Chapter 107: Chapter 107: An Unexpected Gain

Setting up the lab was surprisingly easy—it was immediately greenlit.

Yuhara's reasoning was solid, and since both Fugaku and Shisui had fought that mysterious Uchiha, they could personally confirm what he described.

That guy's technique and combat sense were really mediocre. If he hadn't relied on dojutsu to protect himself—especially using the forbidden Izanagi—they would've easily wiped him out.

Without space-time jutsu, the guy would've been toast.

He admitted to being the culprit behind the Nine-Tails incident eight years ago. Given the enormous chakra cost of controlling the beast with Sharingan, the fact that his eyes still functioned perfectly now was incredibly suspicious.

Yuhara's logic left no room for doubt, and both men sincerely hoped to find a way to solve the problem of ocular deterioration.

Using the Mangekyō too much would absolutely damage your eyesight. Fugaku had always been hesitant to use his—likely for this very reason.

Shisui, on the other hand, had used his powers quite often, especially against Obito, where he deployed two different versions of Kotoamatsukami. He definitely felt the toll by now.

Given the chance, neither man wanted to pass it up—especially if it meant sparing future generations from the same fate.

"If we can solve this, future Mangekyō users won't have to suffer. And if siblings both awaken it, we can avoid tragedies between family members."

With that kind of motivation, the lab's creation was practically guaranteed. Fugaku even returned Itachi's eye to Yuhara.

"Clan leader, you should hold onto this. I don't need it. I'd rather be the test subject myself. Save it for Sasuke. If he awakens the Mangekyō, having his brother's eye might help him. If not, he'll still benefit from the power."

Yuhara didn't refuse. Fugaku was clearly pouring all his former love for Itachi into Sasuke now.

Yuhara remembered well—when Sasuke was little, all he wanted was his father's approval. But Fugaku was famously cold and distant.

Maybe life in Konoha had hardened him, making him emotionally unavailable. Sasuke's childhood really had been rough.

Now though, things were looking up. Whether that was good or bad remained to be seen. This Sasuke was already deviating from the original.

But in the end, Yuhara figured it'd be fine. Sasuke's real power came from the "Six Paths cheat code."

Even if it was just a recycled half-version, it was still the foundation of his strength.

"If the Uchiha clan didn't get wiped out, and Sasuke still couldn't outperform his original self, he might as well retire."

Yuhara smirked at the thought, then went back to writing up the current Police Force reform plans.

He had the general structure in his head, but turning it into a comprehensive document was no small feat.

There were so many issues—departmental divisions, defining roles, and dismantling the "Dragon Field Enlightenment Center." It was endless.

On top of that, Uchiha Sō and Takechi constantly came to him with clan reform matters.

For nearly two months now, all their time had been spent on this. Exhausting, but fulfilling.

Yuhara, however, still slacked a bit. As clan leader, he didn't have to do everything himself.

He preferred setting the direction and checking key details—delegating the grunt work to others.

He hadn't forgotten that historical chancellor from his previous life who worked himself to death.

He'd already lived the 996 grind back then—he wasn't about to repeat it here.

Whether his subordinates were working 996 or 007? Not his problem. In fact, he kind of hoped they would.

But Yuhara wasn't heartless—otherwise, he wouldn't have proposed the lab.

"The truth is, we won't need much research. Obito's eyes were only stable because of that White Zetsu body."

Of course, he couldn't say that outright. He lacked the proof to back it up.

Better to let them discover it themselves—it would only deepen their respect and loyalty.

"Though, honestly, they already respect me more than enough."

Construction of the lab was moving along, but there was one glaring issue—they lacked medical-nin.

The good news? Yuhara's outreach had convinced a few volunteers. Among them, a familiar name caught his eye.

"Uchiha Izumi? Wasn't she that traitor's childhood friend?"

Seeing the name, Yuhara paused, then recalled a few details.

She supposedly awakened her Sharingan during the clan massacre?

Unfortunately, after checking, she had awakened her eyes—but nowhere near the three-tomoe level.

Her activation was triggered by Itachi's betrayal. Even if she initially believed he had his reasons, that illusion shattered when she saw him prepare to fight Fugaku alongside the masked attacker.

That betrayal awakened her eyes—and deep hatred.

Like Sasuke, she couldn't understand why he did what he did.

Teaming up with the one who helped kill the Fourth Hokage? And then trying to slaughter the very clan that raised him?

Fueled by rage, Izumi developed an inexplicable urge to atone. Because she once loved Itachi, she felt it was wrong—and wanted to make things right in her own way.

"Classic Uchiha behavior," Yuhara chuckled.

That kind of melodramatic thinking could only be explained by calling it… Uchiha.

"Still, this might actually be a good thing.

Now, the people who love you, admire you, and believe in you… are your enemies.

Let's see how long that so-called conviction of yours lasts."
