Chapter 616: Chaos vs. Void (V)
--
Roar!!
The Void Prince's mouth stretched way beyond what it should be. He didn't just release a soul-shaking roar filled with hate and unwillingness; he also fired off a beam of concentrated abyss at his enemies.
Pshew!
Everybody who saw that beam of pitch-black energy felt an existential dread gripping their hearts tight. Their instincts screamed at them to evade that at all cost because even a graze of that thing could completely erase them from existence, and that applies even to those who had successfully transitioned to the Void Refinement Realm.
To protect the camp, it was the Ancient Titan Chancellor who made a move. With his gigantic cosmic body, he swam forward and caught the beam of death squarely with his hands, cupping them as if to contain the thing.
He winced because he could feel this thing stinging and gnawing at his hands as soon as contact was made. It was surprising because after he turned into a Primordial, there's barely anything that could actually hurt him, but this did, displaying that while the Void Prince was outnumbered and outclassed, he's still a serious threat to them.
But of course, this was far from enough to kill the titan. Cosmic light blossomed from within him, pouring to his cupped hands and containing the harmful substance perfectly. The stinging and the gnawing stopped entirely once he did this; the side effects of the abyssal void were burned by the chaotic cosmic energy he released.
And he wasn't done. Chancellor Flint's eyes glowed dangerously with that same chaotic cosmic energy, and shortly after, he too belched pure chaos starfire at the Void Prince.
Pure plasma struck the rabid prince like a freight train, ending his attack and firmly pinning him to the ground. He was being torched alive, forced to endure the sustained agony of his very flesh being burned, unable to do anything about it. Because, you see, this chaos-fueled starfire wasn't just hot; it was heavy too, and its weight was continuously crushing the poor prince.
However, the rabid prince wouldn't go down like this easily...
Amidst his agony, he slammed his hand on the ground and released yet another geyser of void that swiftly dyed the entire battlefield pitch black. He then melded with the void, using its wide range to escape the burning agony, appearing somewhere else.
But before he could even catch his breath and prepare for another attack, he was stunned to see another figure standing practically in front of him.
It was Cedric, the one that he didn't recognize.
The moment the prince met those cold golden eyes, shivers ran down his spine. He immediately realized that his being here as soon as he appeared was no coincidence. It was calculated. This man predicted his actions even before he made a move.
And that made his skin crawl...
Sadly for him, Cedric was not interested in what he felt, nor did he care about what he thought, because as soon as their gazes met, Cedric's sword was already raised.
A cold and mercilessly indifferent gleam of steel greeted the rabid prince. In his eyes, this sword seemed to shift the very building blocks of reality itself. Its edge was so sharp that it's cutting through everything in its path.
Terror gripped the Void Prince's heart, something that he never thought he'd ever feel. With what little clarity he has left in that brain of his, he could immediately tell that this sword will definitely cause serious damage to him.
So far, he was fine. The attacks of his other enemies, while painful, remained superficial for now due to his resilient vitality. He could regenerate and consume the void to heal and restore him. He could even produce his own abyssal void and consume them for a never-ending cycle.
But this sword was different...
He knew that this sword doesn't care about him or the void. It disdained their rules, abilities, effects, and everything they stood for. It was peerlessly arrogant and domineering, and if this hits him, it will certainly leave lasting damage to him.
This realization happened in a microsecond; one could say that it's an instinctual reaction. Regardless, it was enough to force the Void Prince to escape that attack no matter the cost.
His wings warped into a strange shape, the abyss pool dragged him away, and his figure turned blurry like a shadow. All of these were attempts to ensure his safety.
And it worked, barely...
He was a split second away from being hacked by the sword.
However, this didn't make the Void Prince feel better or relieved. Instead, he felt an ominous pulse within him.
That's when he realized that Cedric's eyes never left him.
Then, out of nowhere, the surroundings shifted. Under his dumbstruck gaze, it's as if time rewound to the moment before he thought of escaping Cedric's sword.
Things played out the same as before; the prince's wings turned into a strange shape to help him move faster, the abyssal pool extended tendrils to pull him away, and his body turned shadowy and transparent.
This time, though, despite reacting and moving according to what should work. The sword still descended upon him, leaving a wide vertical gash that split his mouth and left a deep scar on his chest.
ROAAAAR!!
The rabid prince roared and wailed in pain. Beyond that, he was mostly in disbelief. What happened just now? None of it makes sense to him! Didn't he just evade that sword? He should've made it out unscathed!
He could've sworn that his calculations were correct and perfectly executed. He even foresaw his future, making it out just fine, yet how come the outcome was different?
As the Void Prince struggled in pain and disbelief, unable to understand anything, the Chancellors and those who were watching had a clue of how exactly Cedric did that.
'Now, he's casually reversing the Laws of Causality? Awesome! '
If it weren't for the seriousness of the atmosphere, Chancellor Igor would've surely given Cedric a thumbs-up.
Yes, that's what Cedric did just now. He reversed the laws of causality. In truth, the Void Prince didn't imagine the future where he evaded his sword strike; that did 'technically' happen. But because Cedric was determined to hurt him, his sword strike followed his will, and if that means rewriting the very laws of causality itself, then so be it.
And it wasn't just limited to that...
Cedric's strike just now contains a hundred percent of his sword intent. One that would linger and neutralize the regenerative abilities of the rabid prince. It's this trait that precisely made the Void Prince evade his attacks.
The sword's intent lingered. No matter how hard the Void Prince tried, he couldn't get rid of it. He was bleeding pure abyssal void from his wounds, dousing the battlefield with even more of it.
With this agonizing pain and misery, the Void Prince has completely lost it. The last bits of sanity he had were fried completely with how hard he tried coming up with the answer as to how he was hurt by Cedric's sword.
He has gone completely rabid, and it shows.
The void roared from within him. His body morphed into a nonsensical shape, turning into a gigantic, monstrous beast that was almost as big as the Wise Dragon Chancellor himself.
'Oh, that's clever. This transformation made the injury smaller. Alas, it cost him his intelligence,' Cedric calmly analyzed.
He wasn't afraid or shocked by the prince's transformation at all. He already logically predicted this happening, so it wasn't all that surprising.
From here on out, the Void Prince will be running on pure instincts now. He'd be way stronger, more durable, and more difficult to deal with, especially with his enormous size, but he would be more predictable.
Why? Because at this point, aside from his massive size, he's truly no different from any other ordinary void creature.
ROAAAR!!!
The massive frame of the Void Prince roared threateningly and domineeringly at his enemies. His mouth stretched wide open, and a continent-sized beam of void started gathering before his mouth.
Yet that didn't last long...
"Yeah, that won't do, buddy."
The Wise Dragon Chancellor grunted as he forcibly snapped the Void Prince's jaws shut with his claws.
He tried to retaliate, but the Ancient Titan Chancellor interfered. Flint punched the Void Prince's head, causing him to feel dizzy, and then laid his full weight on top of the beast, firmly restricting it in place.
"Stay down!" The titan groaned.
Silas summoned the gigantic roots of the World Tree to bind the beast even further, the Divine Celestial Chancellor and the Primal Beast Chancellor ran across its body, crippling him in the right places to take away his mobility completely, and the Holy Spirit Chancellor began weaving all sorts of illusions in the Void Prince's mind to befuddle him.
In less than ten minutes, the Void Prince was completely contained and bound. His eyes went slack and dull, completely immersed in the illusion. His limbs were torn apart, and his gigantic body was bound by roots and was completely immobilized.
'Yeah, this is why I said that the moment he loses his sanity was also the moment he dies.'
