Exorcist in America

Chapter 416: Chapter 416: Meteor Shower

Above the darkening sea.

As the thick fog that blotted out the sky slowly dissipated.

All the vessels, drifting aimlessly, gradually began to emerge before the eyes of everyone on board.

Though the fog was still present and not yet fully cleared, its sudden dispersal brought a post-disaster joy to the otherworldly beings.

Hidden within the carrier's cabin, the President of the Free Nation and the high-ranking otherworldly beings around him all breathed a sigh of relief, their bodies relaxing from tension,

Although they did not know why the apocalyptic fog had dissipated, nor what crises might follow, anything was better than being blind and ignorant.

The President of the Free Nation unclenched his fists, the fear of being deprived of all senses and knowing nothing was more terrifying than anything else.

"Scan the surroundings, I need to know what happened outside after the fog!"

"Understood." The otherworldly general, also relieved, gathered his strength to give commands again.

Radar systems, including sonar and other external monitoring systems that had been useless while the fog persisted, were all reactivated at this moment.

"Report! Radar systems are back online, target spotted."

"Report! Infrared detection systems have resumed normal operation, please instruct."

"Report! The photoelectric countermeasure system has started."

."

Reports from the crew members echoed one after another in the cabin, gradually lightening the previously heavy atmosphere.

Especially the last reminder.

"Sir, the fog outside has cleared."

The elated voice of the leader from Korea prompted the President of the Free Nation and the otherworldly generals beside him to look over.

The dense fog that had obscured everything had indeed dispersed.

The massive hulls, towering masts, and sharp gun barrels gradually became visible and clear.

"Restore wireless communication," the President of the Free Nation said calmly.

The otherworldly general nodded: "Yes."

At his command, the crew began to attempt contact with the ships outside.

Before long, somewhat panicked voices resonated in the cabin.

"Sir! The ships that were holding humans are gone!"

This announcement shocked everyone present; they didn't understand what this meant, how could the ships holding humans just disappear.

"The fog! That's why the apocalyptic fog appeared!"

By the time they realized, the atmosphere in the space had changed, becoming strange and filled with hindsight.

Everyone in the cabin instinctively started thinking in the same direction.

Without humans' sustainable development, without human hosts they would die of disease and age, so what difference was there now between their species and humans? In fact, humans seemed even smarter.

"What's the panic!" The President of the Free Nation, seeing the otherworldly beings start to get confused and overthink, shouted.

"Everyone mobilize, search! Find out the reason for the humans' disappearance."

Perhaps influenced by the aura and shout of the strongest among them, the cabin barely regained its composure; no one dared to provoke the President's anger at this moment.

For a while, messages to contact the outside kept ringing.

To sum it up, there was only one directive: search, find out why the ships holding humans disappeared.

"Phew."

The President of the Free Nation stood there, watching the hustle and bustle, unable to help but take a deep breath and say.

"I have a bad feeling."

The otherworldly general spoke: "Sir, do you feel something?"

"No." The President of the Free Nation shook his head, looking at a screen in front of him. The screen showed the scene outside.

From this scene alone, the Free Nation could tell that the weather outside was fine, suitable for standing on the deck to enjoy the breeze. But now, he didn't know why, the more he looked, the stronger the unease in his heart.

As if a giant invisible beast were watching him, it was chilling.

But no matter how much he thought, based on the reports from the crew, he knew there really was nothing outside.

"Expand the monitoring range further, open up all detection systems."

The President of the Free Nation spoke, watching the otherworldly general nod, then added another line.

"And the defense systems, I need the ships outside to be our eyes and hands."

The otherworldly general nodded earnestly, feeling uneasy too. It was like the calm before a storm:

"Understood!"

As an hour passed, on a distant coastline, stars began to appear.

The human race finally reached the broad coastline, one after another stopping, standing there, occupying everything on the coastline, facing the boundless sea. They appeared like tiny islands or stars.

"Phew."

Letting out a breath filled with the impurities of continuous movement, Ashley at the forefront looked out over the endless sea, unable to resist peeking at the surrounding environment.

The fog had truly cleared. Seizing this chance, he searched for the missing warhead.

Unfortunately, his vision blurred, he saw nothing

.

Only the sound of the waves roared in his ears, relentlessly slapping the beach with a deep and prolonged sound, like the breathing of the sea.

Finding nothing, Ashley had no choice but to give up looking at the dark and slightly terrifying sea, where nothing appeared. Against such a grand backdrop, their group of humans seemed like insignificant specks of dust.

"There's nothing, Mr. Ashley," the voice of Dino Lebrun broke his reverie.

Ashley could hear the deep disappointment in the voice of this highly esteemed legislator, taking a deep breath.

"Go ask those people over there, see if they've found anything."

He was disappointed too, and also doubting his own conjecture, wondering if it was just a cruel joke by the gods, using this method to separate two previously intertwined races, then watching from high above, as the two races fought bloodily.

"Like humans watching ants fight? A beast-fight," Ashley thought to himself.

But before he could think further, he quickly received feedback.

As the coastline filled up with a dense, continuously arriving crowd, word of mouth became the only means of communication.

He didn't have to wait; through the chaotic sounds, Ashley already knew the outcome.

They had found neither sight nor trace of the missing warhead.

"Mr. Ashley?"

The faces of Dino Lebrun and the others looked troubled.

Dio Biya glanced at them, then looked back at the silent, unresponsive Ashley, shaking his head and saying:

"Old buddy, it looks like our previous guesses were somewhat mistaken."

Ashley pursed his lips looking toward the pitch-black sea, taking a deep breath to suppress his emotions, his expression growing somber.

"That seems to be the case. It looks like we'll just have to keep moving this place, head deeper inland. At least until the other species realizes the fog has cleared and comes ashore to explore, we can't let them discover that we're still alive."

