Genshin Impact : I became a Traveler?

Chapter 12: Ascension Level

After 15 minutes of walking, the three of them arrived at the Knights of Favonius headquarters and immediately went to Jean's office to report the results of their meeting with Diluc.

'With Master Diluc helping, we no longer need to worry about the whereabouts of the Holy Lyre der Himmel.'

'It seems like you really trust Master Diluc, Acting Grand Master Jean?' Paimon asked.

'Yes, he is very reliable, and he is also my senior.'

'Senior? Master Diluc was also a member of the Knights of Favonius?'

'But why does he dislike the Knights of Favonius so much?'

'Master Diluc was once part of the Knights of Favonius, but he left several years ago. As for why he dislikes the Knights, I don't think it's my place to tell his story. It's best if you hear it from Master Diluc himself.'

Paimon nodded and didn't ask further.

'So, Traveler, do you have any plans for today?'

'Yes, I plan to clear the Ley Line Blossoms.'

'So I wanted to ask Lisa for help in tracking their locations.'

'That's quite a coincidence. Actually, I also wanted to ask for your help regarding the Ley Line Blossoms, Traveler. After Dvalin's attack yesterday, many homes and shops in the city were affected.'

'The Knights are currently busy helping the citizens, and no one is available to clear the Ley Line Blossoms. That's why I'd like to ask for your help, Traveler, since we're really short on people for this task,' Jean said.

'No problem,' Aether replied.

'I've already tracked them down. The Ley Line Blossoms have appeared in two locations that are fairly close to each other. They're not far from the Symbol of the Hero of Mondstadt,' Lisa said.

'The Symbol of the Hero of Mondstadt? That's in the Windrise area. Alright, we'll head there now.'

'Leaving right away?' Kaeya asked.

'Yes, the sooner we go, the sooner we can return and conserve our energy for tonight's mission.'

'Traveler, you impress me more and more. In that case, let me help you get near Windrise,' Lisa offered.

'Oh, using teleportation magic again? That's really convenient. Traveler, you should learn techniques like that. It would make traveling so much easier,' Paimon said.

'I wouldn't mind teaching you, Traveler. But unfortunately, the element I wield is Electro, so I can only teach you the principles,' Lisa replied.

'Sorry that I can't teleport,' Jean said.

Everyone laughed at Jean's remark, making the atmosphere in the room much lighter.

After that, Lisa used teleportation magic on Aether and Paimon, and they arrived on the outskirts of Windrise, near the road, with the Symbol of the Hero of Mondstadt visible from where they stood.

Even though they could see the Symbol of the Hero of Mondstadt, it didn't mean they were close. The reason they could see it was because the Symbol of the Hero of Mondstadt was a massive oak tree, towering around 30 to 40 meters tall.

'Traveler, look! There's a Statue of The Seven beneath that big tree. Do you want to go see it?'

'Why not? But we should complete our task first,' Aether said.

He didn't forget that he could also use the Statue of The Seven for teleportation, so interacting with it was a must.

'Yeah, but how do we find it?'

'Hmm, the book says that the area around a Ley Line Blossom will emit blue, gold, or red mist.'

'Blue mist indicates that the energy released is not too strong, gold means a lot of energy is being released, and red signifies an immense amount of energy. However, no one has ever seen a red Ley Line Blossom, making its existence a legend.'

'So, Paimon, try flying up a bit higher to see if you can spot any blue or gold mist.'

'Alright, but Traveler, Paimon can't fly very high, and if Paimon gets blown away by the wind, you have to catch Paimon, okay?'

'Yes, I won't let you fall to the ground.'

After getting Aether's promise, Paimon slowly flew higher. At 5 meters, 10 meters, 20 meters, and finally 30 meters, she spotted the mist Aether had described—it was gold.

Paimon quickly descended and told Aether.

'Traveler, Paimon saw gold-colored mist over there!'

'To the east of the Symbol of the Hero of Mondstadt? Alright, let's go, Paimon.'

'Yeah!'

The two of them took a leisurely walk toward the location Paimon mentioned, enjoying the cool breeze along the way.

After 15 minutes, they arrived 100 meters away from the Ley Line Blossom. They decided to stop because the area around it was swarming with monsters—Hilichurls, Samachurls, Mitachurls, and Pyro Slimes.

'Traveler, there are so many types of Hilichurls over there!'

'Yeah, if they absorb energy from the Ley Line Blossom, even more powerful monsters will appear.'

'Can you handle them all, Traveler?'

'Of course.'

Aether then drew two pistols and infused them with Anemo energy. However, the attacks from these two pistols would be different.

The pistol in his right hand would have an attack that gathers enemies, similar to Venti's Elemental Burst in the game. Meanwhile, the pistol in his left hand would unleash an attack similar to the one he used against Dvalin.

Once the Anemo energy was fully charged, Aether first fired the pistol in his right hand. A sphere of Anemo energy shot out from the barrel and flew toward the Hilichurls and Slimes.

As it neared them, the sphere burst, creating a powerful suction force that pulled in the Hilichurls, Samachurls, and Pyro Slimes.

