Chapter 390: 381 is coming

Bai Zhongqi carried a basket of stones to the rear seat of the off-road vehicle.

He was right, the basket indeed contained pebbles. Even though their color was somewhat appealing, they were just pebbles after all, without much use.

However, Bai Zhongqi clearly saw a stone that looked familiar to him from the bottom of the pile. Without anyone watching, he picked out the stone, which did not look much different on the outside.

"Indeed, it is the Crimson Gemstone," a spark flashed in Bai Zhongqi's eyes.

Unfortunately, now it was an agent holding the stone, and only his true self, under the effect of the Supreme Command, could utilize the Crimson Gemstone. Now, he could only feel the surging power within it.

"I wonder what uses this Crimson Gemstone holds." Different Crimson Gemstones had different uses, some enormously valuable, and some perhaps quite trivial. If it were a gemstone like the Homeland Stone, then its significance would be immeasurable.

Fortunately, having procured a Crimson Gemstone at the market, Bai Zhongqi was in a good mood. It was the first gain he had acquired on Taoran Star, and although he was not sure what it was, the importance of the Crimson Gemstone already satisfied him.

"It seems necessary to visit the riverbank where that hunter found these stones." He didn't directly ask where the person found them since the mentioned river was well-known, and asking others would yield the same result.

The acquisition of the Crimson Gemstone also increased Bai Zhongqi's interest in this planet; what other secrets lay on this planet that made civilizations like the Benefactors travel thousands of light years to come here, and yet operate so discreetly? After all, discreet was hardly the best word to describe the Benefactors.

Sitting in the off-road vehicle, Bai Zhongqi felt puzzled. It was about time now; the Benefactors' spacecraft should have arrived at Taoran Star by now. Yet, the Yinglong Cruiser on Taoran Satellite II had not detected any warp activity or other faster-than-light travel signals, and optical detection had not spotted anything approaching Taoran Star.

Just when Bai Zhongqi was curious, suddenly, a commotion broke out at the large market. People from the Shelter's Hunting Groups cried out, "The aliens have arrived!"

Bai Zhongqi's heart tightened, then he stepped out of the vehicle, and saw a flying saucer approaching Bei Mountain's summit at an incredibly high speed. This was Bai Zhongqi's first time seeing a universe civilization using a flying saucer, which was not very large, certainly much smaller than the large spacecraft of Iridium Star that were thousands of meters in length.

It had a diameter of only about seventy to eighty meters, seemingly divided into distinct parts. The middle was a flattened spherical chamber, likely where the bridge of the flying saucer was located. Encircling the sphere was a huge annular part that revolved, adorned with complex patterns of lights, appearing quite intimidating.

Bai Zhongqi knew this type of flying saucer utilized anti-gravity propulsion. The continuously rotating outer ring of the saucer created a stable repulsion with the planet's magnetic field, thus levitating it in the air, and by altering the magnetic field lines, it provided the saucer immense thrust, enabling it to fly swiftly. This type of flying saucer was not just for interstellar travel; it seemed more like a transportation tool used on the planet.

Bai Zhongqi instinctively sensed something wrong; the Benefactors' flying saucer was not from outside, but may have always been on this planet. Thus, his arrival might have already been observed by the Benefactors.

Bai Zhongqi's vigilance reached its peak, and he consciously touched the weapon he carried on him. If the situation turned bad, he would cause a massive disturbance here, even going so far as to bring the Yinglong Cruiser over.

Bai Zhongqi had nothing of great value; in the worst of times, he could abandon them, but Nan Ma and Hu were absolutely indispensable. Naturally, two Star Warrior masters could offer great help when necessary.

The flying saucer finally steadied itself atop the helipad on the peak, the gangway lowered, and before anyone had disembarked, all the traders and hunters from the Shelter kneeling in unison toward the flying saucer.

Bai Zhongqi watched the flying saucer, and standing next to him, Nan Ma had no intention of kneeling. As for Hu, this candid Star Warrior master hadn't even bothered to get out of the vehicle, clutching a mobile phone and playing some mobile game.

Bowing down there, Bu hurriedly made eye signals to Bai Zhongqi, but Bai Zhongqi pretended not to see and just stood there stiffly, watching the spaceship.

He was here to investigate, and there was no need to endure humiliations, even if this was just one of his agents.

Several ugly Baburondis descended from the flying saucer, their burly figures clad in special armor, looking rather dashing like celestial generals from mythical stories, adding to their imposing demeanor despite their grotesqueness.

A Baburondi, wielding a large ax, roared at Bai Zhongqi in a language he did not understand.

Bai Zhongqi showed no reaction at all.

The impatient Baburondi samurai swung his ax as if to intimidate Bai Zhongqi, but Bai Zhongqi continued to stare at him as if watching a fool.

The Baburondi samurai could not tolerate it and raised his ax high; the weapon clearly was not merely a melee weapon. As he swung the ax, patterns on it emitted a pale yellow light, obviously triggering some function.

The Baburondi samurai charged forward, intending to cleave Bai Zhongqi in two.

Bai Zhongqi was quick on the draw, firing his gun like a cowboy in a western movie.

The bullets, with immense penetration power, fired thrice. Bai Zhongqi's marksmanship was already exceptional, but the Baburondi's reaction was incredibly fast; he positioned his ax to block the bullets the moment he saw Bai Zhongqi draw his gun.

The ax was sturdy; the high-energy bullets Bai Zhongqi fired struck the ax, nearly penetrating it, but still didn't. However, the powerful force pushed the Baburondi samurai back, almost causing him to stumble and fall.

The onlookers had not anticipated that the peaceful arrival of an alien would turn into such a spectacle, and some looked extremely frightened, seemingly worried that the aliens might unleash their wrath.

But Bai Zhongqi didn't care. He switched his handgun's firing mode—this time, firing a light beam directly. The Baburondi, knowing the danger, immediately tried to roll away, but Bai Zhongqi's aiming was excellent. The next shot hit right where he was dodging, blasting away half of the Baburondi samurai's body.

Bai Zhongqi snorted and said, "Seems like there's no peaceful way out. Drag out the folks inside, we'll interrogate them ourselves for some information."
