Chapter 110: Chapter 110: Provocation
"Clan Leader Yuhara, greetings."
"Didn't expect it to be the legendary Copy Ninja, Kakashi Hatake. What an honor."
Yuhara smiled at Kakashi, bluntly exposing his identity without any games. Kakashi remained calm, unaffected by being recognized.
To be fair, his identity was easy to guess—silver hair, masked face, and that Sharingan. Not to mention his signature move: Chidori. He was a war hero and student of the Fourth Hokage—his face was known across the shinobi world. Even enemies recognized him instantly.
Frankly, Kakashi didn't belong in ANBU anymore. Their job demanded anonymity, and he was anything but. But he refused to leave.
"Yuhara-san flatters me. Compared to you, I'm nothing. Those titles mean little—they all came from this eye anyway," Kakashi said coolly, voice almost mechanical—nothing like the later, more human version of him.
But Yuhara knew his backstory. He wasn't surprised—just intrigued that Hiruzen had sent Kakashi to monitor Naruto. Logical, though. Technically, Kakashi was Naruto's senior.
Still, having Kakashi show up like this? That played right into Yuhara's hand.
He'd been planning to meet Kakashi and even considered trying to sway this future Sixth Hokage. Now the chance had fallen into his lap.
"That eye was a gift from Obito. A rule-breaker, sure—but we respect the will of heroes," Yuhara said warmly. "And you've never dishonored it. I think Obito would be proud. When you meet again in the Pure Land a hundred years from now, you can tell him you used his eye to see the path forward."
Kakashi's stiff posture softened—only slightly, but Yuhara noticed.
"…Thank you."
His voice had lost its earlier chill.
"No need. But I didn't expect your mission was to monitor Naruto," Yuhara added, turning to him now that Naruto and Shisui had disappeared into the Uchiha compound.
"But it makes sense—he's your teacher's son, after all."
That line made Kakashi visibly tense, his relaxed guard snapping back up.
"Having you shadow your teacher's child, watch his every move… you've probably seen a lot of his suffering, huh?"
The atmosphere turned heavy. Kakashi stared at Yuhara with growing wariness—his Sharingan spinning slightly.
"Don't look at me like that, Kakashi," Yuhara said evenly. "Did I say anything untrue? And what do you think that eye can do to me?"
With that, Yuhara slowly closed his eyes—then snapped them open.
Twin Sharingan, three tomoe spinning. The oppressive force that surged from him made Kakashi freeze.
It felt like the moment he faced Orochimaru years ago—one cold glance from the wounded Sannin, and Kakashi couldn't move.
That same chill, that same pressure—it was back. But this time, even more terrifying.
Kakashi gritted his teeth and gripped his blade, the only thing anchoring him.
"So you disagree? Thinking of fighting?"
Without hesitation, Yuhara struck.
As clan leader, being glared at on his own turf was a challenge—and Yuhara had intended this from the start.
Partly to test the changes from the "Darkborn Scythe," and partly to send Kakashi a message.
In Yuhara's memory, Kakashi's life had three major turning points:
First, his father's death. Sakumo's suicide shattered Kakashi's faith—he began doubting everything, growing cold and isolated.
Second, Obito's death. Though opposites, Obito and Kakashi formed a bond. Obito's "death" and final gift—his left eye—gave Kakashi a new purpose: protect Rin.
Then Rin died by his own hand. Even if it wasn't his fault, it broke him.
He became a hollow tool—no longer a person, just a weapon.
Then came the death of Minato, his teacher. Watching Minato sacrifice himself for the village reminded Kakashi of something:
That there were still things worth protecting.
Obito wanted to be Hokage to protect the village. Rin died to stop the Three-Tails from being unleashed—also to protect the village.
His teacher and comrades had all shared one dream—even at the cost of their lives.
That planted a seed in Kakashi. Later, with the help of friends like Gai, he started to heal.
But not yet. He was still in ANBU, still lost.
He hadn't met Team 7 yet. He hadn't found his purpose again.
Yuhara couldn't comfort Kakashi—but he could jolt him awake.
The ones who shaped Kakashi most were his father, Minato, Obito, and Rin.
Yuhara could use two of those names to strike deep.
"Cruel, maybe—but better than being a walking corpse with no purpose."
In a blink, Yuhara's blade was drawn.
He felt stronger, faster—his body transformed. He hadn't even gone all out, and yet Kakashi was struggling.
Kakashi reacted quickly, blocking the first strike.
But the force behind it overwhelmed him.
"What strength… what speed… this guy—"
Before he could think more, Yuhara vanished.
Kakashi's Sharingan saw it—but couldn't keep up.
Yuhara appeared at his side, blade glowing with blue chakra, sweeping toward his neck.
