedric raised a hand and prevented them from doing anything drastic. His eyes shone as he stared at the rising silhouette.

"So, it seems that you've been helping us from behind the scenes."

"Isn't that right, Young Patriarch?"
