Chapter 86: Chapter 86: Be Careful, The Sea Is Definitely Not An Eel

Keqing subconsciously glanced at Smith. In reality, the person with the most authority in this matter was the Geo Archon, but Smith also held significant influence. At the very least, Smith and the Geo Archon seemed to have an equal standing, maintaining a cooperative relationship.

In this regard, Smith's opinion carried considerable weight.

"Weapons and similar materials cannot be sold. That is a strict boundary," Smith stated firmly. "Otherwise, it would interfere with Inazuma's internal affairs. If the Fatui were to uncover such dealings, they could exploit the situation for their own benefit.

"The ones funding the rebels on Watatsumi Island from behind the scenes are the Fatui. On one hand, they collaborate with the Kanjo Commission and the Tenryou Commission, while on the other, they support the rebels, all to throw Inazuma into deeper chaos." Smith's gaze darkened as he looked towards Inazuma.

When evaluating the true culprits in this situation, the most heinous figures were undoubtedly the leaders of the Kanjo Commission and the Tenryou Commission. If they had been as competent as the Yashiro Commission, then no amount of Fatui interference would have mattered.

As for the others, both Raiden Ei and the rebels had their share of problems.

And as for the Fatui… their treachery was undeniable.

The three commissions—the root of Inazuma's turmoil—truly deserved to be eradicated!

Smith despised the tendency of some narratives to whitewash villains. When he first experienced the story of the Shogunate's policies, it had left a particularly foul taste in his mouth.

Even if one admired the concept of puppetry, why restore Scaramouche's memories? Wouldn't it have been more effective for Nahida to erase them completely and repurpose him as a guardian for Sumeru?

If he had no memories, why go to such lengths to recover them? Wasn't that just unnecessarily disgusting?

After all, most of Inazuma's suffering stemmed from his actions.

"That's true," Keqing nodded slightly, acknowledging Smith's reasoning.

"As for selling food to Inazuma, that is an entirely different matter," Smith continued. "Liyue can provide humanitarian aid to Watatsumi Island. For example, we can set different prices: sell food to the Kanjo Commission at 250 Mora per unit while offering it to the people of Watatsumi Island at 180 Mora.

"The Kanjo Commission will buy at a high price and resell at an even higher one, ensuring that ordinary civilians still cannot afford to eat. Meanwhile, though the rebels are not entirely righteous, they would at least be able to purchase food at a fairer price.

"I believe Captain Beidou won't lose money this way, and it will be a more satisfying arrangement for everyone involved." Smith smiled meaningfully.

Beidou considered his proposal and nodded. "At 180 Mora, there's still profit to be made. This is a good idea, but I still pity the ordinary citizens of Inazuma.

"I really hope the rebels can overthrow the Shogunate army soon."

Since Smith had drawn a firm line regarding weapon sales, Beidou decided to drop the idea. After all, she was conducting business in Inazuma on behalf of Liyue and had no intention of dragging her homeland into unnecessary trouble.

Besides, this arrangement eased her conscience.

"No," Smith interjected coldly. "If the Shogunate army is defeated, Raiden Ei will intervene personally. The entire rebel force—and even Watatsumi Island—will be wiped out.

"Do those fools truly believe they can plunge Inazuma into chaos without consequence? That General Raiden will just clean up the mess after them?"

He sneered. "And don't mistake the people of Watatsumi Island for innocent victims. It was they who destroyed the talismans on Yashiori Island, leading to a catastrophe that resulted in countless deaths."

"What?" Kaedehara Kazuha's face darkened.

Originally, he had sympathized with the rebels. The Shogunate army was riddled with corruption, making it easy to side with those who opposed them. However, if what Smith said was true—if the rebels had indeed been responsible for the destruction of Yashiori Island's talismans—then they were just as guilty.

Kazuha could not stand alongside such people.

"If you're interested, you can investigate the matter yourself. The evidence should still be available," Smith said calmly.

Beidou fell silent. She had wanted to support Watatsumi Island's cause as much as possible, especially since she found Sangonomiya Kokomi to be an intelligent and charismatic leader.

Having traveled extensively, Beidou prided herself on being able to read people well.

But now, she felt a chilling sense of deception.

Had she been fooled by Kokomi all this time? After all, how could a leader of an entire rebellion be as harmless as she appeared?

Faced with a choice between trusting Kokomi or trusting Smith, Beidou didn't hesitate.

Smith was one of Liyue's own, and he was the Qixing's trusted advisor.

After Smith and Keqing left Beidou's ship, Keqing turned to him. "You seem very invested in Inazuma's affairs. Are you planning to go there soon?"

Smith raised an eyebrow. "Why do you ask?" He was genuinely curious. Did Keqing have some sort of insight into his thoughts?

Wasn't it supposed to be the other way around? He was the one who always saw through her thoughts, not vice versa!

"Just intuition," she replied with a knowing smile.

Smith chuckled. "Intuition, huh? Well, you're not wrong. I do intend to head to Inazuma eventually. But now is not the right time. Although I don't believe I would lose in a fight against General Raiden, I prefer to wait until I've grown stronger. There's no need to rush.

"As things stand, if I go to Inazuma, a battle with the Raiden Shogun is inevitable."

Keqing nodded in understanding. "That makes sense. But if you ever have the chance, I hope you can change Inazuma's situation for the better. At least for the innocent people caught in the middle."

Smith gazed at her thoughtfully before finally nodding. "Yeah."

Though he didn't openly admit it, he didn't disagree with Keqing's sentiment.

"However," he added, "if things go as planned, I might head to Mondstadt or Fontaine sometime around May or June."

"Mondstadt? Fontaine?" Keqing tilted her head in thought. "Are you planning to invite the Hydro Archon to join the guild?"

She then smirked. "Come to think of it, you could technically be considered the true Hydro Archon of Teyvat, given your abilities. If you show up in Fontaine, you might outshine Furina herself.

"The great Water God Smith arriving in Fontaine!"

Having spent so much time with Smith, Keqing had picked up his sense of humor and had started making such jokes herself.

Smith laughed. "Now that you mention it, that does sound interesting. If I really did that, Furina would probably panic, wouldn't she?"

Thinking of Furina's dramatic and often theatrical personality, Smith decided he didn't have the heart to scare her.

After all, both Furina and Focalors were rather amusing deities.