The Mitachurls, however, remained unaffected because Aether's Anemo energy wasn't strong enough yet. But that didn't mean they stood still—when the Pyro Slimes were pulled in, the area was engulfed in flames.

Many of the Hilichurls and Samachurls caught in his attack perished, but some managed to survive once the suction effect ended.

Aether then fired his left-hand pistol, ensuring that the remaining Hilichurls and Samachurls were eliminated.

'Don't get too close to the battlefield, Paimon,' Aether said.

'Yeah, stay careful, Traveler.'

Aether nodded and walked toward the four surviving Mitachurls. He then put away his pistols and drew his sword, Ace.

To enhance his movement, Aether infused a bit of Anemo energy into his legs before dashing toward the Mitachurls.

The four consisted of two axe-wielding Mitachurls and two that previously carried shields. They were at levels 55 and 56, meaning they had likely only recently evolved from Hilichurls into Mitachurls.

Noticing Aether's approach, the Mitachurls roared in fury and charged toward him.

As they got closer, Aether leaped to the side to evade the charge of two Mitachurls, but he didn't forget to counterattack. He slashed one of them with his Anemo-infused sword.

The Mitachurl roared in pain, but Aether had no time to dwell on it. The two axe-wielding Mitachurls leaped at him from above, swinging their weapons down.

Aether blocked their axes with his sword, surprising the Mitachurls, who couldn't believe his strength.

'Not bad,' he muttered.

He then increased his power and pushed both Mitachurls back. Without wasting any time, Aether quickly moved and slashed the arm of one of the axe-wielding Mitachurls.

The creature roared in agony, but Aether didn't stop there. He jumped onto the Mitachurl's head and stabbed his sword straight through it.

Then, he leaped away, watching as the Mitachurl's body disintegrated into particles.

'One down.'

The remaining three Mitachurls roared in rage at the loss of their comrade. One of the axe-wielding Mitachurls dug into the ground and pulled out a Pyro Slime.

Meanwhile, the other two Mitachurls also dug into the ground, but they pulled out Dendro Slimes instead.

'Where are these Slimes coming from?' Aether muttered.

The Pyro Mitachurl then pressed its axe against the Pyro Slime. The axe turned red-hot, and the Mitachurl hurled the Pyro Slime at Aether.

The two Dendro Mitachurls did the same with their Slimes. Aether quickly dodged to the side.

However, to his surprise, the Pyro Mitachurl jumped in the direction he had dodged.

'Are they learning mid-battle?'

Aether wasn't foolish enough to block a Pyro-infused axe, so he leaped away once more. As the Pyro axe struck the ground, a pillar of flames erupted from the earth.

'Whoa, that's dangerous,' he said.

He then turned his attention to the two Dendro Mitachurls, ignoring the Pyro Mitachurl struggling to pull its axe from the ground.

Moving swiftly, Aether used a technique he had copied from the true owner of the Ace sword in his past life.

'Kamusari!'

Aether swung his sword horizontally, unleashing a powerful Anemo slash that instantly cleaved the two Dendro Mitachurls in half. Their bodies dissolved into particles.

He then switched his weapon to a Polearm, gathering Anemo energy before throwing it at the Pyro Mitachurl, which had just pulled its axe free.

The Polearm pierced through the Mitachurl's body, causing it to disintegrate into particles as well.

'And done,' Aether said.

He then summoned the Polearm back to his hand and stored it away.

Seeing that Aether had finished the battle, Paimon flew closer to him.

'As expected, Traveler, you're really strong!'

'I know,' Aether replied with a grin.

'Now, let's find the Original Resin, Paimon.'

Paimon nodded, and the two began searching for the Original Resin. After a while, they found it. It looked exactly like in the game—a crescent-shaped object.

Aether then followed the instructions written in the book. He shattered the Original Resin and placed it on the ground.

As soon as the Original Resin was broken, the leaking Ley Line energy was immediately absorbed by it. After five minutes, the Original Resin had finished absorbing the energy, changing from a white crescent shape to a golden full moon.

Aether picked up the golden Original Resin from the ground. As he held it, the system screen appeared, and at the same time, Paimon's voice rang out.

[New feature added: Alchemy]

'Traveler, do you know how to use alchemy?'

Aether pretended to think upon hearing Paimon's question, but in reality, he was examining the new Alchemy feature.

This Alchemy feature wasn't much different from the alchemy process in this world, which involved combining and fusing substances. However, since it was generated by the system, it had certain advantages.

One of those advantages was that he could freely choose what the Original Resin would produce—whether it was Mora, Adventurer's Experience, or elemental gem fragments.

Yes, the system's Alchemy Processing could even generate Mora. However, he had a better method for obtaining Mora, so he didn't plan to use the Original Resin for that purpose.

'I think I can use it.'

Aether immediately selected Adventurer's Experience as the processed output for the Original Resin in his hand. Within moments, 60 sheets of Adventurer's Experience appeared in his grasp, replacing the golden Original Resin.

Why only 60? Because a significant portion of the Ley Line Blossom's energy had already been absorbed by the Hilichurls. According to the book, every Ley Line Blossom starts with an energy value of 100. Since the Hilichurls had absorbed almost half of it, only around 60% of the energy remained.

