Chapter 7: Entrance Exam
Dream and Mr. Yagi drove from the junkyard to where Mr. Yagi said the second part of the UA Entrance Exam would be taking place. They got out of the truck; Dream looked around to see miniature cities surrounded by cement walls in a circle surrounding what seemed to be a watchtower in the middle. While Dream was in a daze, Mr. Yagi started walking towards the Watchtower. "Young man, we need to hurry before the student candidates come to do their second part of the exam!" said Mr. Yagi. Dream looked back towards Mr. Yagi with his smiling, white mask and walked ahead of him in annoyance.
Finally arriving at the watchtower, Mr. Yagi opened the door and saw a lobby with an elevator on the right side of the room. Dream watched Mr. Yagi walk towards the elevator and press the upward button, but after noticing that he wasn't followed, Mr. Yagi asked, "Are you alright, young man? Why aren't you coming to get on the elevator?" Even though this was Dream's second time seeing an elevator, he was still cautious. But Dream didn't want to show fear or anxiety, so he walked straight onto the elevator and leaned against the wall with his head down. After seeing Dream's behavior, Mr. Yagi said, "I know this is very new to you, young man. If you have any issues or concerns, tell me so I can help you with them." Dream just clicked his tongue and looked the other way from Mr. Yagi.
Soon, the elevator stopped on a floor resembling a theater, with comfy chairs and a big screen to showcase all students in their assigned blocks. Mr. Yagi and Dream walked out of the elevator and were welcomed by adults in costumes and a rat-bear-like person. "It's nice to see you again, All Might. I'm the principal of UA, Nezu!"
Dream stared down at the so-called principal but finally introduced himself after Mr. Yagi "encouraged" him to say, "My name is Dream."
"Well, it's nice to meet you. But wouldn't it be better if you used your real name than a Hero-Name?" asked an old lady.
After a moment of silence, everyone introduced themselves to Dream. While introductions were going on, Mr. Yagi thanked Principal Nezu for letting Dream accompany him to his new job as a teacher. "It's no problem, but the students are starting their second part of the entrance exam!"
After hearing what Nezu said, all the teachers and staff, trying to converse with Dream, went to their seats to watch the student candidates. Dream went and sat next to Mr. Yagi but was not interested in the exam. Dream was only interested in the powers that these people had to offer.
"The examinees have no idea how many villains there are present or their locations. They have limited time, must cover a vast area, and hunt down every last target." Nezu started to explain the exam, which Dream thought was for him. "Some use information gathering abilities to plan out strategies." Nezu pointed towards a screen with a tall, muscular young man with pale gray hair swept forwards, covering most of his face, and bent downwards at almost a right angle over his eye. He has six arms, all attached by a web of skin.
"While others rely on speed to pull ahead of their peers." Nezu continued by pointing at a screen with a relatively tall and muscular young man with a wide frame. He has short dark blue hair, flattened neatly down and parted on the right side of his head, a small patch completely shaved near the base of his head, and square eyes that match the pointed shape of his jaw. He wears glasses with rectangular lenses. Because of his Quirk, he possesses incredibly thick calves shaped like automobile engines, with six silver exhaust pipes protruding from each leg in three columns.
"Of course, remaining calm under pressure can be a huge advantage." Next, he pointed at a young man with a slim build and a feminine face. He has long blond hair, worn flattened down around most of his head, spiked and sticking out to the sides at the bottom with a side fringe that curves upwards a little before it curves down. He has long eyelashes and bright indigo eyes, giving him the appearance of a young prince.
"As pure as power and combat ability." Finally, he pointed at a familiar young pomeranian man. "The most successful students use a combination of all these tactics. They are the ones that rack up the highest scores." Nezu finished explaining, but after hearing all those tactics, Dream smirked underneath his mask and watched the students continue their exams.
He watched and looked for the 'Quirkless' boy, Midoriya. He couldn't find him anywhere until Nezu hit a button that summoned a robot as tall as the tallest buildings in the miniature cities and as wide as the road. He saw Midoriya jump into the air to face the robot.
Dream looked at Mr. Yagi and wondered, "Did this power come from an actual piece of hair?!"
After seeing Midoriya defeat the robot, all the teachers gave out numbers. Dream assumed those numbers were some reward points for defeating the robot. But he didn't catch those points for rescuing a girl from being crushed by the robot.
. . . . .
It was now the end of the entrance exams, and the old lady who introduced herself as "Recovery Girl" went to treat Midoriya's arm. When she got to Midoriya, he was unconscious on the road, and she gave out gummies to the participants. When he punched the robot, he injured his right arm and legs by using too much power. "Poor thing," Recovery Girl said with concern, "how can you do this to yourself even if you don't know how to use your Quirk?" She kissed Midoriya on his forehead, and then Midoriya's injuries glowed light green, showing that her healing Quirk activated.
"Now, if no one else is injured," She examined the participants after kissing a young girl's forehead. "I need to heal a boy's arm."
. . . . .
Mr. Yagi and Dream waited in the nurse's office for Recovery Girl. Dream sat in one of the nurse beds while Mr. Yagi sat in a chair next to Dream. "So the old lady is the one you said will be able to heal my arm?" Dream asked Mr. Yagi.
"Young man!" Mr. Yagi looked sternly at Dream. "You have to call her 'Recovery Girl!' Not 'old lady!' That is disrespectful!"
Dream crossed his arms and looked down at his left burnt arm. "There is no way she can heal this without a Healing Potion or just...."
"Or just what?" Mr. Yagi walked over to sit beside Dream; he looked straight at Dream's mask. Dream never answered his question and stayed silent until they heard the door slide open. There Recovery Girl walked into the room. "Alright, All Might," she stared at Dream, "what do I have to heal?"
"The young man's left arm." Mr. Yagi answered. "It looks like he burnt it with some hot liquid."
"Alright, sweety," She looked at Dream's mask, "can you try moving it for me? So that I can see how badly you burnt yourself?"
"Tch..." Dream uncrossed his arms, unwrapped the bandage, and showed Recovery Girl how he moved his arm and hand.
"It seems like you move slowly with every action you take...." Recovery Girl started, and then she kissed his arm. Being weirded by this, Dream moves his arm away from her and guards his left arm with his right. But soon, his arm started to glow light green. Shocked by this, Dream watched his peeled-off skin reattach itself. After the glowing subsided, he could move his arm normally, but the color of his skin stayed a purplish, decomposed color.
"I'm sorry, honey." Recovery Girl apologized. "It looks like I can only heal the bones and reattach the skin, but I couldn't heal it completely by having your skin color return."
Dream was still looking at his arm for a few seconds, and then he rewrapped it with the bandage. He looked toward Mr. Yagi and asked him to leave. Mr. Yagi was surprised by Dream, but he nodded and left the room. It was only Recovery Girl and Dream now in the room; there was silence for just a moment, but it was suddenly interrupted by Dream.
"You asked me earlier what my real name is," Dream stated. "I'll tell you as repayment."
