Chapter 219: Chapter 218: Kujou Sara's Doubts
Kujou Sara arrived at the entrance of the Kitsune Saiguu Mansion with two soldiers.
On the way, Miss Kujou Sara was pondering a question.
The name "Yu Xie" was a legend.
As the General of the Tenryou Commission, Kujou Sara was no stranger to this name. In the history of the Okuzumeshuu, in some records, "Yu Xie" was a name that shone with incredibly brilliant glory.
However, the history also clearly stated that the legendary leader was merely a mortal.
After the conclusion of the khaenri'ah War, some time passed, and he passed away. It was rumored that the Sacred Sakura tree was the incarnation of that legendary leader, a gift he left for Inazuma.
But now, the Shogun had actually spoken the name "Yu Xie."
This left Kujou Sara feeling somewhat confused.
Could it be a case of the same name?
Upon careful thought, that didn't seem right. If it were just a coincidence of names, the Shogun wouldn't have sent her specifically to invite him.
Confusion and curiosity mixed in her heart. Kujou Sara took a slow breath and walked up to the mansion's door, knocking on it.
Soon, the door opened, and a beautiful shrine maiden appeared to answer.
The shrine maiden first sized up the visitor, then smiled warmly.
"General Kujou, are you here to see Lord Kitsune Saiguu?"
"Under the orders of the Shogun, I am here to invite Mr. Yu Xie to the Tenshukaku," Kujou Sara said truthfully.
"Is that so..." The shrine maiden was slightly surprised. "Please come in, I'll inform Mr. Yu Xie."
"Thank you." Kujou Sara said.
After entering the estate, the shrine maiden turned and left. Kujou Sara stood in front of the rockery in the garden, watching the goldfish swimming in the pond beside it.
It wasn't long before the shrine maiden returned, bringing Yu Xie with her.
After bringing him in, the shrine maiden left again, leaving only Yu Xie and Kujou Sara in the garden.
"Miss Kujou, you wanted to see me?" Yu Xie looked at the cold and alluring beauty before him and spoke first.
"Shogun asked me to invite Mr. Yu Xie to Tenshukaku," Kujou Sara said.
Hearing this, Yu Xie first fell silent, then nodded. "Let's go."
"Please follow me," Kujou Sara said, turning and leading the way.
As they left the estate and walked along the road, Kujou Sara's curiosity grew even stronger.
What is the connection between Yu Xie and the former General of the Okuzumeshuu? Could they be the same person?
But the lifespan of a mortal couldn't be this long, even a holder of the Vision couldn't live this long—unless... they became a god.
Every holder of a Vision is someone who has the potential to become a god. If the former General had already ascended to divinity, then everything would make sense.
"Mr. Yu Xie, do you know Shogun?" After thinking for a moment, Kujou Sara couldn't help but ask.
"Mm." Yu Xie nodded and smiled. "Just call me Yu Xie, no need for the 'Mr.' prefix."
"Forgive my curiosity, Yu Xie... Did you and Shogun meet five hundred years ago?"
"Mm..." Yu Xie hesitated for a moment, then smiled and said, "In some ways, yes. But from another perspective, we only met recently."
This answer left Kujou Sara somewhat confused, but she chose not to press further.
She felt that the man beside her, named Yu Xie, even if he wasn't the legendary former General of the Okuzumeshuu, , he was certainly no ordinary person.
As a general of the Tenryou Commission, Kujou Sara trusted her own judgment.
Time passed slowly.
Kujou Sara led Yu Xie to the entrance of the main hall of Tenshukaku.
"Shogun is inside. Please go ahead."
"Aren't you coming in with me?" Yu Xie asked.
"I won't be going in. Shogun specifically asked to see you alone," Kujou Sara replied, then turned and walked away.
Watching Kujou Sara's figure disappear around the corner, Yu Xie turned his attention to the hall and stepped inside.
The hall was very quiet, with no one else present except Makoto.
At that moment, Makoto was seated on the high throne, her eyes closed. She appeared to be either resting or asleep.
Yu Xie softened his footsteps as he approached her.
He could hear Makoto's steady breathing—it seemed she was indeed asleep.
Makoto dealt with countless matters every day. Even though she had the body of a god, it was natural for her to feel tired.
So, Yu Xie found a seat nearby and sat down without waking her, simply watching her and waiting quietly for her to wake.
Time flowed on, and it was unclear how much had passed. The sky outside had turned crimson with the evening glow.
Finally, Makoto slowly opened her eyes. Seeing Yu Xie sitting quietly nearby, she was slightly startled.
"Yu Xie!"
"You're awake," Yu Xie said with a smile.
"Why didn't you wake me when you arrived?" Makoto stood up from her seat. "Why just sit there waiting like that?"
"I saw that you seemed tired. It's rare for you to get a moment to rest, so how could I bring myself to disturb you?" Yu Xie replied with a smile.
Makoto fell silent for a moment.
In a brief daze, she seemed to catch a glimpse of the past, recalling moments she had spent with Yu Xie.
Although Yu Xie had lost his former memories, he was still the same Yu Xie—unchanged.
"Alright, what was it you wanted to talk to me about?" Yu Xie asked.
"Today, Rosalyne came to see me," Makoto said slowly. "She told me that her purpose in coming to Inazuma is to carry out a mission for the Fatui, and that mission is to take the Gnosis. She also knows about how Ei and I govern Inazuma together. Her tone carried a hint of hostility, and I think she did it intentionally."
Hearing this, Yu Xie pondered for a moment.
Makoto was probably right—Rosalyne was deliberately showing hostility to ultimately deceive the Fatui and achieve her true goal.
"I understand. I'll handle the matter as it unfolds," Yu Xie said. "Makoto, thank you for letting me know in time."
"No need to thank me. But if you insist, how about going on an outing together once the war is over? It's just a shame it's not the season for cherry blossoms," Makoto said with a gentle smile, clearly in a good mood.
"The war?" Yu Xie paused. "The Shogunate and Watatsumi Island..."
"This war has gone on for too long. Both sides have realized that continuing will only bring harm to everyone, especially the people. With this mutual understanding, the peace talks have gone smoothly. The war is nearing its end and will soon be over," Makoto said.
"I see. That's wonderful news." Yu Xie sighed in relief. To be honest, he couldn't stand seeing Kokomi and Makoto at odds.
"Since you say so, I'll take that as a yes?" Makoto's smile grew even brighter, radiating a warmth that seemed to heal the soul.
"Alright, I promise," Yu Xie replied with a smile.
Being with Makoto always made Yu Xie feel at ease. She was like a caring elder sister, someone who placed him at the center of her attention, offering him gentle support and solace in the subtlest ways.