As soon as the 60 sheets of Adventurer's Experience appeared in his hands, the system's voice rang out again, indicating that he had gained 600 Adventurer's Experience.

To convert them into Hero's Wit, 10 sheets of Adventurer's Experience were needed for each Hero's Wit. This meant he now had 66 Hero's Wit. And with his buff, he effectively had 660 additional Hero's Wit.

Although that seemed like a lot, he wasn't sure how many levels he could gain from using all of them. The 108 Hero's Wit he had used before had only increased his level by six.

And, as expected, the higher his level, the more Hero's Wit he would need to level up further.

'This should be the same item you used last night, right, Traveler?'

'Yeah.'

'It looks like we got lucky, Traveler!'

'Not really.'

'Hmm?'

'Actually, I can choose what I want to create when processing the Original Resin.'

'But that's not what the book says?'

'Just think of it as one of my advantages as an outsider. And don't tell anyone about this, Paimon.'

'Don't worry, Traveler! Paimon's lips are sealed!'

Aether gave Paimon a doubtful look.

'Hey! What's with that look, Traveler?!'

'Come on, Paimon. Fly up again, let's find the other Ley Line Blossom.'

Paimon grumbled a little, but she still did as Aether asked. She stayed in the air for about two minutes before descending and shaking her head.

'It's no use, Traveler. Paimon doesn't see any blue or gold mist.'

'That's fine. In that case, let's go to the Statue of The Seven near the Hero's Symbol of Mondstadt first.'

Paimon nodded, and the two of them set off toward the Statue of The Seven. After 20 minutes, they finally arrived at the Hero's Symbol of Mondstadt.

'Seeing it up close, this tree is massive,' Paimon said.

'Yeah, and it feels really peaceful here.'

'You're right, Traveler. The wind here is so relaxing… Paimon could fall asleep if we rested here for too long.'

Aether nodded, then walked toward the Statue of The Seven, which looked almost identical to the one at Starfell Lake.

He reached out and touched it, but as expected, nothing special happened—his level didn't increase, nor did the system's intelligence come back online.

'Paimon, I think I can teleport to any Statue of The Seven that I've touched before.'

'Eeh? How is that possible?'

'I don't know either,' Aether said, shrugging his shoulders.

'Is this also one of the special abilities of an outsider?'

'Maybe.'

Paimon nodded and didn't ask any further. Thinking too much about it would just give her a headache.

'Alright, now it's time to climb the tree to search for another Ley Line Blossom. Want to join me, Paimon?'

'Of course!'

Even though Paimon joined him, she didn't climb like Aether—she simply floated in the air.

Aether climbed to the top of the massive oak tree and stood on one of its thick branches, giving him a better vantage point to scan the area for another Ley Line Blossom.

Sure enough, he spotted another one. This time, it was located southwest of the Hero's Symbol of Mondstadt. The reason it wasn't visible earlier was that it had been hidden behind this large tree.

This Ley Line Blossom emitted a blue mist, and there were a few Hydro Slimes gathered around it—most likely because it was located near the riverbank.

Since he was only dealing with Slimes, Aether didn't need to exert as much effort as he did against the Hilichurls. He simply used normal attacks with his Polearm.

Aether repeated the same process as before, but this time, instead of Adventurer's Experience, he received Wanderer's Advice. From this Ley Line Blossom, he obtained 90 sheets of Wanderer's Advice, along with 900 additional Wanderer's Advice from his buff.

He then converted it into Adventurer's Experience, obtaining 99 sheets and an additional 990 Adventurer's Experience.

Once more, Aether converted it into Hero's Wit, gaining 108 sheets and an additional 1,080 Hero's Wit from his buff.

Now holding a total of 1,806 Hero's Wit, Aether didn't hesitate and immediately used 1,000 sheets.

His level gradually increased: 59, 60, 61, 62... and finally stopped at Level 63.

Aether stood still for a moment, stunned.

He hadn't expected the EXP requirement to increase so drastically.

Initially, he estimated that 1,000 Hero's Wit would boost him by at least 15 levels. But in reality, he had only gained 5 levels.

Aether then used 500 more Hero's Wit and gained 2 more levels, bringing him to Level 65.

'250 Hero's Wit per level? What the heck is this!?' he thought.

'Traveler, are you constipated?'

'Huh? Paimon, why would you think that?'

'Well, you keep making weird faces. If you're having trouble, let's go back to the city first!'

'....'

'No, I'm not constipated, Paimon.'

Aether then checked his current status:

[Name: Aether]

[Level: 65] (Actual: 96)

[HP: 48,921] (Actual: 372,984)

[Attack: 3,463] (Actual: 14,390)

[Defense: 1,061] (Actual: 7,360)

[Dexterity: 1,409] (Actual: 9,351)

[Elemental Mastery: 600] (Actual: 2,000)

[Stamina: 1,290] (Actual: 10,540)

'I need to ask the system about this when it comes back online. Why does the EXP requirement increase so much?' he wondered.

'Alright, Paimon, now it's time to test whether I can really teleport to the Statue of The Seven.'

'Okay, Traveler!'
