Forever yours(The love we keep)

Chapter 3: Chapter 1: The Invitation

Ethan Thompson stared at the cream-colored envelope on his kitchen counter, the familiar logo of his alma mater emblazoned on the seal.

He hadn't thought about his high school days in years, not since he'd left for college and started building his career.

"Ten-year reunion," he muttered to himself, a mix of emotions swirling in his chest. Excitement, nostalgia, and a hint of dread all battled for dominance.

Ethan's mind began to wander back to those carefree days, to the friends he'd made and the memories they'd shared. Charlotte Lee's bright smile and infectious laugh immediately came to mind. They'd been inseparable, sharing every secret, dream, and fear with each other.

He hadn't spoken to Charlotte in years, not since they'd drifted apart after graduation. Ethan wondered what she was up to now, whether she'd found success and happiness.

With a sigh, Ethan opened the envelope and pulled out the invitation. The reunion was scheduled for the last weekend in June, at the same hotel where they'd held their senior prom. A wave of nostalgia washed over him as he read through the details.

Should he go?

Ethan's phone buzzed, breaking the spell. He glanced at the screen, his mind still stuck in the past. It was his best friend, Alex.

"Hey, man," Alex said, his voice booming through the speaker. "Have you seen the reunion invite?"

Ethan chuckled. "Just opened it. What do you think? Should we go?"

There was a pause on the other end of the line. "I don't know, Ethan. I'm not sure I'm ready to face all those people again."

Ethan understood Alex's reservations. They'd both taken different paths in life, and the reunion would undoubtedly bring up memories of what could have been.

"We should do it," Ethan said finally, making up his mind. "For old times' sake. And who knows, maybe we'll reconnect with some of the old gang."

Alex sighed. "Okay, fine. But if I end up feeling like a total failure, I'm blaming you."

Ethan grinned. "Deal."

As he hung up the phone, Ethan felt a spark of excitement ignite within him. Maybe this reunion would be more than just a trip down memory lane. Maybe it would be a chance to rekindle old friendships, and possibly even discover new love.

Little did he know, Charlotte Lee was thinking the same thing, thousands of miles away.