In an instant, Ashley had thought of the best course of action.

"That's right," Dio Biya nodded. "We need to gradually increase the distance between us. We need more time to prepare."

Ashley hummed in agreement.

But just then, a louder, more frantic noise caught his attention.

"Look! Look! What is that!"

Instinctively following the source of the sound, Ashley saw, deep in the dark sea, lights suddenly appearing, twinkling faintly in the darkness. Before long, a ship after another came into his view.

This suddenly, like oil meeting water, the commotion in the crowd grew larger.

Even Dino Lebrun and others couldn't keep their composure.

"Mr. Ashley! They're coming! We need to go!"

The crowd slowly began to show signs of crowding, a major incident brewing.

Dino Lebrun instinctively grabbed the stunned Ashley, urging others to pull Dio Biya and some of the smartest old men of the human race, ready to flee.

"No!" Ashley suddenly shook off Dino Lebrun's hand, shouting loudly.

"That's wrong! Those aren't ships of the other species!"

He cried out.

"Those are the ships that were holding us humans!"

Ashley's eyes widened, staring dead at the ships appearing.

"Look! There are no surrounding warships around these ships! They were saved by God!"

As soon as he said this, the people nearby were momentarily stabilized, only able to follow Ashley and stare dead at the ships appearing in sight.

But that was about it. The line of dispersing crowd was too long, the number of people too great.

Ashley's words didn't spread quickly enough, the vast crowd still showed signs of turmoil, chaos occurring amidst the squeezing.

In the air.

"Uncle York." Alesha looked at York beside her, who remained calm, only looking at the ships below.

As the leader known as Triangle Head cleared potential otherworldly beings and disappeared, those confused humans began to boldly appear on the decks.

"Since it's all divided."

Seeing this, York said indifferently, waving his hand and instantly dispersing the dense clouds around, clearing the sky completely.

With a boom, the thunderous sound it caused made the crowd below instantly stop.

Ashley, Dio Biya, and other elders, including Dino Lebrun and other high-ranking officials, as well as ordinary humans, all instinctively looked up.

This look was critical, leaving them stunned on the spot, unsure how to express their emotions and thoughts.

As the clouds above instantly cleared, they revealed the true face of the sky.

One warhead after another floated above their heads, slowly rotating, their tips pointed towards the vast sea.

Compared to ordinary humans, Ashley, Dio Biya, and other elders, including Dino Lebrun and other high-ranking officials, understood the nature of these warheads better.

They were all dumbfounded.

"MK-17, MK-24, Mike

V, MK-36 nuclear bomb, MK-14/TX-14, TX-21 little shrimp hydrogen bomb, B41 nuclear bomb, AN602, also known as 'Tsar Bomba', Dongfeng 41, Giant Wave, Long Sword-100"

One after another, the names of the warheads were murmured by Dino Lebrun, without thinking.

This was just a drop in the ocean, many more warheads he glanced at, unable to count them all.

"My God!" he murmured, looking at the dense, countless warheads in the sky, his eyes already unfocused, without focal length.

Among these stunned crowds, Ashley as a wise man was still somewhat composed, but he couldn't help but clutch his chest, breathing rapidly, even he dared not think about what would happen if these warheads fell all at once.

But in that moment, he already knew everything, his blurred eyes becoming brighter.

"God!"

He instinctively wanted to look past these dense, at least tens of thousands of warheads, trying to find traces of God.

But obviously, no matter how he looked, he couldn't see York and Alesha's traces, after all, human eyes have their limits.

York just stood there calmly, watching the crowd looking up, but in that moment he seemed to feel someone calling him, turning his gaze to the front of the crowd, glancing at Ashley and others.

"This is."

Seeing the strands of unfamiliar yet familiar energy rising from these people's heads, York felt a movement in his heart, but did not immediately deal with these matters, instead continuing to shift his gaze to the dark, vast sea, his pupils seemingly reflecting the floating aircraft carrier fleet group.

"Alesha, uncle will set off fireworks for you, okay?" York said softly.

"Okay!" Alesha, standing beside him, also looked towards the vast sea along with York's gaze, her eyes already full of anticipation and excitement, as if she was ready to watch the fireworks show.

"Uncle York! I can't wait anymore!"

York smiled and pressed his right hand down.

A colorless, invisible ripple appeared in the space, centering on his right hand, spreading towards the warheads below.

"Enchantment successful 0.1."

"Enchantment successful 0.1."

."

Notifications of enchantment consumption echoed in his mind, York in one breath exhausted all his magic, enhancing the original power of the warheads by another 0.1 times.

"This should be enough," York smiled, then snapped his fingers.

Bang!

The nuclear warhead at the forefront suddenly trembled lightly, then burst forward with a roar.

That flame, like a meteor, drew the crowd's attention.

"This is..."

Ashley and the others looked up, watching the first warhead ride the flames through the void, accompanied by a roar, breaking through the darkness.

Bang!

Bang!

After the first one came the second, and then all of them.

The night sky was low, the stars like ink, in the silent night sky, streaks of bright light like burning flames, cut through the dark curtain.

These lights illuminated the entire night sky, as if to set the whole universe on fire, they crossed the sky, like brilliant fireworks, and like a spectacular meteor shower.

A meteor shower appeared.

At this moment, time seemed to freeze, Ashley, Dio Biya, and other elders, including Dino Lebrun and other high-ranking officials, and every ordinary human, the entire human race held their breath, only their eyes dancing with the meteors in the night sky.

"It's so beautiful, Uncle York." Even Alesha was marveling.

York glanced down at her, Alesha's eyes were already wide open, her pupils reflecting the blazing fire streams.

"Yes, it's really beautiful."
