Fairy Tail: Igneel's eldest son in Anime Multiverse

Chapter 152: Chapter 152: Subjugation Success

[Dragon Slayer] and [Evil Dragon] are highly effective when fighting humanoid enemies, but when it comes to massive monsters, Charles found [Martial Saint] more suitable.

The [Martial Saint] manifested as a Green Dragon Crescent Blade, possessing the crushing power of a heavy weapon and the lethal sharpness of a cutting blade—designed for peerless generals to wreak havoc on the battlefield. Naturally, it worked extremely well against massive beasts.

Charles dragged the crescent blade behind him, his body wrapped in searing flames, transforming into a meteor of fire as he shot toward Amphisbaena.

The agile white tail lashed up again, sweeping at Charles like swatting a fly.

Charles raised his blade and slashed. Scales, flesh, and muscle were all sliced apart, and the fire on the blade seared the wound into a charred black trench.

Amphisbaena's tail was severed and flung away. Even the exposed bone had a deep fracture running through it.

Yet Charles wasn't satisfied with the result. While he had avoided being swatted away like earlier, in his peak condition, this strike should have cleaved the entire tail clean off.

Spinning in the air, Charles cleverly dispersed the force of the impact and continued his assault without slowing.

Amphisbaena roared, the sound filled with agony, but it now fully recognized the danger Charles posed.

Though it lacked intelligence, it could keenly sense threats to its life.

Red mist sprayed from one of its mouths, the dense fog engulfing its entire body.

Charles charged into the mist. Though he felt no physical discomfort, the flames around him weakened significantly—some even vanished entirely.

But Charles didn't retreat. Even with reduced magical augmentation, his raw physical strength was enough to pierce Amphisbaena's defenses.

He swung his blade—but struck only the churning lake surface. The moment Charles had closed the distance, Amphisbaena had submerged into the water.

No wonder the beast's combat rank rose to LV6 underwater.

It could move freely through the depths, diving at will to evade attacks—making it far harder to fight.

Suddenly, bubbles surged up from the lake, and a faint blue glow lit up beneath the surface.

A moment later, torrents of steam and blue fire erupted upward. The flames engulfed Charles, and the combined steam and red mist filled the lake's surface, blurring everything from view.

Charles raised an eyebrow. If Amphisbaena had deliberately created this obscured battlefield, he might need to reassess the creature's intelligence.

For most adventurers, impaired visibility would be a major threat. But Charles could clearly sense Amphisbaena launching an attack from below.

Sweeping away the lingering flames around him, Charles gripped his blade with both hands and blocked downward.

At that instant, one of Amphisbaena's heads shot out, jaws snapping at him—but the crescent blade's shaft jammed between its fangs.

Dragon fangs scraped against metal, sending sparks flying. The thrashing head swung Charles around midair like a ragdoll.

He clung tightly to the weapon's shaft and drove a powerful kick into the dragon's nose.

Even under armored scales, the nose was still a vulnerable point. Amphisbaena recoiled in pain and let go, flinging Charles outward.

Charles soared beyond the edge of the mist and used the momentum to climb higher into the air.

But before he could catch his breath, Amphisbaena burst from the lake.

Though it had no wings, the twin-headed dragon leapt upward and lunged toward Charles.

"You really think I don't have a way to deal with you?"

Despite holding the advantage in battle, Charles had been fighting at a disadvantage overall.

Part of it was the weakening effect of the potion, but the greater issue was the environment—it strongly favored the dragon.

Forced to fight aerially due to the lake terrain, Charles had more flexibility but lacked solid footing, diminishing the power behind many of his moves.

But Charles had studied martial arts for too long not to have counters for such situations.

He spun his polearm, using the rotation to drive his own body into a spinning motion.

Dodging the dragon's bite, Charles transformed into a whirling blade, carving down Amphisbaena's neck toward its torso.

Each strike left clean gashes along its neck, cutting through scales. Blood gushed forth, dyeing Charles in a crimson sheen.

His blade plunged deep into the beast's bifurcated body. Clinging tight, Charles and the screeching dragon crashed back into the lake.

Waves exploded into the air—and then everything went still.

That calm lasted about a minute before the lake suddenly boiled over, as if something was heating it from within.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

Amphisbaena reemerged, both heads thrashing wildly, flinging water everywhere.

But mixed among the splashing waves was a disturbing amount of blood.

No one knew what had happened underwater, but Amphisbaena's body was now covered in horrifying wounds.

Charles's blade was embedded in its back, and no matter how wildly it flailed, the weapon—and Charles—remained stuck fast.

Standing atop the beast's back, Charles placed his second hand on the hilt. His expression hardened as flames surged from both hands.

Amphisbaena's red mist could suppress magic spells, forcing adventurers to rely on physical attacks.

But Charles refused to believe that a magical assault from within its body could be blocked.

His draconic power boiled over, the strain causing scale-like markings to appear across his face.

Dragon fire, converted directly from draconic energy and no weaker than Amphisbaena's own blue flames, poured into the beast through the Martial Saint's blade.

Amphisbaena's struggles grew more frantic as a red glow emerged from the point where the blade had pierced it.

The light grew so intense it shone through flesh, muscle, and scale—visible even from outside.

Both dragon heads twisted around, snapping desperately at the man latched to its back.

Charles pressed himself flat against its spine, dodging both jaws.

Though its heads were flexible, Charles had anchored himself in a blind spot—just beyond their reach.

The heads swept past, the sharp scales slicing open Charles's side.

Gritting his teeth, he pushed the blade deeper and channeled more dragon fire inside.

Amphisbaena's movements ceased.

Its chest swelled unnaturally, scales lifting as pressure built beneath them.

Moments later, its chest exploded in a fireball, flinging shards of organ, scale, and flesh outward in a gruesome burst.

Within the flames, a massive magic stone was ejected. Cracks spread across it mid-air, spiderwebbing until it shattered completely.

The space beneath Charles's feet vanished. Amphisbaena's body burst into countless motes of light.

That marked the successful subjugation of the Labyrinth King, Amphisbaena.
