Chapter 87: Chapter 87: The Greatest Villain in the History of Teyvat?

"The current Hydro Archon may seem a bit flamboyant and exaggerated, but she is still a great god," Smith said meaningfully.

"Oh? Is that so?" Keqing nodded thoughtfully. She was somewhat familiar with Fontaine's situation.

Compared to a traditional deity, Furina seemed more like an entertainer—a god who frequently appeared in public and performed for the people. No matter how she looked at it, Keqing found it difficult to believe that this was the behavior of a true archon.

However, judging by Smith's expression, he seemed to think highly of the Hydro Archon. Perhaps there was a side of Furina they didn't yet understand, or maybe she was secretly preparing for something significant.

Still, Keqing didn't concern herself too much with such matters. She had become somewhat indifferent to the affairs of the gods.

After all, the Geo Archon, Morax, was in their guild, yet he spent his days casually strolling through Liyue Harbor with a birdcage in hand. Over time, this had completely shattered the awe she once held for him.

She still respected the Geo Archon, of course, but she had come to realize that even he wasn't perfect.

Besides, the man next to her—Smith—was a peculiar combination of wisdom and mischief, often teaming up with Nahida and Furina to tease her in different ways. If she hadn't met Smith, she would never have believed that such an outrageous reality was possible.

Once, Keqing had asked Smith how he knew so much about different worlds. His answer had left her shaken.

How could there be a world where information about their lives was turned into teaching materials and widely distributed for study?

Thinking back to Smith's casual request for a certain book as a gift, Keqing suddenly found herself wondering—perhaps the world he came from was far more open-minded about certain things than she had imagined.

Otherwise, how could he possess such knowledge?

Despite that, Smith had always maintained his composure, never indulging in the chaos of his world. Keqing firmly believed that she was his first woman—there was no reason for him to deceive her about something like that.

She still remembered how nervous he had been back then, even more so than she was.

For someone to remain so pure in a world as chaotic as his, Smith was truly a man worth entrusting her heart to.

A Troubling Presence in Mondstadt

"By the way, how are things in Mondstadt?" Smith suddenly asked, his expression turning serious. "I told Jean and the others a lot about Durin and Tevailan before. Has there been any progress on that?"

Keqing thought for a moment before responding, "After Jean returned to Mondstadt, the first thing she did was consult Albedo. He is said to be a creation of the alchemist Rhinedottir, just like the dragon Durin.

It's said that he has inherited some of Rhinedottir's alchemical knowledge, making him the most skilled alchemist in all of Teyvat.

But so far, they haven't taken any major action. Perhaps they're preparing something?"

At this, Keqing couldn't help but sigh. "It's really enviable. It would be wonderful if Liyue had such a brilliant alchemist."

Smith shook his head. "That's not necessarily a good thing. Don't forget what Rhinedottir did—she nearly destroyed all of Teyvat. That woman was a true lunatic."

Keqing's eyes widened. "What do you mean?"

Smith's gaze darkened. "Albedo may not have inherited her madness, but Mondstadt is still harboring something extremely dangerous."

Keqing hesitated. As one of Liyue's Qixing, she had access to some classified information, but there were still many secrets she had yet to uncover.

"The calamity that struck Teyvat five hundred years ago was linked to Rhinedottir. You should understand what that means," Smith said gravely.

Keqing fell silent.

She had not personally experienced that time, but she knew of the devastation it had caused.

That disaster had inflicted great losses upon Liyue and all other nations.

During that period, the Geo Archon had mysteriously left, and Liyue had barely managed to survive thanks to the efforts of the adepti. Even then, the casualties had been immense. The Millelith had lost at least 60% of their forces, while Liyue's warlocks had suffered a staggering 70% loss.

Even now, centuries later, Liyue had not fully recovered.

The adepti had also suffered greatly, though their exact losses remained unknown.

Despite all this, Liyue had fared better than most nations. Thanks to its strong defenses, at least 90% of its civilian population had survived.

Other countries had not been so fortunate.

Mondstadt, Inazuma, and Fontaine had barely survived the catastrophe.

Keqing took a deep breath. "If that's true, then Rhinedottir might be the most dangerous villain in Teyvat's history."

Smith nodded. "At least, in the past thousand years, she likely holds that title."

He didn't know exactly how strong Rhinedottir was, but from what Dainsleif had revealed, she was immensely powerful—and utterly ruthless.

She had abandoned her homeland of Khaenri'ah and conducted unspeakable experiments in her pursuit of power.

Smith had no sympathy for someone like that. No matter how skilled an alchemist she was, she was far too dangerous to be left unchecked.

If left alone, she could become even more uncontrollable than Il Dottore.

She was a massive hidden threat.

If Smith wanted to ensure his survival in Teyvat, he would have to deal with such dangers before they spiraled out of control.

"I never expected Mondstadt to harbor such a dangerous presence," Keqing murmured. "The people there must be incredibly trusting to allow a creation of Rhinedottir to remain among them."

Smith shrugged. "For now, Albedo doesn't seem to be a threat. He has things under control, at least for the moment."

Keqing sighed. "I once thought about inviting Albedo to Liyue to assist in some research. But now, I think it's best to leave things as they are. Even though Liyue is strong, we can't afford to take unnecessary risks. It's better to focus on our own development."

Although technological advancements in Liyue had progressed thanks to certain entities like Mewtwo and Cloud Retainer, Keqing still wanted more—she wanted devices like mobile phones and other modern conveniences.

"Forget it," Smith said, stretching lazily. "It's getting late. Let's head back."

His gaze flickered toward Keqing's outfit.

"By the way, those custom cat-ear suits I ordered should be ready soon, right?"

Keqing's expression stiffened, her face instantly turning red.

"You—!"

Smith grinned mischievously, pretending not to notice her embarrassment.

Today was yet another day to increase his 'attack speed.'
