Chapter 167: Collapse
Accompanied by Erza Knightwalker's screams, the spot where she stood was blasted apart by the barrage of conqueror's haki swords in the blink of an eye, leaving only ruins.
"Lady Erza!!"
"Attack, attack!!"
The soldiers of the Kingdom Army launched another strike against Su Yan. Some wore arm-mounted devices shaped like cannon barrels for ranged attacks, while others wielded shielded gauntlets and spears for close combat. By most standards, this was a formidable fighting force.
Setting aside their Magic War Power, the Edolas Kingdom was no weaker than the Magic Council from the Ishgar continent. Unfortunately for them, their adversary was Su Yan—a monster capable of toppling an entire country if he wished.
If Su Yan's clothes hadn't been damaged, he would have bothered to dodge more or clad himself in armament haki to preserve his appearance. But now that they were torn, he didn't care; it was as though some seal had broken. His combat strength rose by several levels.
"Boom boom boom!!"
He charged straight through their concentrated attacks, unleashing an onslaught. None of the soldiers could stand up to him.
Although Edolas's magitech was advanced, their limited supply of magic hindered development of truly powerful weapons. Only a few captains of the Royal Army's Demon War Forces had special armaments; the rest carried standard gear.
Just then, a massive shadow appeared overhead. Moments later, hulking, cow-like creatures landed around Su Yan.
"Yes! It's the Legion squad!!"
The Royal Army soldiers were thrilled at the sight of these monsters.
"Legion, huh?" Su Yan had seen something similar back at the Edolas Fairy Tail guild, but he hadn't imagined that the kingdom kept so many of them. It was no wonder Edolas had terrorized other lands—he needed to reevaluate their might. Without factoring in Earthland's magic power, the Magic Council probably wouldn't be able to handle Edolas, either.
"Roar—-!!"
One of the Legion roared and charged, aiming its head at Su Yan's body.
"Kill him!!"
"Boom—-!!"
The ground shook from the impact, and the Royal Army's shouts died abruptly. Every eye turned to where Su Yan stood.
A Legion beast—powerful enough to smash houses and even city walls—had been stopped cold by Su Yan's single hand. It almost looked fake, as if the beast had simply halted on its own.
Su Yan smiled faintly. "Not bad strength."
Enraged by what seemed like mockery, the Legion pushed harder, trying to overwhelm him. The ground cracked beneath its straining hooves, but Su Yan didn't budge.
Planting his hands on a section of the creature's head, Su Yan heaved upward.
"Boom!!"
He lifted the enormous Legion with a casual motion. Compared to the creature's bulk, he looked almost like an ant, but the beast's four legs thrashed helplessly in midair. No amount of struggling helped.
Judging by Su Yan's calm expression, it didn't even seem difficult.
With the flailing monster still in his grip, Su Yan spun around once.
"Crack!!"
The Legion's flailing tail struck the other nearby beasts in the face.
"Neighhh!!"
They let out pained shrieks as they collapsed.
Then, gripping the Legion's tail, Su Yan hurled the creature skyward.
"Crash!"
It slammed into others in the Legion squad overhead. Together they fell onto the Edolas Palace building, shattering walls and leaving gaping holes.
"Aaaaggghhhh, this guy's a monster!!!"
At last, the Kingdom Army lost its nerve. Even before, when Su Yan had shrugged off swords, bullets, and spells—and had taken down Erza, the leader of a Demon War Force—they hadn't completely broken. They'd clung to the hope his magic might eventually run out, turning him into easy prey.
But now they realized he wasn't human at all, or if he was, he belonged to a higher class of monster.
Suddenly, a resolute voice rang out: "Do not panic!!!"
Everyone turned. Among the recently destroyed rubble, a ragged figure stepped forward—Erza Knightwalker.
"It's Captain Erza!!"
"Yes! Captain Erza's still alive!"
Seeing her reappear steadied their morale.
"Why bother standing back up?" Su Yan asked. He couldn't help recalling the Erza he knew; they looked alike and bore similar expressions, which messed with his head—even though this Knightwalker was a different person.
"I must," Erza Knightwalker replied, her face grim. "I am Erza Knightwalker of the Second Magic War Force of the Edolas Kingdom. I will never allow an invader like you to trample our kingdom's order!"
"Stop pretending you're the victims here," Su Yan shot back. "You're the ones who started this."
"That's right! This is a war between two worlds!" Knightwalker retorted. "There's no real right or wrong. Now I'll use my strongest weapon."
"A stronger one?" Su Yan asked, sounding almost bored.
The spear in Erza Knightwalker's hands deformed again, transforming into a completely new weapon. "This is Holy Spear: Holy Stone World—the final form of the Ten Commandments Spear."
"A holy spear forged by Edolas's greatest craftspeople. Its strike can shake the whole world."
"Is that so? Then I look forward to it."
"Your smug calm ends here. Die! Ooooooooh!!!"
Su Yan said nothing. He simply clenched his right fist, left foot stepping forward.
